Re:Library takes over Wiseman

With the consent of the latest translator for Pupil of the Wiseman (WN), Re:Library will now be taking over the translation of this great web novel series.

And a great series like this naturally deserves to be respected in all its glories! It started going downhill ever since Saiaku Translations picked this up. Yes, Saiaku, I still remember you and I still hold a grudge over what you did to this great novel! Not only was it a poorly rendered machine translation of this great series, he even opted to use the stupid Shakespearean tone in Mira’s dialog. And the worst offender of all? He rejected my invitation to host Wiseman on Re:Library and went ahead to block out all readers with an ad link for the reason that he wanted to buy a domain of his own, the worst move any translator could ever make! Now just take a look at where did that take him? Even his site is no longer working! Hmph, serves you right!

Oops, wait a minute, this isn’t supposed to be a ranting corner. Anyway, like I said, this series has been ruined by being passed around to so many incompetent translators and to show our greatest respect for this series, we decided to rewrite this series from the ground up (with help from various editors and translators) while compiling a terms sheet for personal use.

New chapters when? Well? We don’t know about that yet, we already found a translator to continue Wiseman from where it left off, but in order to provide y’all with the best translations he can, he’s currently reading through the chapters to get to know what’s going on, while doing translation check at the side. So it might be a while before we see a new chapter.

On that topic though, we figured we might be splitting the chapters into several parts when we start publishing new chapters. While I was looking into the raw, I noticed that each chapter is averaging around 7k ~ 9k characters, that’s a helluva lots of characters to translate into English! So we thought we might as well split them into an average of 3k ~ 4k characters (the average length of most web novels) and publish them like that in order.

With all that said and done, look forward to reading the revamped Wiseman on Re:Library soon-ish!

[Teaser] How can the Saintess be a Boy!?

Tada~! Now that we finally have a new translator for Demon Sword Maiden, it is finally time for me to pick up a new series!

…NOT!

Well, let’s calm down and not click the close button yet, for now, this is a teaser chapter, but once I’m sure the new translator is ready to take on Demon Sword Maiden by himself, I’ll have more free time since that means less work for me. At that time, I will try to tackle this new project seriously. This is a novel Immortal Dreamer said he wanted to pick up at some point in time. Oh, who was Immortal Dreamer you ask? He was the previous translator I hired for Demon Sword Maiden but never got to stick around due to his sudden disappearance, probably due to some unforeseen accident.

Since he went missing and all, I can’t really talk to him about this project, so I thought I might as well pick it up and pass the project to him once he returns from the unknown. For now, enjoy reading this teaser and let me know your thoughts.

New Translator for Demon Sword Maiden!

Heya, it’s been a while since I made any update. Well, at least in regard to novel updates. Everything may look fine on the front end, whereas the chapters kept releasing at a constant pace with no interruption, but there were so many dramas going on behind the scene. Okay, maybe drama is a bit “dramatic”, but a lot of things DID happen over the past few months.

First, since Sigma has been removed from the job, I’ve put Nexus up on Demon Sword Maiden, but it might have been a bit too challenging for him as he’s still not quite up there yet in the language department. And you know how it is, with all those Japanese names and terms, it can get quite confusing. After he worked on three chapters of Demon Sword Maiden, I’ve decided that maybe I should put him up on Dragon Princess instead. And had hired a different translator for Demon Sword Maiden.

That translator was a good friend of mine, a verified Chinese translator, and he was also the one who helped develop this site’s Dark Mode. I trusted him, a lot, so I have paid him in advance to provide 15 chapters of Demon Sword Maiden per month. In the same month, however, since he had to pay the bill urgently, he worked for WuxiaWorld to the bone and submitted his work to them, but they said they were unable to pay him until the set date since their money is being managed by a third party.

Therefore, he was honestly cornered so he reluctantly came to me to “borrow” money. He had never betrayed my trust before so I have agreed to give him the money “in advance” for another batch of chapters. I have now effectively paid him for two months worth of Demon Sword Maiden chapters in advance. Both of which I still haven’t received a single chapter of. Not that I’m thinking that he actually ran off with the money, I trust him, and he does have a history of being ill, so it’s not totally out of the question that something must have happened in real life that kept him from reaching back to us. He has already disappeared for a few months, and I’m honestly quite concerned about him.

If not for that, we would already have increased the weekly chapter release from 2 to 4 by last December! But enough of that sob story! This isn’t the time for that, for we have finally found a new translator capable of tackling this hefty project! Please give your warmest regards to Snoring Dragon, the newest translator of Demon Sword Maiden! With the addition of a new translator, and Nexus now working on Dragon Princess, I am now relieved of a project to call my own, which means… it’s time for a new novel soon!

But not so soon! For I am still slightly concerned about leaving this project completely in the hands of Snoring Dragon, thus I will be monitoring him for the next three months to make sure that he is ready. Anyway, Snoring Dragon’s translations will be available from Chapter 131 onward, which will be released on the 4th of March! Take heed! Take heed! From the month of March onward, the weekly release of Demon Sword Maiden will be increased from 2 to 4!

Update on Invalid Traffic

I believe the last update had everyone shaking in the boots with the announcement of Re:Library’s end of service should everything go haywire. Believe me, I was too. It hit us so suddenly I thought it was the end of the world. Ever since that announcement, we’ve been looking into ways to prevent the bot traffic from hitting our site. From simple methods of installing right-click disable, using CAPTCHA to block contents, installing Cloudflare, to the more expensive methods of implementing professional bot mitigation services.

What I can say is that, the professional services are hella expensive, it’s not what any small translation site owners could afford, they can range anywhere between 600 bucks to 1,200 bucks monthly! It’s no wonder no translator has opted for professional services and continued to give the content thief the opportunity to steal their translations. If we have to pay such a huge amount per month, we might as well not have ads on our site. It won’t make a difference. In fact, we might even be on the negative side if we do employ their services.

Back to the main point, we’ve been hit by lots of non-human traffic, gets removed from the advertisement platform, looked for ways to remove those “harmful” traffic, and now we’ve finally reached a safe threshold and has been re-accepted by our advertisement platform. Although we are currently safe for now, there are still some “issues” with our traffic so we’re not completely out of the danger zone yet for a foreseeable future.

I’m not going to mention what kind of methods we’ve employed to prevent the bots from learning anything, but if you’ve encountered any problem with the site or has been falsely identified as a bot, please send a report to [email protected]. It will be much appreciated if you can include your IP address, User-Agent, Browser type/version, as well as a screenshot of the page.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Re:Library Hit by Invalid Traffic! (Again!)

It had been a great 2019, but everything must come to an eventual end. If worse has come to worst, expect Re:Library to be terminated by Aug 2021 since that’s how long we purchased this hosting plan for. It is very unfortunate, but we have been reported by our advertising partner that our site has hit a high threshold of non-human traffic, again!

So what does that mean to you? To us? And to our publishers? It means that we won’t be able to get a source of ad revenues anymore from our current ad network until we get this issue resolved, and no source of revenues means we can’t pay our publishers or freelance translators for their hard work, we also won’t be able to continue paying for our hosting plan, and that means termination of Re:Library for when our plan ends.

What is invalid traffic you ask? How do we resolve it? Invalid traffic or non-human traffic is basically what we refer to bot traffic. There are good bots like our neighborhood friendly Spiderman Google Crawler which crawls our site and index them on the search page. But there are also malicious bots that come to our site to scrape or steal our content, or bots that tried to brute force log-in to steal our user credentials.

In short, our site has too many bots visiting us and that’s hurting our site, not only in terms of our content being stolen but also our ads earning. While we’re not really too concerned about losing some traffic to the aggregator sites, but having been removed from our monetization scheme due to those very aggregator sites is doing more harm than good.

Which is why, we will now be implementing some content scraping/non-human/bots countermeasure. we are not sure what specifically we will need to do, though we will try not to inconvenience the visitors as much as possible. If something goes wrong with the testing, expect the site to be down for a short maintenance.

[New Series] PunishedLyly Brings You Two New Gender Bender Novels!

Punished who? Yep, It’s PunishedLyly, I’m sure some of you may already be familiar with him, but that’s none other than the main translator of Sucubbus’s Life in Another World! Those of you who joined us on Discord should already know him pretty well, after all, he is one of the most active ones in our Discord server. PunishedLyly has joined us since November 2019 and fully intending to revive the Sucubbus in Another World series, while bringing you Two as One Princesses and Life with a Tail!

While PunishedLyly will be publishing Sucubbus and Princesses himself, the publishing rights of the Life with a Tail will be left in the jurisdiction of Re:Library since that is what the translator himself has chosen. With that being the case, there will be no fixed schedule on Sucubbus and Princesses series, but we can promise you this, Life with a Tail will have a fixed schedule on Saturday and Sunday (GMT +8), at the usual time we publish The Female Knight & Dark Elf.

Succubus, Levelmaker, and Hero’s Daughter join Re:Library!

Diz a joyous day! We got three new translators joining Re:Library with the iconic Succubus’s Life in Another World, Levelmaker, and Reborn as Hero’s Daughter! Looks like Phase 2 of Project Gender Bender is off to a smooth(?) start?

SirMetathyst is currently working on the next chapter of Succubus’s Life, it was 80% complete last I heard from him. The progress is a little slow and we expect 1 chapter monthly, but SirMetathyst is hopeful to increase his proficiency and increase his pace to 1 chapter per week.

Fenderson will continue to work on Levelmaker while Yuki edits it, so there are no changes to this novel for now. There is no fixed schedule as Fenderson joined Re:Library as a collaborator instead of a hired translator. Same with Yuki who’s currently working on Hero’s Daughter.

However, Yuki has promised that she will focus a bit more on Hero’s Daughter from now on and we can expect at least 3-7 chapters per month, so we have something to look forward to. As of now, however, Yuki is still working on re-translating the previous chapters to make up for the low-quality translations. Once that is done, we can expect some new chapters of Hero’s Daughter coming out soon 🙂

Night Mode now Available on Re:Library!

You asked for it, and I listened. I have hired a programmer and modified the existing plugin to work with Re:Library’s default theme. There were plenty of bugs and challenges, but we worked it out in the end! Now Re:Library will load in night mode by default! And if you wish to change into light mode, you can find the toggle button (still in development) at the top menu location!

If you experience any issues with the dark theme, please try clearing your cache first or view in incognito mode. If the problem persists, please report the issue to [email protected]

Are you touched by my dedication towards providing a better reading experience to the readers? If you do, then please turn off your Adblocker and give me your moonay you weebos and shower us with your love and support!

[New Series] Not Sure, Another World Reincarnation

Not Sure, But It Looks Like I Got Reincarnated in Another World will begin publication on Re:Library starting this month forward. I am looking at a release of 1 chapter per week with our current funding, if you like this series and want to read more, please consider pledging to our Patreon page. 🙂

Although it’s a shame what happened with The Ancestor of our Sect, that’s fine too, if we look at the bright side, now we can use the funding initially allocated to that project towards Not Sure, Another World or Female Knight & Dark Elf. Now the problem is which project should I push the funding to…

[Manhua] Rhapsody of Mulan

Don’t mind me, just trying my hands at translating a manhua. I got pulled into it by one of my Editors. This series actually already have 39 chapters released (19 according to the previous scanlator). I’m re-doing it from chapter 1 for obvious reason, low quality scans available throughout the net, bad translation in some chapters, and the worst offender is that the scans are not following the same chapter sequence as the raw.

I’m just doing this as a side project, so don’t expect much. We probably would take a bit of time before catching up to chapter 40, so if you can’t wait that long, go ahead and read the scans from the other team~

[Pickup Series] The Ancestor of our Sect

Due to a certain request on this post, I’ve decided to try my luck at reaching out to the translator of The Ancestor of our Sect Isn’t Acting like an Elder. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t expecting anyone to reply as I left a comment on the translator’s site, but to my surprise, I did receive a reply about half a month later.

Since then, we’ve been in discussion about how we should push forward with the continuation of this series. In the end, it has been decided that Re:Library will be sponsoring this project. This is the third Gender Bender series sponsored by Re:Library, along with Female Knight & Dark Elf and Not Sure, Another World Reincarnation.

Those who visited Re:Library frequently should already know about our Project Gender Bender initiatives by now. I’ve been going out of my way to invite other Gender Bender translators to host their projects on this site in hope of one day making Re:Library into a Gender Bender Haven. As the first phase of our project, we are gathering supporters on Patreon and using the money earned to employ translators for hire.

The plan is going well, too well in fact, as we just gained three more new projects before reaching our goals on Patreon. So to be completely honest with you, I am paying for these three new projects from my own allowance. And also a special thanks to our sponsor, MechaCoin, who has donated an astounding 175 bucks to help fund these projects.

If you wish to support The Ancestor of our Sect and ensure the continuation of this novel, please head on to our Patreon page and make your pledge. For now, refrain from pledging to this project until we’re sure which direction this conflict with another translation group is taking us.

∴ P.S. I am aware another group just re-released the first four chapter, I need to have a talk with him.

[Teaser] The Little Village’s Ultimate Doctor

Here’s Chapter 1!

It’s a new series…or not!

This is a teaser from a web novel that someone recommended on Re-Library’s Discord and I decided to try my hand at translating Chapter 1.

I remember that I still have to translate Chapter 100 for HCLS, but I think people have already forgotten about that series, keke.

[New Series] Female Knight & Dark Elf

Remember the talk last month about hiring a Japanese translator to pick up a Japanese Gender Bender series? No? Well, don’t worry about it if you are new to Re:Library. I will fill you in on the details.

At Re:Library, we have initiated “Project Gender Bender” around late July. Our ultimate goal is to gather supporters on Patreon and use that money to hire translators that will pick up the ongoing Gender Bender series and keep the project alive while the original translator, namely me, will go hunt for new Gender Bender webnovel to translate.

However, since I am a Chinese translator, I cannot do anything about Japanese Gender Bender series, so when I happened to see a Japanese translator for hire, I chatted him up and somehow or another, the talk progressed to the point where I have now hired him to translate this series for me. Of course, since this is an unforeseen circumstance, I haven’t had the chance to gather any patrons to back up this project yet. In other words, I am paying for this series out of my own allowance.

I do plan to slowly gather patrons to support this series and will make the Patreon account available in the coming week. With my current allowance, I can only commission up to 2 chapters per week. Mainly due to the short chapters, the commission fees are also lower (but in reality, the fees for two chapters added together are actually higher than a single chapter with three thousand source word). However, only for the first two weeks, I will be releasing them in a batch of 5. That is an entire month worth of batch! So enjoy the read, and if you have the ability to, please support us on Patreon!

Demon Sword Maiden Fanart Commission

I’ve been thinking of commissioning a fanart for Demon Sword Maiden for some time now and here’s a few scenes I’ve been thinking of:

Option A: A half-naked Lily pressing the katana (with red runes) against her breasts with flirtatious expression. (The scene in the middle of the Mountain Imps raid)

Option B: Uesugi forced a kiss on a struggling Lily on horseback (The scenes on the rainy street of Takeshita)

Option C: ………

The Future of Re:Library

First of all, allow me to thank all the Patrons for your continuous support. Because of your support, a new dream has opened up for us and the future of Re:Library looked brighter than ever. It was because of your support that I was able to hire a translator to take over my project and focuses on my next project. So allow me to express my sincerest gratitude to all my current patrons, to-be patrons, and past patrons. Honestly, thank you all so much for your warm support!

With that in mind, my next plan in line is to execute the same strategy for all my following projects! I will start by gathering support on Patreon, and once there are enough subscribers for my next project (Dragon Princess), I will begin the hiring process and pass Dragon Princess to the hired translator, then I will look for another Gender Bender project to publish on Re:Library.
