Demon Sword Maiden Chapter 65

Well, damn… me and my big mouth… I saw a Japanese translator looking for a paid job, so I approached him with only the intention to ask around, but now it looks like the talk is proceeding towards actually hiring him for the job. What do you guys think I should do? Think of this as an investment and hire him to translate a Japanese Gender Bender series at the rate of 1 chapter per week?

I’m poor so I can only afford 4-5 chapters per month at the rate he’s asking (which is a very reasonable rate, mind you). And this investment comes directly from my own pocket with no support from Patreons (yet). I plan to slowly gather support from the Patreon so I can pay off the translations and turn this investment into a profit. But of course, just like with all my other novels, the more patrons I can gather, the more chapters I can commission from the translator.

To anyone that supports this plan, feel free to suggest a Japanese Gender Bender novel you’d like to be picked up, but of course, if you can support this project on Patreon (not available yet), it would be all the better.

P.S. To Kreyton, if I decide to go ahead with this plan, I can add Yotogi no Kuni no Gekkouhime to the lists of possible translations along with a few others. What I’m planning for now is to have the translator translates the synopsis of a few Gender Bender series and have the Patrons vote for which one to pick up.

  1. Hmm.. well, I still can’t contribute to the patreon, so we’ll see. soon, maybe I’ll be able to.
If you are fine with it and you really are capable of it then you can try, if it succeeds then congratulations and if it fails… hmm.. well, experience is valuable.

    1. Hm… I could’ve sworn I already replied to this comment…

But anyways, the talk has already gone too far for me to pull out now 😅

Already got the translator to translate the synopsis of a few hand-picked novels. Let’s just hope this investment won’t be in vain?

  2. Thanks Silva for the consideration to put Yotogi No Kuni to one of the lists! To anyone that has not read Yotogi No Kuni: Please do, it’s an absolutely good Gender Bender Yuri series with a good story and good art. There are misunderstandings, but it’s so good that it doesn’t make you want to rip your hair out, and actually builds the character and advances the plot (think of it like Overlord misunderstandings, where his subordinates think Ainz as sort of all-knowing being), the premise was so interesting it pulled me in the first chapter. Also, oh god the sister’s love for the MC (who is an imouto of a princess) is so precious & wholesome oh my god. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, try to take a ookl at novelupdates. There’s only 9 chapters as of now, though.

    1. if I do pick that though, I think I might ask the translator to redo the translations done by UndedTrans, so you’ll have to wait for the 2nd month before new chapters start coming in…

      1. If you don’t mind me asking, why is it that when new translators take over, they redo the chapters back from the start? 🤔 Wouldn’t it make sense just to continue where the previous group left off?

        1. One of the reason is that there might be a difference in the terms used in translations, picking up a translation mid-way without a term sheet from the previous translator can be a trying task to identify all the previously used terms. Like the names of the characters, places, items, etc.

But in this case, it’s mostly because the translations done by UndedTrans is really bad. That’s why I specifically mentioned UndedTrans and not Bored Trans.
