Objectives of the General Purpose Patreon

While I’ve made cursory mention of the General Purpose Patreon before, I’ve never went in-depth as to why this page was created. That is why I will be clarifying a few things about the General Purpose Patreon in this post.

First of all, this page was created at the request of a friend who keeps nagging to me about this at every other opportunity and there were also a few readers who expressed that they do not care about the reward and just wanted to support the site, and that is how this page came to be. I am not expecting to get much out of this Patreon page but it will be a nice little bonus if we do get anything at all.

Next, while we said you won’t be getting any benefits from subscribing to this page, the money we earned will be used for the few purposes listed below, from highest priority to the lowest:

  • Future Upgrades:
    • We have many things planned for the future, starting from the creation, promotion and merchandising of Re:Library mascot characters, to website and discord revamp such as new banner, logo, emotes, etc.
  • Supporting Authors:
    • We will use what little extra money we earned from this page to purchase e-Books from official sources such as Bookwalker or SFACG to support the authors.
  • Fan Art Commissions:
    • When we saved enough money to make a commission, we will find an artist to draw a fan art of the most popular characters from any of the series Re:Library is translating.
  • Translation fees:
    • It’s not easy to keep all the translators paid when you have to deal with more than ten people at once. We have a Patreon page dedicated to gather funding to pay the translators but sometimes it’s still not enough as the earnings constantly fluctuate. In extreme cases, we’ve had to drop a few series because we simply do not have enough funding to justify keeping them ongoing, so any extra money we can earn is a godsend.
  • Site Upkeep:
    • While we have Fana to thank for hosting Re:Library for us and keeping our upkeep fees to the minimum, we do still have to pay for a few things such as the domain license, Cloudflare Pro and other miscellaneous fees.

I hope I am able to shed some light into the objectives of the General Purpose Patreon and if you are financially able and is feeling generous, you can find the links to our Patreon pages down below in the “Support Us” section.

Regarding Toxic Comments on the Site

It has recently come to our attention that some readers on Re:Library have been displaying quite a toxic behavior towards the translator here for their sporadic schedules and we want to remind you that such behavior is highly prohibited.

Firstly, let us stress that it was not the translator who deleted the user’s comment, it was deleted by the admin, so stop harassing the translator. Secondly, there are two different types of project on Re:Library; sponsored and freelance. Sponsored projects have fixed schedules and we understand if people are wondering what’s happening and asking why we didn’t publish it on time, but freelance project is something the translator did out of their own free time, they do not get any money from this and we will not tolerate people harassing the translator for faster updates. Translating is not an easy job and it can often be stressful at times, you condemning them does not help the cause, AT ALL. In fact, the only likely scenario is that it will demotivate the translator and make them stop translating once and for all.

IF you absolutely want to read, why not take up the time to study the language yourself and binge the raw all at once instead of waiting for that one per week chapter or two?

[New Series] Ragweed Princess

Before we start, I just want to stress that I have a feeling the author knows we’re translating the Hero King webnovel, whenever we’re about to catch up and decide to pick up a new project, the author suddenly released dozens of new chapters. And this happened twice in a row. Hero King was supposed to end with 269 chapters but now it has 309 chapters. That’s more than enough chapters to keep us going strong for another few months!

However, I have decided to push Hero King to the side in favor of picking up a new novel we’ve been eyeing on for some time. The reason being we will eventually catch up again at this rate, so we will be translating Hero King at a slower pace as we put our main focus on the new novel, The Ragweed Princess of the Livitium Imperial Kingdom.

For now, the plan is to release 1 chapter of Ragweed Princess per month until we run out of Hero King chapters to publish. If you’re currently subscribed to Hero King on Patreon, you will continue to receive update for that in addition to the Ragweed Princess. That’s the price of one for two, it’s a steal! If you haven’t subscribed to Patreon already, you can find our Patreon page in the support us section below.

[New Series] Greetings, Automata Maid

Today, we are happy to announce that a new project will soon be published on Re:Library. Greetings, Automata Maid is written by Shizuku on the popular Japanese web novel platform, Syosetu, and will be translated by Nomad. The summary goes like this:

The main protagonist is an automaton maid, the greatest masterpiece yet of the greatest witch, and she decided to hide her memories out of fear of being hard reset and has decided to be an obedient automata. She is then taught by the witch magic and general chores, registered as an adventurer to learn more about society and make her a better creation. After a while, the witch’s daughter comes home and gradually fell in love with her. She sees the daughter as a child (which she is) and see her admiration as a normal admiration of a child towards an elderly figure. So, she actually actively sees the daughters attempts to get close to her as the actions of a single child suddenly having an older model.

Status Update & General Purpose Patreon now Available

We realized Re:Library’s growth has stagnated for a while now and not much new projects have been published recently. Since Re:Library has grown bigger, we also started playing it safe and try to keep our monthly profits in the green, but that has clearly not worked out too well seeing as we haven’t seen much growth since. As such, we’ve decided to take a small risk and cover some of the funding for the new project from our coffer. The latest project on Re:Library is 80% funded by a number of generous patrons and 20% by Re:Library.

Some of our publisher(s) even opted to not receive their share of ad revenues and keep it in tab to help pay for our ever-hardworking translators. And of course, we must also give thanks to Fana, who continues to host Re:Library on her server for free, which has really cut down a lot of expenses for hosting a site on a dedicated server.

We obviously won’t be able to keep funding for new projects from our coffer for an extended period of time so if you are financially-able, please consider subscribing to one of our Patreon pages here: https://re-library.com/project-gender-bender/

There have also been voices asking for a general purpose Patreon for a while now so we have started this page: https://www.patreon.com/relibrary

You will not get early access chapters by subscribing to the general purpose Patreon page, the main intention of this page is to accumulate extra funds to commission fan arts or new emotes for our Discord server (https://discord.gg/re-library), to cover the payment of the translators, or any site upkeep such as renewal of domain and Cloudflare.

[Announcement] Unscheduled Maintenance

This news is brought to you by our web hosting provider, Fana. It has almost been two years since Fana had offered to host our website on her dedicated server for free. What an amazing two years it was! But of course, this isn’t bad news by any means, Fana will continue to host Re:Library for us, but since she has recently applied for a new job, that means the server has to go.

Fana plans to take some time tomorrow to migrate our site to a new server that she owns, we don’t yet have a fixed time on when this will be happening but please expect the site to be down for at least 30 minutes some time soon for maintenance.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

New Year Update & Future Plan

Re:Library wishes you all a Happy New Year. Another year has come and gone, we wanted to thank everyone who has been reading on this site and has been supporting us for all these years, especially the Patrons. Without their support, we will not be able to come this far and continue providing everyone with free webnovel translations to read.

To start off the New Year, we will look back on 2021 and reflect on what we could have done better. Beginning on March 2021, ever since Not Sure, Another World Reincarnation has finished publishing, we noticed a sharp decline of patrons, which is only natural seeing as that was our most popular series. We tried to fill in the gap with a new series, The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist, but that didn’t work out too well as the translator had to drop due to personal reasons after working with us for two months. As the consequence, we had to continue hunting for a new translator while our monthly revenue continue to fall, which ultimately led us to drop a few of our least performing novels such as Blue Sky and Loli Elf.

In the meantime, two of our Chinese translators have also gone missing in action since around mid-2021. One of whom has just recently reached out to me and informed me that he caught COVID and had been hospitalized for months. While the other one is still missing, he’s probably too busy with a new job and family obligations. As a temporary solution, I’ve enlisted the help of a friend to translate Reborn as a Transcendent while I work on Demon Sword Maiden along with a co-translator.

Year 2021 had been a pretty shaky year for Re:Library with the lack of translators and constantly decrementing revenue steam. We have finally managed to recruit two new Chinese translators and one new Japanese translator around late September/October, and things are finally starting to settle down. There is a bit of a catch, however, with our revenue continuing to drop from March 2021 until November 2021, our profit has dropped into the red for the past two months and I had to pay the translators from our past savings.

I have shared our earnings, expenditures, and profits earned in 2021 with the patrons, if you wish to learn how we’ve spent the money donated to us, you will unfortunately have to subscribe to one of our Patreon pages due to the confidentiality of this information.

Future Plan

I am hoping that this all will change in 2022. Now, moving on to our plans for the New Year, a few translators have expressed their interest to increase their workload, which means more chapters for a selected few novels. The only problem is that, right now, we do not have enough resources to pay the translator, which is why I will soon be setting new goals in our Patreon pages.

As of now, Reborn as a Transcendent only releases 2 chapters per week, I will increase that to 3 chapters per week should we meet our goal in Silva’s Patreon.

The next novel in line is Hero’s Redo, currently at 2 chapters per week. Similarly, I will increase this to 3 chapters per week upon reaching the goal in Nomad’s Patreon.

Lastly, our new translator for the new series Strongest Swordsman’s Re:START has expressed strong interest in the novel and wishes to translate more, please help us pay the eager translator by subscribing to Musubii’s Patreon. We have two goals for this one, by reaching the first goal, we can increase weekly release from 2 to 3 chapters, and if we reach the second goal, we can make that into 4 chapters per week!

Of course, the aforementioned only outline our immediate plans. As for our long-term plan, we naturally wanted to pick up more Gender Bender novels to publish, but I will put that on the back burner for now until we accomplish our immediate goals.

[New Series] Strongest Swordman’s Re:START

It’s been a while since we’ve had any good news but today we’re happy to announce that we’ve finally found some new translators to join the Re:Library family and proudly present to you one of the newest projects which we’ll be publishing in the near future. Please give our new Japanese translator, Jiro, a warm welcome. He has done a superb job on this novel and I look forward to more of his translation!

As of yet, we haven’t decided on the schedule for this project, but once we do, you’ll be the first one to know it! Without further ado, please enjoy the first chapter for now!

[Closed] Re:Library is Recruiting

As I have outlined in the previous update, Re:Library will be dropping a few series due to various reasons, such as poor performances of the novel or the translators not being able to keep up with his work. As such, we will have a few vacancies open for Chinese/Japanese translators.

We are looking into the possibility of hiring a Japanese translator to pick up The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist or some other Gender Bender web novel, and Chinese translators for the Loli Elf and quite possibly even the Transcendent in the near future.

If you have the necessary skills and is interested to earn some side income, please sign up using the form in this LINK.

Blue Sky Survey Form

As per the previous announcement, we will be dropping Blue Sky in favor of a new series due to the poor performance of the novel. Please understand that we don’t make this decision lightly, but since we are urged to make a poll by our loyal supporters, I’ll take this chance to reaccess why Blue Sky is underperforming and try to get some public opinion.

Do you read Blue Sky?(required)

Are you a Patron?(required)

If we lowered Blue Sky to a cheaper Tier, would you subscribe to Patreon?(required)

If we pick up Blue Sky again in the future, would you read it?(required)

[Breaking News] Status Update

Hi all, it’s been a while since I made any status update, but today I have a few very important news to share.

Firstly, regarding Demon Sword Maiden, our current translator had a lot of issues to deal with, and he still does, therefore, we’ve hired a new translator to take over the work from him. The latest chapter was from the new translator. What do you think? The quality is not bad right? I actually plan to have the new and old translator work in pairs so each translator will have a lower quota to submit each month and effectively lessen the stress for them, but I still have no idea how this will work out since the old is still dealing with a bazillion of real-life issues.

Next, about Transcendent and Loli Elf, the translator for both of these series has been kind of pushing his limits these days, quoting that “keeping a schedule with a family like mine has been very difficult”. He has been late on submission for the past few months already and as of the moment of this writing, I still haven’t received the full July batch of Loli Elf from the translator. The deadline for August is also fast approaching so I am not hopeful to receive the August batch of Transcendent and Loli Elf any time soon. I had been in talks with the translator and we agreed that if he’s late again this month, he will drop Loli Elf, but if he still keeps being late despite that, I might have to reconsider my future plans.

Lastly, Blue Sky doesn’t seem to be performing as well as we hoped, the views on the site are low (by 50% compared to our next least popular series and a staggering 80% compared to our most popular series) and the number of patrons also didn’t exceed 20. We have been making quite a huge loss every month to keep this project ongoing for as long as it has, not to mention the additional fee to hire an editor for this project. It is not an easy decision to make, but we will have to drop Blue Sky in favor of a new novel.

Bearing in mind all of the above, we will need be recruiting new Chinese/Japanese translators to take over existing (or new) projects. If you are confident in your language and writing skills, or if you know anyone interested to earn some side income, please join our Discord server and DM Silva#3719.

[New Series] The Villainess becomes a Commoner

Hello all, it’s been a while since we’ve had a new series on Re:Library. The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist didn’t work out last time due to some complication and now that Succubus’ Life in Another World is coming to an end, we finally have an open slot to add a new novel to our shelf. The Villainess becomes a Commoner is a Japanese Gender Bender web novel based on a man who is reincarnated as a rich family’s daughter who’s hated by the public and how he(?) managed to cope with his new life. It even has a manga too! Do enjoy the read.

P.S. Oh yes, I forgot to mention a few things since my mind was too occupied with setting this up but we will begin publishing the second chapter onward starting on Aug 29, a day after the last chapter of @Succubus’ Life is published. Additionally, each chapter will be split into two parts since they are all longer than 4k Japanese characters each.

[New Teaser] The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist

It has been a while indeed since we added a new novel to our library. There are many reasons, such as monetary issues, lack of manpower, communication trouble, and some such. We were supposed to have the translator of Another World Reincarnation pick up this project after she was done with the last batch of Another World Reincarnation, but due to life issues and many other obstacles, the last batch was delayed until this day. With that said, however, we finally received words from the translator and Another World Reincarnation should be resuming publishing next week. This will be the last work of Mii for Re:Library.

On another note, we have also found a new translator who will be working on our new project, The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist. As for why I labeled it “New Teaser” instead of “New Series”, the reason is very simple. As I’ve heard from others that this series has a lot of formal language, which makes it hard to translate, I dare not hope the translator will be able to keep this up for long, so for now, I will have Shurim translate the first batch and see how it goes. If the translator says he’ll be fine, then we will officially push The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist to full project.

Oh and might I remind you that we are doing the webnovel version, so please do not confuse this for the light novel version that Ziru’s Musings is (or was) translating.

[New Teaser] Strongest Player Cultivation

I promised to publish a new teaser after finishing volume 1 of My Loli Dude, and here it is! We put up a poll on our Discord server and 19 out of 48 of you chose After Genderswap Reincarnation, I Raised the Strongest Player, also known as Strongest Player Cultivation.

I know what some of you might be thinking, the title is different from when I first announced the novel, well, that’s because it is! The title and synopsis sometimes don’t make sense until you actually started to read or translate the chapters. That’s why we’ve been holding on publishing this for a while since we wanted to make sure we get the title right.

I’ve secretly published the first two chapters already over the last 2 weeks in case you haven’t noticed. Those who actually found it, kudos to you, but for those who haven’t, here are three new chapters for you to absorb! Enjoy!
