During her travels, Iris spotted multiple human towns and villages.
Of course, since she didn’t want to meet them, she passed them by.

However, this time was different.
She was going to check whether this grass could be sold or not.

If it is possible, she would be able to buy a new pajamas and something to eat.
As a demon, Iris supplements herself by sucking the magical atmospheric magical power but the density of the magical power near the church wasn’t up to her satisfaction.
Without any food, she would starve to death.

With that as a reason, Iris landed in the closest human town but………
She has been hiding in a building’s shadow since a while ago and didn’t have the courage to leave it.

「Uu……..people are walking…….they have pleasant conversations……they will definitely come to talk to me once I get out…….Ah, see, every person around comes to greet that human! S-Scary……」

Iris was waiting for a timing to get out on the main street.
However, there was no indication of the human presences disappearing.
There was no end to human voices.
The humans will definitely disappear during the night.
If it’s the empty main street, Iris can walk around with confidence.
However, the shops are closed during the night too, so she won’t be able to appraise her grass.

「How troublesome…..such a difficult hurdle………」

「Puni……」

Punigami let out an exasperated voice with Iris still on top of him.

「W-What!? This is my first time in a human town, it can’t be helped! Still…….this town didn’t look that big from the sky, for it to have so many people inside……There are many more towns even bigger than this one……..the extermination is indeed impossible for me. Besides, dying seems to be painful……I don’t want to bring pain. They’d be too pitiful」

「Puni」

「You know the feeling of death because you nearly dried up at the bottom of that well? Fumufumu, as I thought, it’s painful……..un……..let’s give up on the extermination. Let’s go back without accidentally killing anyone」

「Puni!」

「Pathetic」angrily cried Punigami.

「But……..you know. That stall owner tries to sell his vegetables to every passerby. I don’t have the confidence to refuse……..scary…….so easily speaking with strangers…….humans are scary」

「Puni!」

「Eh, Punigami, why are you moving on your own, ah, you can’t! There is the main street in that direction, the main street!  S-Stop! 」

Disregarding her desperate pleading, Punigami jumped out on the main street.
At that moment, she became the focus of attention of all the people in the vicinity

「Oh, there is a girl riding on a slime here」
「Monster user, huh. How rare」
「She shouldn’t be a child of this town. Is she a traveler at such a young age? 」
「Her silver hair is incredibly beautiful. Where did she come from? 」

She heard a variety of voices.
Iris felt as if every single person in this town was staring at her.
No, in reality, there were some people on the main street, who didn’t pay her any attention.
There were those, who only briefly glanced at her before turning away, as well as those, who didn’t even look at her in the first place.
As for the ones, who were discussing Iris’ emergence, they were only a part of the crowd.

However, for Iris, the actual number held no importance.
In her vision, she was surrounded by strangers, who were eagerly talking about her.
Embarrassing.
I want to leave this place immediately.
If I won’t, I will die.
But even so–

「Young lady. You’ve found quite a big slime to be your comrade. Even though you are so small, very admirable. Here, a candy for you」 [1]

A granny spoke to Iris. [2] There wasn’t any substance behind those words.
Here, one is supposed to give a casual template answer.
In other words, completely meaningless chatter.
She didn’t know how to answer.
Iris came to know terror.

「Awawa………thank you for a candy, awawawa」

Iris was barely able to utter her thanks for the candy.
That was her limit.
What should be said next?
Right, let’s eat the candy.
Lick lick
Delicious.
No, wrong.
It’s not the time to lick a candy!
I need to say something.
Can’t think of anything.
My eyes are spinning.

「Punipuni!」

Punigami advised learning about the places that can give a price for her grass.

「A, aa, are there any, any, any shops that deal in me-me-me-medicinal h-herbs?」

She bit her tongue and couldn’t even understand what she was saying herself but the granny managed to hear it with her miraculous hearing ability and told her with a grin.

「Medicinal herbs? There is one. So you were indeed a traveler. How admirable. I’ll guide you to it, come here」

「T-T-Thank you very much」

Iris chased after the granny on Punigami’s back.
Like that, they arrived at an old store.
There was a wooden sign stating「We are also buying」hanging in front of the shop.
It was exactly what she wanted.

「Here it is, Besides the medicinal herbs it also deals with a variety of travel supplies」

「Aa………thank you………for guiding me here…….」

「So small but can thank people properly. Here, another candy」

「T-Thank you very much」

「So hardworking and so cute. I will give you one more」

「Thank you verymush」

They arrived at a loop of candies and gratitude.
After Iris collected about 20 candies in her hand, the granny finally ran out of them.

「Ara, sorry. There won’t be any candies anymore. I’m truly sorry」

「N-No. I re-received so many from you, t-t-thank you very muf」

「So cute. Instead of a candy, I’m going to pet you」

「Hieee………」

After that, Iris was being patted until the granny was satisfied.
For someone, who had her heart jumping out of her chest after a light conversation, headpats held a fatal danger. I did well living through this, Iris praised herself.

「A-Anyway, we’ve arrived at the shop that can appraise my grass. My communicative powers aren’t to be underestimated」

「Puni」

Punigami too praised with「you worked hard」.
Having obtained her confidence, Iris grasped the grass tightly and entered the shop.

「E-E-E-Excu-cu-cu-cuse m-m-m-m-me」

「Ah? What are you saying, young lady? 」

The moment she entered the shop, she immediately attracted the attention of a beardy shopkeeper, who had a wondering expression.
Iris’ confidence crumbled in a second.

「No more. I’m going home」

「Punipuni!」

With Punigami getting angry at her, she barely managed to restrain herself.
She took upon this challenge once again.

「T-This grass………I think it has medicinal value, I want to know……..how much does it cost……..I mean, I don’t want to be unreasonable……………I want you to look at it if you can……..kind of」

Although mumbling, Iris managed to properly state her business and placed the grass on the counter.

「Grass? Is it medicinal plant of something…….is this?!」

The shopkeeper, who nearly lost his interest, immediately grabbed the grass the moment he laid his eyes on it.
Apparently, unexpectedly to Iris, this grass had some value to it.

As the shopkeeper was busy appraising, Iris decided to look around the shop.

It wasn’t that wide.
Maybe enough to fit around ten beds.
On the shelves filling this small space there was a suspicious potion, weirdly shaped wands, a dagger, dried meat, ropes, candles, parchment, tableware, a crystal sphere, a skull, and a lot of other miscellaneous goods.
There was only one customer besides Iris.
A slender man with a nervous look on his face.

Once Iris saw the slender man, 「there is a customer, scary」she trembled.

「Young lady…….this herb…….isn’t it the elusive elixir grass! What kind of magical power did it suck to become like that!? It’s useless, I alone am not capable of appraising it……」

The shopkeeper seemed to be busy changing his expression from an ecstatic one to a disappointed one.
Apparently, the grass brought by Iris was an amazing item.

「Um, that……is the elixir grass that amazing……? 」

「Of course it’s amazing!」

「Hiyaa, please forgive me!」

The shopkeeper cried out loud and Iris reflexively apologized.
Seeing this, the shopkeeper made an apologetic face.

「Ah, no, my bad. Still…….where did you get this thing?  I will tell you since you seem to do not know anything but the elixir grass is considered omnipotent compared to the other medicinal herbs. It will treat your illness if you eat it, heal your wounds if you grind it, make your body stronger if you make tea from it……..something like that. Of course, it is rare and doesn’t circulate very much. After all, it can only grow in the soil with abundant magical power in it. And I’m sure that this particular elixir grass didn’t suck your ordinary magical power. If my eyes don’t fool me, I can see a rainbow-colored magical power. There are even ten of these grasses……….sorry but my shop can’t afford this thing」

Regretfully said the shopkeeper as he stroked his beard.
Iris too was disappointed.
She gathered her courage and finally arrived at this step, not being able to get a price is troubling.

「A, ano………It’s okay if it’s cheaper, can you please buy it………..? I really want to sell this grass……..if I won’t be able to sell it now I…….」

If she won’t be able to sell it now, she will try to negotiate with another shop and die from embarrassment.

「You seem to have some complicated reasons behind this……but are you really okay with this? In my shop, you can only see the price reaching to your feet」

「Will you buy it if I show you my feet…….? Then I’ll do just that! 」[3]

Iris, still sitting on Punigami, took off her boots, stretched her legs, and displayed her feet.
As for the shopkeeper, he said

「So cute…….」

and blushed.

「W-What!? What was that!? Pervert! 」

「W-Wrong! It is unreasonable to call person a pervert when you have such beautiful legs on display! 」

Protested the shopkeeper.

「I-Is that how it works……….?」

Iris wasn’t confident so she tried asking Punigami.

「Puni…….?」

However, Punigami wasn’t that sure either.
After all, no matter how competent, Punigami was still a slime. [4] You can’t expect him to be knowledgeable about the human common sense.
Iris might be even more knowledgeable in that regard.

「A-All right…….let’s do it this way…….tell me the highest price you can give me for these ten elixir grasses. If it convinces me, I will sell…….! 」

「Very well……..I can give you one gold for each. In other words, ten gold in total」

Spiritedly said the shopkeeper.
However, Iris felt troubled.
Even if he said ten gold, she had no idea how much was that worth.

「Ten gold…….how long can I live by myself if I use this money frugally……..? And I have a place to stay, so you don’t need to count the rent」

「Un…….If you don’t include the rent, it should last for two to three months……no, if you spend it frugally it may even last half a year」

Said the shopkeeper as he thought.

「Half a year! Amazing! But I want some new clothes too……」

「Then half a year might be impossible. Well, three months should be fine. If it’s not enough…….you can bring it to a different town, they will give you more than twice a price. Are you still going to sell it to me? 」

「……I will! For now, I just need money! 」

In addition, going to a different town is troublesome and scary.

「Understood! You seem to have something going on, I won’t ask any further! Here, ten gold! And no『I’ve changed my mind』shall be accepted later! 」

「Yes, that’s what I wish for! I did sell ten elixir grasses for ten gold! 」

Iris received a bag with ten gold inside.
She felt great satisfaction at her ability to finish the negotiations.

「I did it!」

The shopkeeper too rejoiced with tears in his eyes.
After all, Iris sold her mysterious elixir grass for a price that was much less than its true value.
As a shopkeeper, he was quite satisfied with this.
However, since the shopkeeper didn’t hide that it was「unreasonable」Iris didn’t have any complaints either.
A wonderful win-win situation.

「Later I will bring more of this grass! Later! 」

「Really!? Until we meet again! I can profit greatly even with these ten」

The shopkeeper brought the elixir grass deep inside his shop as he danced in joy.
Iris also left the shop as she danced in joy on top of Punigami.

When Seiya and the rest entered the tower, they saw its wide interior along with a stairway leading up.

Then, Seiya vigilantly proceeded up into the room. After discovering nothing dangerous, he gave the rest a sign and climbed the stairs.

Upon reaching the second floor, they were greeted with the same wide room as before with the addition of some human shadow. That being said, there weren’t that many of them and they weren’t particularly strong either.

When Seiya tried to cast『Dark Wave』in their direction, he was stopped by Selena.

「Leave them to us. We will show you our resolve」
「Shall we do it? 」
「Let’s go」

The student council moved to demonstrate their resolve to Seiya.

Selena pulled out her magic guns and run towards the center of the room. The enemy soldier that stood there was surprised at her sudden appearance but immediately pulled out his own gun and tried to pull the trigger.

However, no bullets left his barrel. The reason being, he wasn’t able to pull the trigger.

Looking closely at the gun, its trigger part was frozen. Of course, it was Aishi who did that.

Selena released the red mana bullets towards the defenseless enemy soldiers decimating them one after another.

And Mona’s knives decimated those, lucky enough to survive.

「This is our resolve」
「How about this?」
「We can do it」

Towards the student council members and their daring appearance, Seiya said with a smile.

「You’ve passed. Your resolve is true, no doubt」

Hearing his approval, the student council rejoiced. However, Seiya’s words didn’t end with just that.

「But you took too much time. We won’t be able to maintain secrecy like this」 [1] 「Uh……..」

Groaned Selena.

「Whatever. This brings an end to our cover. From now on, we shall go with fanfare」
「「「「「Eh? 」」」」」

Seiya grinned and lifted his hands towards the ceiling. No one understood what was happening. However, Seiya didn’t mind and activated the spell.

「Let’s go.『Dark Cannon』」
「Are you kidding me!?」

Accompanying Selena’s voice, the ceiling above them disappeared. Seiya spell, as its name suggests, was a simple spell that fired mana of the dark attribute forward.

By doing this, he made everything up to the 10th floor disappear. Of course, there were plenty of enemy soldiers on those floors but they disappeared without a trace.

「Hey, lolicon! It was an overkill however you look at it」
「Seiya, you overdid things……..」
「Seiya, it was amazing! 」
「This is…….I don’t have any words to describe it」
「Amazing…..」

They complained about Seiya’s rough approach but it was a fact that the number of enemy soldiers decreased considerably. However, at the same time, their team was discovered and the rest of the enemy soldiers started descending under the sounds of the alarm.

When Seiya tried to climb higher, he noticed a certain something.

「Crap, there are no stairs」

The rest couldn’t understand what he was saying. Looking in a direction of the stairway, they found nothing except for the now beautiful and smooth surface of the tower.

「Hey, what have you done?」
「Relax, We have Lily. If you don’t mind, Lily」
「All right! Come! Gedo-chan! 」

Once Lily said that, a big water sphere appeared and transformed into the water dragon. The team immediately climbed on the back of the dragon made out of water and flew towards the upper floors.

「Eliminate all the enemies as we fly up」

Saying that, Seiya released one『Dark Wave』after another annihilating the enemy troops.

Yua created the Yurial and released the arrows of light destroying the enemies around them. Lily too pierced the enemies with the water laser.

Selena, with her magic guns, Mona, with her flying knives, and Aishi, with her ice projectiles. They kept robbing the enemies of their lives.

Only after reaching the 15th floor and getting off Gedo-chan did they proceed on foot.

A lot of enemies awaited them in that room. In a room that was much wider that before, about 1000 soldiers of a greater than before strength waited for them with their weapons ready.

「Apparently, the enemies are prepared for our arrival」

Said Seiya as he summoned his favorite swords, the Hollins. Yua took a stance with her rapier, Yuriel, instead of her bow, Yurial. Lily and the rest also assumed battle positions.

Right before everyone sprang into action, Seiya said.

「The one, who defeats the least amount of enemies, is going to buy everyone’s lunch for a week when we return to the Leiria Kingdom」

As he said that, he activated『Mantle of Light』, explosively accelerated, and went forward destroying the enemies in his way.

「Seiya, unfair…….」

Saying so, Yua activated『Single Light』and went to destroy the enemies. The enemies stabbed by the Yuriel didn’t die immediately. However, in a moment they burst from the inside in a gruesome manner.

It was just an act of Yua filling the enemies with mana of the light attribute and causing them to explode from the inside but the enemies, who weren’t aware of the light attribute, were in terror.

「Lily won’t lose!」

Lily released one water laser after another accurately piercing their hearts. The enemy soldiers could only see the appearance of Lily penetrating 10 people with one water laser as merciless.

Gazing at this spectacle, Mona suddenly said.

「Let’s join them, shall we」
「Mona?」
「This is a fight with our lives on the line. We resolved ourselves to come here. The same goes for our opponent. It seems that our resolve is still too weak.
Here, in this place, I shall demonstrate my resolve one again. I won’t hesitate any longer. Besides, I don’t want to be the one to buy everyone’s lunch for a week」

Said Mona with a smile, pointed at the enemies with her cane, and cast her magic.

「Tempest」

Myriad of knives flew in the air destroying the enemies one after another. There was no hesitation in their movements, just the intent to defeat the enemy.

「Mona……」
「Selena-senpai. Let’s do it」
「Aishi? 」
「This is not the Leiria Kingdom. I think that we were too naive. That’s why I’m going to do it」
「Aishi」

Aishi said as such and made an ice creation. Twin swords. With the twin swords in her hands, Aishi plunged in the midst of enemies.

She cut down the enemy soldiers one after another with her twin swords and, once someone got behind her back, she changed her swords into the katana and pierced him.

After that, she changed it into a spear, ax, knife and many other weapons destroying the enemies in the process.

Watching the two, Selena became aware of her own naivety. Regarding this plan, Selena thought that she had the biggest resolve of everyone present. However, in reality, she had the smallest one.

(I can’t continue like that. My goal is to save my mother)

Selena made a decision. No more hesitation.

「The abyss of the fire maiden, manifest『Atos』」

Selena’s『Atos』, as if to respond to her determination, fiercely branched towards the enemy.

The red laser and its twenty thousand branches hit the enemies burning their bodies. The enemies tried to avoid the laser but sine『Atos』was of the tracking type, their efforts bore no fruit.

The red laser burned the enemies one after another.

In such a manner, the enemies were annihilated. Seiya and the rest, who were the main reason of their annihilation, climbed the stairs to the next floor. On the way, Seiya suddenly said.

「According to my calculations, bird woman killed the least. Bird woman, once we return our lunches are on you」
「Why is that!?」
「Why, she said. Because you defeated the least amount of enemies」
「Arara, Selena, I leave everything to you」
「Selena-senpai, you’ve got it」
「Thanks………」
「Thanks, big sister Selena! 」
「Eh? Were you serious back then? 」
「Of course」
「You have to be kidding me~」

They arrived at the seventeenth floor as they had such a conversation. However, different from the previous floors, it wasn’t wide and only had two doors.

「Apparently, we need to split up into two teams here
「Looks like it」

For a moment, everyone’s faces became serious. That was also a proof of the student council’s newfound determination.

「All right then, how should we split….?」

Thought Seiya as he stared at everyone’s faces. Since they showed their intention to follow his arrangement, Seiya split the team in the most efficient and safe manner.

「Considering the possibility of encountering the dark element it is better for me and Yua to act separately. Also, Lily, who can transmit information without a telepathy stone, should join Yua’s team…….」

Until this point, the division happened easily. The problem comes after.

Who should join Yua and Lily? Normally he should have chosen Aishi with her weapon skills but considering her affinity with Lily it could become a problem.

On the other hand, choosing Selena is troublesome in its own way. Thus, Mona became the natural choice.

「Mona, join Yua and Lily」
「Understood」

At that time, Seiya didn’t know. He shouldn’t have put Mona and Lily on the same team.

「That settles it. I don’t think I need to remind you but our operation’s goal is to rescue Moka Fenix. As soon as you discover Moka Fenix, immediately report and retreat. Avoid needless fighting as much as possible. You aren’t permitted to die」
「Yeah, I understand」

Like that, everyone separated and entered their respective doors.

Right before opening the door, Yua hugged Seiya, whispered「cheating is prohibited」in his ear, and left after a deep kiss, as well as some other things occurred, however, Moka Fenix rescue operation finally entered its second stage. [2]

Seiya, Selena, Aishi
Yua, Lily, Mona

No one knew about the tragedy that will result from this choice.

「Puni, puni」

Iris woke up with a cry of the slime.
It was still morning.

「Fuaa…..I’ve slept for so long yet the sun is…….eh? Did I sleep for three days? Sorry. Your body is just too comfortable….it must have been hard on you being my bed all this time」

「Puni」

Since it was troublesome to touch it every time she wanted to read its thoughts, she assembled a simple activation-type translation spell.
Like that, she was able to hear its speech already translated.

「Fumufumu…..you took a stroll with me still on top of you. I did well not to fall…..」

「Punipuni」

「Eh? Since I’ve slept for three days, I should take a bath? Even if you say that, I wonder if there is a bath in this church」

Since Iris was just sleeping all the time, forget about the surroundings, she didn’t even examine the church.
However, it seems that the slime investigated to a certain extent while she was sleeping.

「Puni」

「To do it without a bath? Don’t ask for impossible」

「Punipuni」

「 Will you become a bath yourself? What are you…..wa, waa! 」

Although Iris was deeply embedded in the slime in the first place, she suddenly sunk downwards.
Her whole body was enveloped in a cool and squishy feeling.
As of now, Iris had only her head sticking out with her whole body covered by the slime.

「Ah……..how dangerous…….what is this, this feels so good……」

「Puni」

「A, ah………you can’t, if you massage me in such a way I will…….」

「Punipuni」

「I’m being washed, I’m being washed」

Inside of the slime’s body, Iris was diligently washed, touched, and caressed. [1] She felt as if she was washed to the extent of cleaning out all of her pores.
Then, she surfaced once again.

「Fuaaa…….it was so good that I almost fell asleep……..」

Muttered Iris with unfocused eyes.

「My whole body became so clean and smooth…….amazing. It feels as if I was born. No, I was born just a while ago……..in short, it’s even better that being born! 」

Somehow, she could even see her skin shining.
There wasn’t even a single speck of dust.
As she traced her skin with her fingers, it felt good enough to become an addict.
Even though it was her own body!

「You aren’t only amazing as the bed but also as the bath. You are the God! 」

「Puni」

「From now on, I shall call you Punigami!」[2]

「Punipuni!」

Apparently, Punigami liked that name as he jumped around in joy.

「All right, all right. Since I became clean again, how about a nap? 」

「Puni!」

「Eh? Do you want to show me something? 」

「Puni!」

Punigami carried Iris outside the church.
There should have been nothing but barren lands outside.

The church’s surroundings, the village and everything around it. Barren lands extended beyond the horizon.

However, during the three days when she didn’t leave the church plenty of grass grew around the church.

「A lawn!  Eh, why? I have no idea how this happened but let’s roll first!」

Iris jumped down from Punigami and started rolling around on the lush lawn in her naked beauty.

「Puni」

Punigami rolled together with her.

「Awawa, so fun. But how did the dry land grew grass on it in just three days? Is it because I revived the well nearby? 」

「Puni?」

「It seems that everything below this hill is still barren. Will it become a grassland sometime in the future?…….Oh? 」

Iris discovered a strange grass, different from all the other.
All of the other grasses were only reaching her knees.
However, this particular grass was much higher and bigger.
It didn’t only look different, it also emitted a faint magical power.
Squinting her eyes, she could see a pale rainbow-colored light

「Is it’s rainbow-colored, eh, can it be my magical power? Did it suck my magical power? Did it appear because I was carelessly emitting my magical power as I slept? 」

「Punini?」

Cried Punigami in a manner that expressed his lack of understanding.
However, that was the only explanation capable of explaining the rainbow-colored magical power she could come up with.
When she tried to concentrate, she was able to perceive faint traces of her magical power in all of the other grasses.
It seems that Iris magical power was the cause indeed.

「Un………So I turned a barren land into a grassland just by sleeping…….I can’t make careless actions. It seems that I have no choice but to become a shut-in! 」

Iris was in a pleasant mood upon discovering an excuse to stay indoors.

「That being said, this grass. If it has so much magical power, it should also have some special effect. Like a medicine. If I sell it for lots of money………」

「Puni?」

She didn’t know for sure where to sell it and whether it had any value in the first place but she still plucked this grass.
When Iris made a round around the church, she discovered quite a few grasses of the same kind.
For now, she collected ten of those.

「I didn’t spend anything to grow it, I won’t lose a thing if it won’t sell. It was useless originally anyway. However, I need to visit a human city to confirm it……..」

「Puni?」

「Punigami. Can you try selling this grass in my place? 」

「Puni!」

Hearing Iris ask him for a favor, Punigami responded in a spirited manner.
Nevertheless, it was unrealistic however you look at it.
Since he couldn’t speak human tongue, he was doomed to fail at the first step.

「Uu……It seems that I have no choice but to do it myself…….But humans……..How should I start the conversation……….I’m scared」

「Punipuni!」

「Y-you are right! I have Punigami with me! Even if it is impossible for me alone, it should work out if I’m with Punigami! I’m sure of it! 」

For Iris, who only talked with demons and monsters, a human is an unknown existence.
She struggled to have a prolonged conversation even with her fellow demons, to speak with a human……she became nervous just thinking about it.
However, having Punigami be her side was reassuring.
If it gets out of control, she can just hide inside Punigami and escape.

「A-All right! Let go to a human town! Those humans aren’t s-scary at all! I can do a proper greeting! I can even talk about the weather……..!」

「Puni!」

「That’s the spirit」encouraged Punigami.
Iris tightly grasped the grass, jumped on Punigami, enveloped him in her magical power, and flew into the air.

She composed herself and headed towards a human city.
However, midway she noticed that she was naked, returned to the church in panic, and wore her clothes.

  1. I’m trying to change all this punipuni and munimuni into normal words but maybe I should stop.
  2. Gami stands for god, just thought I should mention it.

「…….Huh. Is it already night? 」

When Iris woke up, it was already dark outside.
After applying the night vision magic, she went outside.
There, she saw a beautiful starry sky.

「Amazing……This is the first time I can see the starry sky without any clouds………」

The Kurifot continent, which is the home of the demon race, was always cloudy and she could only see the stars after slicing the clouds apart.
Everything is an act of harassment from the gods in heaven, or so everyone said.

Iris wished to never leave her comfortable capsule but, upon laying her eyes upon this starry sky, she changed her thinking.
As long as there is such a beautiful scenery, being outside of the capsule is not that bad.
For the sake of this starry sky, let’s stay in this church.

「Even so, I’m thirsty……I wonder if there is a well nearby」

Iris walked around the church.
When she was flying in the sky, she was afraid of human auras but, since there were no humans around here, she could stroll with confidence.

Like that, she discovered a well behind the church.
However.

「It’s dried up……..」

That made sense.
The village, as well as the church, have been abandoned for more than a hundred years.
The surrounding area is a wilderness in the first place.
From the existence of the well, one can make a conjecture that the environment wasn’t always that harsh.
For some reason, the surrounding and the well dried up and the residents left this place.
Such a sad development. However, for Iris, it was very convenient.
As far as the well goes, it’s fine to revive it with Iris’ magical power.

「…..There are no signs of water below the ground….only a big cavity. Then, if I enchant this cavity to produce water using my magical power…………done」

The water was swiftly being produced below the ground.
Only to erupt with an amazing momentum.

「Wa, wa. Too much momentum! Need to tune it down a notch……」

She adjusted her spell to decrease the rate of water production.
Following that, the geyser calmed down and the water stabilized at a level that was just enough.
Iris used the bucket to gather some water and drank her fill.

「Puha……such a tasty water. That being said, I’m soaked……and there is no change of clothes………」

For the moment, let’s dry the clothes with a warm wind created from my magical power.
However, the lack of clothes does indeed pose a problem.
In the first place, the clothes I have now aren’t the best to sleep in.
I want to somehow get high-quality pajamas.

「I would have brought it from the Demon King Castle if I knew…….」

For a moment, she thought about going back to the Kurifot continent to fetch some but going back without killing even a single human would be quite awkward.

「I will by the pajamas here……don’t have any human money…….you need to find a job to earn money…..no……don’t want to work…….」

Before leaving the Kurifot continent, Iris learned about the human common sense to a certain extent.
You need money to live and you need to work to earn them.
Working means encountering humans.

「Instead of working, it’s better to sleep naked!」

After she arrived to that conclusion, Iris took off her clothes, threw them on the floor, and slayed down.

Next morning.

「Aa~~ I’ve slept well. It feels completely different without any clothes. I want some pajamas to be honest…….not like anyone is watching me」

Iris woke up in a pleasant mood.
Yesterday, she took an afternoon nap as well as wasted her time sleeping during the night, however, for Iris, nothing brings more joy that a sound sleep.
If the Great Demon King saw her now, he would have cried and gave up on her.

「First, one cup to celebrate my awakening」

Iris, still naked, walked towards the well.
However, she was met with an unexpected sight.
Some jelly-like mass blocked the well with its blue body.

「Slime…….? Why is it in this place? 」

「Puni」

The blue slime jumped out of the well and approached Iris.
It was quite big.
It was impossible for Iris to embrace it even using both of her arms.

「Puni! Punipunipuni」

「I don’t know what you are talking about……I’m going to read it, so wait for a bit」

Iris touched the slime’s surface.
It was cool springy and extremely pleasant to touch.
Like that, she read its thoughts directly.

「Fumu. So you were drying out on the bottom of this well」

「Puni」

「So you want to swear loyalty as a sign of your gratitude? Even if you say swear…….Well, you are quite pleasant to touch, having you around will be a lifesaver. With your size, you can even be a bed」

「Puni!」

「I can use you as a bed immediately? Then let me accept your offer……..」

Iris entrusted her body to the round slime and fell down.
Because she was naked, the cool springy feeling of its surface was directly transmitted to her skin.
It was much more pleasant than she expected.
Since she slept on the couch before, that pleasant feeling especially stood out.

「Y-You are the best! I don’t want your loyalty but I can use a friend! 」

「Punipuni」

The slime nodded using his whole body and went inside the church with Iris on top of it.
And Iris fell asleep in a bliss on top of her supreme slime bed.

Iris was currently flying above this land called the Barei continent.
The Great Demon Kings said「rich lands with plenty of humans」and the scenery below her was exactly like that.

Landing near a big city is out of the question.
To come in contact with multiple humans, too scary.

She thought that the depths of the forest would be fine and decided to examine it closer, however, it seems that there are plenty of humans hunting the monsters and animals. Looking closely, there were even settlements inside the forest.
This is out of the question too.

Having given up, Iris left the forest and flew above the grasslands.
However, there was a village even there.
Also, there was a developed transportation network including a lot of carriages and people.
No matter where she went, there was always a possibility of meeting a human.

What a frightening place.
As I thought, killing so many humans would definitely bring unending troubles.
However, I can’t find a place to shut myself in.
At this rate, I will have no choice but to make circles in the air for the rest of my life–or so Iris concluded.

However, when she finally left the grasslands and arrived in the wilderness, the presence of humans finally disappeared.

(The air is dry here…….)

Apparently, it was a relatively rainless region.
Neither plants nor animals can exist without any water.
The absence of humans is a matter of course.

On the other hand, Iris, being a demon, can survive using the magical power in the atmosphere.
The magical power wasn’t particularly dense around this area but if it’s Iris, the strongest biological weapon, she had no problem living for a week without drinking or eating.
For now, I’m going to look for a place here.
As for the rest, I can think it through after a nap.

(There is a building in such a place……..but there are no human presences…….)

Iris, who developed an allergic reaction to humans over the course of her travels above the Barei continent, was especially sensitive in regards to their aura.
She didn’t only use her sight and hearing but also perceived their magical power, and, once found, took evasive maneuvers.

This wilderness was so dry that making it even dryer will turn it into a desert.
There shouldn’t be any people here.
Despite that, she still discovered several buildings in this place.
Most likely, it was a village in the past.
It was abandoned later and now is in a state of decay.

「The roofs and walls are full of holes…….they won’t be able to shield me from winds and rains like that」

Iris muttered to herself as she landed and strolled through the ruins.
However, there was a sole building on a nearby hill that still retained its shape.
Once she approached it, she discovered that it was a church.
Same as with the village, there was no human aura.
The stained glass on the walls is mostly in pieces.
However, since it was made out of stone the ceiling and the walls were still there.
This should be enough for a temporary inn.

As soon as she thought that and tried entering the church, something huge flew above her making a shadow on the ground.
At the same time, a very powerful aura reached her.

Being greatly surprised, Iris looked at the sky and saw a red dragon flying above her. With a deep roar, the dragon landed in front of Iris creating a strong gust of wind.

Anyway, it’s big, was Iris’ first impression.
There were dragons on the demons’ island, the Kurifot continent, too.
Even though she was already used to seeing them, with her short stature she always felt them being big.
It’s head reached above the church and it could cast a shadow on everything around just by spreading its wings.
Such a dragon looked at Iris with hostile eyes and bellowed.

「Who on earth are you? You have guts to intrude into my territory. If you are to immediately leave, I’m willing to forgive your offense. However, if you are going to defy me, I will crush you! 」

Unexpectedly, the dragon had a female–or more like a young girl’s voice.
However, the content of its words was quite dangerous.
It didn’t try to conceal its hostility and even displayed its intention to take a life.

Iris decided to let it know that she didn’t have any hostile intentions.

「I apologize for stepping into your territory. But I didn’t know. I just wanted to find a place to take a nap tonight. If you can lend me this church, I won’t ask for anything else」

Since Iris didn’t talk with humans, she had no confidence in speaking fluently but, because she thought of monsters being the same as her in some regards, she didn’t get nervous yet.

「I refuse! This church is also my sleeping place! I don’t want to share it with you! 」

Screaming, the dragon lifted its forefoot and dropped it on Iris.
Any human will be met with instant death.
Even an average demon will be injured after being stepped on by a dragon.
However, Iris Crisis was far from ordinary.
She is a biological weapon created to exceed the Great Demon King and eradicate the humans.
Common sense doesn’t work against her.

Iris accepted the dragon’s foot with one hand and pushed it back.
The dragon couldn’t possibly expect something like that. The dragon’s balance crumbled and it fell down creating a tremendous sound in the process.

「A-Are you okay…….?」

Iris, who didn’t intend to go that far, rushed over in a hurry.
However, the dragon got up by itself and glared at her with a sharp glint in its eyes.

「Y-You……! You sure are daring! I won’t be lenient any longer. Turn into ashes! 」

A red magical reaction occurred inside of the dragon’s mouth.
After that, crimson flames gushed out with great vigor.
Converting a gigantic amount of magical power into offensive magic, the Dragon Breath.

Apparently, it didn’t joke when it said about turning her into ashes.
In that case, Iris had no choice but to come up with a suitable counterattack.

「–Reflection Barrier」

Iris released her rainbow-colored magical power and created a wall in front of herself.
When the Dragon Breath collided with the barrier, forget about breaching it, it was reflected back as if light reflected by a mirror.
In other words, the dragon ended up roasting itself with its own flame.

「Uoooooooo, hot, hot, hoooooot!」

The dragon rolled around the hill.
It looked rather pathetic but it was enough to create a small earthquake.
Weak demons may even die after being caught up in this.

「D-Damn, make sure to remember me! I will definitely reclaim my territory! 」

Once the flames were extinguished, the dragon flew away leaving behind some parting words.
There were tears in its eyes.
Somehow, it’s cute, thought Iris.

「All right then. I’m sorry for that dragon but with this, my bedding is secured. It’s still noon…..let’s go to sleep right away! 」

Iris opened the door of the church as she hummed a song.
The insides of the church were much tidier than she thought, there was even some furniture left.
Iris used a couch as her bed and napped in happiness without being disturbed by anyone.

01 Suddenly Searching for a Place to Shut Herself In

In a dimly lit room without any windows stood a capsule. The capsule was filled with liquid and a girl was suspended inside.

Long silver hair. A delicate body that was in the middle of its growth phase.
She was beautiful enough to mesmerize any observer, however, because she was too perfect and beautiful, she seemed somewhat artificial.

And more than anything else, a pale rainbow-colored light emitted from her white skin gave her an air of mystery.

The girl’s name was Iris.
The daughter of the Great Demon King.
However, she didn’t grow up in the womb.

She was grown inside of this capsule based on the Great Demon King’s genes.

Iris’ ego developed about a month ago.
Apparently, the process of growth itself began about a year ago.
In front of the capsule, the Great Demon King and his subordinates were discussing something.

Iris didn’t ever leave this capsule, however, she could understand their words.
She learned that she was a biological weapon made from the genes of the Great Demon King.
Her mission was to eliminate the humans.

「Magnificent…….please look, Great Demon King-sama. All numbers are above the expected ones. Iris is much more powerful than we expected. Even I, the one who developed her, can’t explain why this is happening. To be honest, I won’t be able to replicate it even if you tell me to」

「Kukuku……..as expected of my daughter, who inherited my own genes. With this power, the humans are doomed to be destroyed, this world will belong to the demon race. No, it won’t be just that, with this power, we may be even able to invade the heavens and topple the gods」

In front of the capsule, there stood the director of Iris development project and the Great Demon King.

Iris didn’t see a human yet but she knew that they looked exactly like the demons.
The only difference is their lifespan.
The Great Demon King is three hundred years old. The head researcher is above six hundred.
However, it seems that the humans don’t even last a hundred years.
Regarding the magical power, the demons are stronger too.
But even like that, the demon race was defeated in the ancient war and forced to live in a corner of the world.

The reason is simple.
There are overwhelmingly more humans.
In exchange for its long lifespan, the demon race has low fertility.
Even while living for a thousand years, a demon won’t be able to produce more than two or three children.
On the other hand, the humans can produce more than ten if they are really into it.

The war that lasted for decades greatly reduced the number of demons.
Of course, the human side lost a lot too but more and more warriors kept popping up.
The demon race seemed to be dominating at first but, before everyone noticed, the human made a great comeback.

More than a thousand years passed since that war.
The number of demons didn’t increase much, however, the humans multiplied tremendously and conquered all the lands around them.

Trying to solve the problem of『numbers』, the demons heavily invested into improving『quality』even further.

To make children between two exceptionally strong demons, giving the children a thorough education — at first, it was among those lines. However, they couldn’t predict how many ages that would take, leaving aside the low success rate.
For increased success rate, it’s much better to mass-produce the『strong』.

That’s where the biological weapon comes from.
To cultivate it inside of the capsule using the genes of the demon’s strongest, Great Demon King Berberus.
Of course, no one believed in its success at first.
They finally managed to develop a stable technology after endless failures. That’s a natural process in developing a new technology.

However, the first run of this technology turned out to be a great success.
No, since her specs were much higher than expected, it can be considered a failure.
Nevertheless, they made one step towards the creation of a powerful fighting force to oppose the humans.
It may be even possible to eliminate the humans with just the first one.

「That being said…….the color of her magical power is so beautiful. Almost like a rainbow……..」

Said the Great Demon King as he gazed at the capsule.
The magical power surging from Iris’ body. It shone with rainbow colors and was leaking outside of the capsule.

The color depends on an individual’s magical power.
Whether it’s red or blue, it changes depending on a person emitting it.
It’s not formally established which color is superior but the people with red magical power tend to be talented in magic of the fire system while those with blue magical power in magic of the water system.
With her magical power being rainbow-colored, there was a possibility of her being talented in all kinds of magic.

「Iris. The time is coming. When your body is completed, you will be released upon the world and make the world belong to us, the demon race! 」

Shouted the Great Demon King.

「Yes. Father…..」

Iris gave a short answer.
However, she didn’t feel herself being powerful.
They said that she was strong but, in reality, she didn’t rampage even once.
The device examined her magical power and body deeming it strong. In the first place, Iris never saw the humans that she should destroy.
She didn’t know how wide the world is.
She only knew this capsule and this dim room.
Being told to do it, she could only nod in agreement, failing to understand anything.

Three days later.
After finally leaving the capsule, Iris saw the ancient Demon King’s Castle for the first time.
And the only place where demon race is allowed to exist, the Kurifot continent, which is one big wilderness.
Only the demons and a few monsters inhabit these lands.

The Great Demon Kings all said that the Kurifot continent is located at the farthest end of the world.
Her goal was to make her escape from this place one day.
However, the sheer size of this place made Iris, who didn’t know the world outside her room, dizzy.

As per the order of the Great Demon King, she launched an explosive spell on the coast of the Kurifot continent making a big crater.

Seeing a gigantic mushroom cloud, the great Demon Kings cheered out loud.
With this, we will definitely be able to take over the world, they raised a commotion.

Like that, the biological weapon, Rainbow Disaster (Iris Crisis), answered the demons’ expectation and flew towards the land of humans on her black wings.

However, Iris was tormented by suspicions and doubts as she flew over the wide ocean. Eventually, as she reached her destination, seeing the world spreading beyond the horizon as well as multiple towns and villages, she was convinced.

「To destroy all of this……uwaa, how troublesome………tsk! 」

Yes.
Contrary to the other demons, Iris didn’t resent the humans.
Even though it’s said that they pushed the demon race all the way to the Kurifot continent, she was quite comfortable even in her capsule.
Rather, seeing this wide world made her lose all of her motivation.

There are definitely many humans living here.
Don’t wanna.
I was nervous even with my fellow demons, meeting with strangers is scary.
I want to be a shut-in!

「I don’t want wide places……need to find a narrow place somewhere…….I want to sleep all day」

Thus, Iris Crisis, a biological weapon made using the pinnacle demon technology, abandoned her mission and started her search for a place to shut herself in.

Feeling something soft on my lips, I woke up. Not willing to part with this feeling, I kept my eyes closed and enjoyed it. A soft something slowly entered my mouth. Enjoying it with my everything, I opened my eyes. I was greeted with Mei’s beautiful face.

「It’s morning, Master」

Mei’s body is warm. It’s just perfect since the temperature became colder recently. Only after hugging Mei and tasting her lips once again did I got up from the bed. Mei too stood up and dressed.

「How regretful」

「Is something wrong?」

「I’m not able to see your beautiful body anymore」

She showed a smile on her face and silently became naked once again. Her appearance in the rays of the morning sun was like that of a piece of art. I couldn’t help but become mesmerized.

「Master……too, it’s morning…….」

Assumed a troubled expression Mei. I came back to myself, wore some clothes, and came down to the dining room with Mei.

After eating breakfast prepared by Peris, I rode on Irimo to the imperial palace. When I arrived, I saw about 100 knights lined up before the palace gates. Besides them, there was also an old general on the horse. It was Rafaiens.

「Sorry for the trouble. Shall we depart? 」

The knights moved without disrupting their formation. I had Irimo run next to Rafaiens.

「You are good at handling horses」

「No, this horse is just excellent」

「It seems to have a rather short stature, I see, it’s indeed a smart horse」

He couldn’t see her horn and wings but even like that, this general was able to feel her splendor.

「Can I ask you something?」

「What could it be?」

「How did Oshe and his men lose?」

「Why are you interested?」

「No, you can’t learn much from a victory but you can learn a lot from a defeat. You can think that I ask it for the sake of the future」

「Well. I don’t really mind…..」

I told him about the fight yesterday. Regarding the geryons, I told that it was a coincidence.

「…..I see. First time entering the forest and even with an unstable footing. A suicidal act. Most likely, they were shaken by an unexpected ambush from your troops. The vanguard retreated but the earth turned into a mess because of the horses. At that point, they were attacked by the geryons from the side. Oshe did well surviving that」

「Eh, I didn’t hear much about the retreat but I think they did well」

「Did Oshe say something?」

「…..No, nothing important. His face was pale, his breathing was rough, and he couldn’t say a complete sentence. A man named Kunogen currently acts as his substitute」

「Kunogen, huh. If it’s him, he can handle the troops. I see, so it was Kunogen, who ordered the retreat. A fortune amongst the misfortune」

The general looked into the distance with a lonely expression as he nodded to himself.

「Rinos-dono, I wish to increase our speed. Are you okay with this? 」

「Yes, no problem」

Rafaiens rode his horse with an incredible speed. The knights were able to match his speed without any problem. Both Irimo and I followed after the general in a hurry.

It takes 1 day to reach the Kurumfar mansion from the imperial palace on foot. It takes half a day on a horse but, with our speed, we arrived in just three hours.

「General, there!」

Rafaiens’ speed finally dropped. Despite running for so long, his breathing didn’t change much. This uncle and his men are surprisingly competent.

Upon arrival to the hotel, Rafaiens immediately headed toward the room where Oshe and the others were detained. According to Kuena, except for having a bit of soup yesterday, they neither ate nor slept.

The suite room was tightly guarded. I told Pius about the general’s arrival and had him open the door. As I entered, I saw the three sitting in the same places they were before with Kunogen silently sitting to the side. And around them, there was a circle of Pius’ mercenaries.

As he looked around the room, Rafaiens discovered Kunogen, nodded at him, and quietly sat before across Oshe.

「Oshe」

His body trembled and he slowly raised his head. His face looked terrible. And, once he saw the old general, his eyes opened wide and he started trembling.

「A…….u…….u……」

「You don’t have to talk. I heard about yesterday from Rinos-dono. You did something utterly stupid. Do you know why did you lose that fight? 」

Oshe’s head dropped down.

「Kunogen, are you aware?」

「…….Without taking the situation into account, he irresponsibly moved his troops, I guess」

「Well, you aren’t wrong but that’s not what I want to hear」

「Your Excellency….」

「Oshe, you lost this fight because you were supposed to lose. The reason being, you moved the troops without my permission. You defeat was predetermined the moment you lied to me and moved the troops at your own convenience」

He spoke gently but his every word had a tremendous weight behind it. Oshe was about to cry.

「Your Excellency…….this failure was brought by me……..I have no excuses」

「That’s right, Kunogen. You, who didn’t stop Oshe, have to share the responsibility too. However. You did well ordering that retreat. Most likely, at that point, you have already assumed command of the retreating troops. It wasn’t an appropriate conduct but considering Oshe’s state at that moment you didn’t have much choice. You did a good job. You can praise the retreating squad」

「Your Excellency……」

Kunogen’s voice was hoarse and Oshe’s head still hung low.

「Oshe, Kunogen, let’s go back to the capital. We need to return the soldiers to the capital too. As for you, you can do what you want. Prime Minister Guremont wanted your execution or exile but I don’t think so. It happens that I’m in charge of your treatment. I’m thinking about pardoning you. Rinos-dono, you may not be convinced with just this but can you agree with me? 」

Rafaiens stood up and turned towards me, who was standing in the back.

「That’s how it is」

The commander of the northern army lowered his head.

「From my subordinates’ misconduct, I want so offer my sincere apologies」

「……….Understood. Please raise your face」

「I’m grateful, Rinos-dono. In the future, I’ll make sure to make amends. If something ever happens, please make sure to tell this Rafaiens. I’ll do as much as I can to help you」

「Likewise. Even though I had no choice, I did inflict serious casualties on the Northern Army. I express my condolences for the victims」

「Thank you」

Oshe and Kunogen cried. They cried a lot. Jiono and Gragoleir watched it happen with pale faces.

「Well then, Baron Jiono and Baron Gragoleir. You are the nobles of the empire, not my subordinates. However, a sin in a sin. When you reach the capital, I will personally watch over you. This morning, when I departed from the imperial capital, I received a direct order from His Majesty. It seems that His Majesty wishes to speak with you personally」

As if all the power left their bodies, Jiono’s and Gragoleir’s heads hung low.

The captured four were detained by the general. As always, Oshe couldn’t walk by himself and relied on Kunogen.

Meanwhile, I ordered for Tohotsu and Kairiku to release the captives and prepare to hand them to Rafaiens. And once the general mounted his horse once again,

「Well then, I shall return to the imperial capital immediately. Rinos-dono, let us see each other again there」

he said and departed. As I saw him off with my eyes, I ordered the harpies to watch over them. I don’t think that Rafaiens will try to launch another attack on me but just to make sure, I tracked them with the harpies and on the「Map」.

However, I was concerned for no reason. Rafaiens expressed his gratitude to the people of Kairiku and Tohotsu, gathered the captives, and departed just like that. At the same time, he efficiently gathered the bodies of the dead.

「Impressive. That’s how a soldier should be」

「General Rafaiens in a famous individual. Indeed, when you look at him up close, you can understand why he is revered by the people so much」

「Manipulating people with emotion. We should learn from him」

「Right」

I spoke to Pius as the general left.

A week later, Rafaiens stood before the throne of the emperor of the Hideta Empire, Hideta Shua Hito, with his head lowered.

「So, how did you settle those two?」

「I had Oshe retire. He can’t talk and walk properly, any further military service is impossible for him. I sent him in Kesherina for his retirement」

「Fumu, Kesherina, is it? It’s a warm land in the south. This place is perfect for recuperation」

「Yes. Most likely, it isn’t something that can be easily fixed but I still hope that he will be able to spend his life there peacefully」

「So, what about the other one?」

「I had Kunogen retire too. However, letting go of his talent will threaten the empire……..」

「Are you saying that you restricted him just like Jiono and Gragoleir?」

「Well, something like that. I sent him to work under a trustworthy person」

「I see. You can just expel a soldier and that’s the end of the story but that won’t work against the nobility. It will be a pain to decide on the next successors of their respective families」

「Your words are full of wisdom」

「That being said, Honorary Marquis Versam’s skill is superb. Hearing the story from you, I had my heart racing first time in a long while. I will hear the story from him personally at a later date but that would be the same as asking him to brag」

「Yes. One should never be hostile with that person. From this perspective, I deeply admire His Majesty for having Ricolette-sama marry him so fast」

「No, I just made this proposition because I thought that he suits Ricolette」

「That person is loved by the gods」

「By the gods, huh」

「『God of War』 if I’m to put it into words. I sincerely don’t wish to be his enemy」

「『God of War』. How reliable. Even though it’s only on paper but Honorary Marquis Versam is something like my brother. Let’s not think about this too deeply」

「Hahah」

Autumn was encroaching on both, the imperial capital and the Kurumfar territory.

At the moment, the team of Seiya could be spotted in the mountains outside the second district.

That mountain was located near the second district and wasn’t that high, however, the road was rough and uneven. In order to rescue Moka, the team headed to the Demon King Mansion on the other side of the mountain.

IT was around 10 in the morning and the team left the city about an hour ago. Since they used their magic horses, they covered quite a bit of distance but couldn’t see the Demon King Mansion yet.

Only rocks were in their line of sight.

The student council members thought about certain something as they rode their horses.

They thought about the spell『Dark Wave』used by Grisfon just a while ago. They had no recollection of such a spell but they did see a similar thing.

That was a mysterious technique that Seiya used on the adventurers in the guild.

At that time, Seiya just waved his finger and their spells disappeared without a trace. That sight closely resembled the sight of Grisfon erasing Selena’s magic bullets.

At that time, Selena remembered one more thing. Back then, Seiya used an unknown technique to erase the ear of a suspicious person that tailed them from the bar.

Back then, Seiya erased his ear with a wave of his finger and even managed to restore it after that.

Seiya erasing the man’s left ear resembled him erasing the spells of the adventurers. A hypothesis was born inside of Selena’s head.

Maybe that spell, 『Dark Wave』, is a spell capable of completely erasing the target.

Once she arrived at that point, she couldn’t restrain herself anymore.

Selena had her horse come close to Seiya, who was currently riding in the lead, to ask. Seeing her suddenly appearing next to him, Seiya asked with a wondering face.

「What’s wrong?」
「Hey,『Dark Wave』, what is it?」

Seiya’s expression froze for a moment. However, in the next moment, he made a face as if he decided on something and had his horse decelerate.

Upon him slowing down, the rest of the team followed suit. Seiya got down from his horse saying that it was time for a break.

Seeing Seiya getting down from his horse, the rest got down too.

Seiya proceeded to the nearest clearing and told everyone to sit down. Seiya hesitated for a moment but considering the place they were about to infiltrate he had no choice but to talk about it.

Seiya prepared himself and started.

「Thinking of the place we are going to, I feel that I need to make it clear. That being said, you can’t tell what I’m about to say to anyone. If you speak about this in Leiria, the Holy Church will detain you without any questions. Please make a necessary resolve」

Once he said that, he started to quietly talk about the dark attribute.

「In the Leiria Kingdom, there are composite and derived attributes but they basically consist of the fire, water, wind, and light attributes.

However, there is no such thing as the light attribute in this country, instead, there is another attribute in its place. It’s the dark attribute like that of『Dark Wave』you all saw earlier」

Hearing the words dark attribute, the student council turned silent. They thought of such a possibility but upon hearing it personally, their common sense couldn’t keep up.

Seeing their reaction, Seiya remembered that seeing is believing and decided to demonstrate.

Seiya waved his finger towards a nearby rock.

In the next moment, the rock disappeared as is it was never present in that place.

They couldn’t understand what happened but their instincts made them shudder in fear. If this magic is to be used against the target that doesn’t know its effect……Selena got goosebumps just by thinking about it.

Faced with their expressions, Seiya continued with the explanation.

「This was an elementary spell of the dark attribute『Dark Wave』」

Selena and the rest received a shock when they heard that『Dark Wave』was just an elementary spell. It won’t be surprising for this spell to be classified as an advanced one in the Leiria Kingdom. But for it to be treated as an elementary spell. They felt their hair stand straight.

「The greatest feature of this attribute is a possibility of eliminating the chant」
「Without chanting?」
「Right. To be precise, the existence of a chant itself if being erased. For the dark attribute, as for any other, there is also a special effect」
「Is that erasing? 」

Asked Mona. Seiya answered her question with an explanation.

「Correct. Like that, 『Dark Wave』is able to erase the chant. If you meet such a magician, you should immediately run away. Most likely, you won’t stand a chance」
「But can we escape? 」
「Well, that may be difficult. However, there aren’t that many magicians capable of using『Dark Wave』without the chant, so relax」 [1]

Said Seiya while recalling Grisfon.

Although that guy used a magic stone, he did manage to unleash it without the chant. The people on the sides called him an A-rank adventurer because of that.

For that, he understood that being able to use『Dark Wave』without the chant was enough to qualify as an A-rank adventurer and that the A-rank adventurers are rarely seen. That’s why Seiya wasn’t concerned about it too much.

「Is there any countermeasure if your opponent is the dark attribute user?」

Asked Selena. Selena knows the frightening aspect of the dark attribute more that the other two. That’s why she was so interested in a method to oppose it.

「Of course there is. In short, the light attribute. It is said that no other element can counter the light attribute in Leiria but the dark attribute can.
The opposite is also true, the light attribute can contend against the dark attribute. That being said, it is impossible in your case so you better dodge」
「Dodge, he said…….」

Selena became exasperated at his ridiculous explanation. However, Seiya didn’t know any other method instead of dodging.

「In general, the chant is still necessary for the dark element magic. That’s why you don’t have to be so frightened. Is there is one, who can do it, leave him to me and run away. Yua can withstand it too by the way」
「Un…..」

While making unresigned expressions, the team proceeded forward once again. In the end, no one asked「Why can Seiya use the dark attribute? 」.

After another two hours of horse riding, the team finally caught sight of the Demon King Mansion.

The Demon King Mansion was more of a tower than a mansion. Its height was beyond that of the 8-story hotel that they stayed in. That stone tower looked sturdy and intimidating.

「All right then, shall we go?」
「Eh?」

Selena was surprised at his casual approach.

Even though it was the enemy’s stronghold, he started walking as if going to a convenience store in the neighborhood. By the way, the magic horses were bound to a nearby rock.

As Yua and Lily followed closely behind him, Selena and the rest hurried after them.

As a matter of course, there was a gatekeeper near the entrance to the tower, who blocked their path.

「Wait, who are you?」

There were four gatekeepers. The four had weapons and looked competent. However, it had no meaning before Seiya.

「Just have some business with your Lord. Let me through」

Listening to Seiya, who was too familiar with the Demon King, the gatekeepers’ pupils shrunk for a moment but they immediately deemed it a lie and turned intimidating.

In the first place, a boy like Seiya couldn’t possibly be the Demon King’s friend, he was just a suspicious person. The gatekeepers pulled out their swords and pointed them at Seiya and the rest.

「I will warn you only once. If you let me pass, I won’t kill you」

Faced with his relaxed attitude, the gatekeepers became enraged and slashed at Seiya.

「Don’t screw with me!」
「You are the one, who will be killed」
「Prepare yourself」
「Die!」

Pachin

The moment Seiya waved his finger at the gatekeepers, their existence vanished from this world.

To be precise, their bodies were erased thanks to Seiya.

Since Seiya killed them too nonchalantly, the student council members couldn’t comprehend what happened at first. However, when this fact gradually seeped into them, they immediately asked.

「Why did you kill them?」
「Wasn’t that overdoing things?」
「Horrible」

A person was killed before their eyes for the first time. The three had trouble to accept the reality. Perhaps, is Seiya killed them after a hard fight, they wouldn’t have minded it too much.

However, he killed a person too easily.

Of course, Seiya had a reason for that.

「What are you saying? This is a fight. The enemies may kill me if I hold back. This is different from the practice fights in the academy. The other side was going to kill me. We should be ready to kill too」

Seiya’s opinion was a correct one.

Because Yua and Lily have experience in the dark territory, they could easily accept it.

However, the student council didn’t have such experience. Since they ventured into the dark territory the problems were mostly solved by Seiya, they didn’t meet with any life or death situations.

That’s why they couldn’t easily accept Seiya’s actions.

That was also one of Seiya’s worried since the day they departed.

Killing people is not the same as killing monsters. Although it is essentially the same, the hesitation may be born depending on your opponent being a human or not. And a moment of hesitation separates life from death.

That’s why Seiya said once again.

「You can treat it like a war. It’s impossible for everyone to survive, if you want to protect something, you must have the resolve to take something away from your opponent. Even if it’s a life」

The three answered with silence.

「If it’s now, you still have time. Those, who didn’t resolve themselves to kill, go back. You will only increase the risks」

Said Seiya and headed inside the tower. Yua and Lily followed right after.

The three looked at each other and decided on an answer. We came all the way here to save Moka. If you need our resolve, we have it.

The three followed Seiya into the tower.

「So it’s them……」

The messenger of the opposite party, Kunogen, delivered the declaration of surrender to Pius, who had the harpies deliver it to me. As I looked at the names on it, I clicked my tongue. I never thought that they would move the army upon seeing the signs of restoration of the territory.

「It seems that we need to have a serious talk with the leaders」

「Right. Normally, they should have all come here but, as expected, it’s a bit too far. As Pius said in his letter, it seems that I have no choice but to go there myself」

I put Gon on my back and rode on Irimo towards them. I concealed our figures with a barrier and made rounds in the air to confirm the situation. The imperial knights are surrounded by Pius’ squad, the geryons, and the sea tribe from all sides. As for the knights themselves, I didn’t see much because the sky was full of the harpies. Not even an ant can slip through. I landed a slight distance away from the battlefield, canceled the barrier, and rode towards them.

「Pius! I’ve kept you waiting! 」

「Rinos-sama, I was waiting for you. Those are the surrendered three」

The trio of Gragoleir, Oshe, and Jiono was tightly restrained in extreme dejection. Especially Oshe, who had a pale face like that of a dead man. I glanced at them from Irimo.

「We won’t be able to talk here. Move those three to the Hotel Kurumfar. Send a message to Kuena and tell her to prepare a room」

Roger! Answered one of Pius’ subordinates and rode away.

「Isn’t the hotel always completely booked?」

「No, considering the possibilities, one or two rooms are always free. If I won’t do that, the staff won’t be able to change shifts」

While I was discussing this with Gon, a man approached me.

「I’m Kunogen of the Imperial Knights’ Order. I’m deeply grateful for showing us your grace. Originally, it should have been the vice-captain Oshe instead of me but you can see the situation. Although it’s presumptuous of me, I would like to ask you for an opportunity to accompany as an adjutant」

「Ku…..noge, n, don’t…..make….arbitrary……decisions」

Muttered Oshe in uneven breath.

「It doesn’t seem like I will be able to have a proper conversation with this metal can. Fine, Kunogen. I shall permit you to accompany me」

「Thank you very much」

「Pius, bring these four with you」

Since Oshe couldn’t walk by himself, Kunogen was forced to lend him a shoulder.

It seems that this scene finally made the soldiers snap out of their dazed state and follow after him while clamoring. I stood before the soldiers.

「Silence! Assume the formation!!」

It took only a moment for them to restore the formation. They’ve been trained well.

「I’m the manager of the Kurumfar territory, Rinos. You’ve launched an attack against my mansion. With that as a reason, we made defensive preparations. I express my condolences to the dead but this is how the battlefield works. The masterminds will be questioned and trialed but I believe that the gentlemen here only followed the orders and don’t bear any hostility against me. Your return to the imperial capital shall be discussed afterwards. You are on standby until further orders」

I split the knights and instructed Marcel and Kars to watch over them. The soldiers proceeded to their respective towns without any complaints.

「Ferris, Luara, job well done」

「Ehehe. It wasn’t a big deal. That being said, Rinos-san is amazing. You were incredibly cool」

「Teacher was as dazzling as a God」

「That’s enough for the flattery. Return to the mansion and protect Rico and the rest. Geki did well too. Return and rest. The harpies are to continue watching from the sky. Please remind the knights to behave is something goes wrong. Let me know is there is something wrong. Good work, everyone! 」

Everyone energetically replied. I called Ferris as she was about to take off.

「Make some zenzai for the harpies and the geryons once you reach the mansion. Make a lot. We will have some too」

「Leave it to me! Well then! 」

「It hurts, big sister! Don’t be so rough! 」

「Noisy! You will fall if you won’t stay put! 」

The two disappeared deep into the forest as they argued. Irimo and I headed towards the Hotel Kurumfar.

「All right then, can anyone tell me how did this situation came into being?」

「……..」

The meeting in the hotel started with a heavy atmosphere. All three of them stayed silent with pale faces.

Since it is rather troublesome, let’s appraise them.

「……I mostly understood. Did you guys do all of that for the sake of obtaining our harvest? Morons. Did you ever think how many people did you inconvenienced with your stupid ambitions? I don’t have any other words but morons to describe you 」

「…….Like, someone like y-you, can understand us」

Muttered Oshe as if squeezing something out.

「Hey, you over there. Should I remind you about sending your people to a certain death, people, who are either dead now or still live wishing to die?」[1]

Oshe stared at me with killing intent.

「The reason for this battle is your desire for our harvest. Tell me if I’m wrong」

The three silently trembled.

「I shall treat your silence as an affirmation. That being said, you are truly shameless. You immediately wanted to take the harvest of the territory that you yourself abandoned. What kind of logic even led you to this conclusion? The soldiers are too pitiful. Kunogen, what is this army in the first place? You did well gathering this many」

「We are affiliated with the Northern Army, they are the soldiers under vice-captain Oshe」

「How many casualties?」

「About a half is either dead of injured」

「Did you lose so much? You truly are a metal can」

「You better treat us well. If you put my mind into it, I can easily take away your title even with your identity」

「It’s not even a threat, Jiono. I’m not interested in obtaining status in the first. I would be glad to take it easy. Deprive me of my title? Hah, please do! 」

Jiono, turned silent as he bit his lips.

For now, we put the three under house arrest with Pius watching over them. I, on the other hand, headed to the capital to make a report. On the way, I visited Kairiku and Tohotsu to check on the captured knights. There were no particular problems except for the feeling of gloom on their faces.

I tried leaving some food behind to feed them but I was refused by the aunties. Although there are more than 200 of them, we will give them something nice to eat! They said as I headed to the capital with a gratified smile.

At dusk, I arrived at the imperial palace and asked for an audience with the prime minister. After a while, the prime minister and Prince Viras appeared before me. Then, I made a report about the events of today.

「The imperial knights? This is ridiculous」

「Is this…..really true? 」

「It’s true. First thing first, I think that we should return the knights to the capital first」

「Makes sense. Rafaiens-dono is the commander of the Northern Army. It’s better to tell him about it. Someone, summon Rafaiens-dono」

The headquarters of the Northern Army were near the palace so the commander appeared soon enough.

「What?……Oshe did?….I never expected that he was up to something like this」

The commander received quite a shock. He is a silver-haired nice guy but his face now had a shadow on it.

「Understood. Let me, Rafaiens, offer my deepest apologies about this matter. Tomorrow, I will bring Oshe and his men back」

「Even so, I ask to not punish his men in for that」

「Of course. We lost many lives because of Oshe. The soldiers might be the biggest victims here」

Gragoleir and Jiono are going to be detained and it ended up with me and Rafaiens going to the Kurumfar territory in the morning of the next day.

I left the palace, mounted Irimo, and returned to my mansion. I thought that everyone would already be there but I didn’t find anyone. I went straight to the Kurumfar mansion using the teleportation barrier. There, I found Rico, Gon, Ferris, and Luara.

「I made a zenzai. Everyone was pleased」

「Big sister Rico helped us too. Big sister is really skillful」

Only this place is truly peaceful. Then, I explained about the event of today and the plans for the future.

「Seems like a lot of trouble. We would stay overnight in this mansion. I can’t predict what may happen」

「Are going to be all right all alone, Rico?」

「Ferris and Luara are here so I would be fine. If it comes to it, Gon is here too」

「I see, then I’m counting on you」

I hugged Rico and returned to my mansion.

Peris and Mei were waiting for me in the dining room. When I looked at them, I finally remembered that I didn’t eat anything for the whole day and the hunger assaulted me in full force. Let’s make something, I heard from Peris and stood in the kitchen for the first time in a long while. Mei also joined us. As we talked about the things that happened during the day, bread, soup, salad, and karaage from the meat of a golden bird were made by us. I don’t have much of these birds’ meat left. If there would be a day when I return to the Juka Kingdom, I want to hunt them by all means.

Stuffing myself until I was full, I entered the bath together with Mei and then went with her all the way to the bed.

More Very Pure and Ambiguous: The Prequel Update

As you guys can see on my patreon, I put the series on hiatus. It wasn’t something I wanted to do, but between the unexpected workload from the new workshops that I’m in, and another reason that I rather not speak about in too much detail, I’m going to have to do that.

So, it’ll be on hiatus for another week or two, maybe slightly more. During this time, I’ll still continue to stack up chapters, so expect a mass chapter dump when I’m back for the series!

Chapter 126

Preparation

Before everyone left for White Lotus city, Chu Shen got a message from Master Ti Wu. ‘Hey brat.’

‘Yes Master Ti Wu?

‘Remember how I said that I could probably change one of their souls to gain soul sense?’

‘Yes.’

‘Well I think I can do it now. I can change it now and give them a technique that can allow them to change other people.’

Chu Shen immediately became elated. ‘Great, so how do we do it?’

‘We? There is no we. I’ll be doing all the work. All you have to do is find the right guy for me to change.’

Chu Shen paused at that. Who did he want to help? No, it wasn’t a question of who did he want to help but he did he think could be trusted? What he envisioned for this was that the person who had their soul changed would be able to help open other people’s meridians just like he was doing now.

Such a power was dangerous in the wrong hands since one could create an army very easily in this world. Kind of like what Chu Shen was doing now. It was just too dangerous to give to everyone. It would be better to give it to only one person and only allow them to pass it down to only one person as well.

Chu Shen hadn’t actually thought of all this though. It was Master Ti Wu who had explained all this to him before. With what Master Ti Wu had said, Chu Shen realized he couldn’t be casual in selecting someone to pass it down to. Eventually Chu Shen realized it had to be a teacher. The kids were just too immature at this point to trust with something this big.

Chu Shen thought pretty hard on this and consulted with Lucas and Master Ti Wu before eventually settling on the teacher Lidia. She was a very kind and caring teacher. She was the one that looked after the little girl that didn’t want to train. That little girl had practically became Lidia’s daughter.

Lidia was not the leader of the group, Griffith was. Griffith was someone that was very respected. He was a good speaker, listener, confident, and respected everyone. Lidia was the one that was his adviser. It was Griffith that proposed the idea to train the kids at the hunting zones. Everyone asked his opinion after that and eventually he became the focus of the group. When it came time to chose a leader (Chu Shen and Lucas were exempt from this), it was Griffith that won their vote.

Griffith would probably make a good choice for the soul modification. Unfortunately, he was too public. Lidia was more behind the scenes. With that, there would be less chance of her getting kidnapped or assassinated. Finally, Chu Shen decided on Lidia.

Chu Shen approached Lidia about giving her the ability to increase a mages rank. Immediately she became excited. Such an ability was simply too mystical. Who wouldn’t want it? Lidia agreed to it.

“So what do I need to do to gain this ability?” Lidia asked questioningly. She looked to be in her mid-40’s if she was a mortal. She probably still had another two hundred years left since she was a Rank 8 mage.

Chu Shen started to answer before hesitating. ‘Uh, Master Ti Wu. What does she have to do?’

Master Ti Wu sighed. ‘She has to endure some pain. Besides that, nothing else.’

Chu Shen turned back to Lidia who was still waiting for an answer. “Well Lidia, I’m afraid it’s going to be painful. Other than that, there shouldn’t be an issue.”

Lidia sighed in relief. “Good. If there was a chance of dying I’m afraid I would have had to refuse. I don’t want Clementine to have to go through the pain of losing a family member again.”

Chu Shen nodded. “Don’t worry. Everyone is so strong, I’m sure nothing can stop them. After you receive the ability to change one’s talent, we’ll be moving to destroy those sects still in White Lotus City.”

Lidia smiled. “Good. Well, we are only killing the sect members right?”

Chu Shen nodded. “These kids have experienced the pain of losing someone. I am sure that none of them actually want someone else to experience that. They’ve been having group exercises to train them for war and had a good talking to by Su Gagi. It’s been drilled into them pretty hard that we are trying to destroy the sects and not the people. Anyways, we should get started with the whole ability thing.”

“Yes let’s.” Lidia immediately became excited.

“Alright go ahead and sit down.” Chu Shen motioned at the chair right in front of him. Right now they were in Lidia’s cabin sitting at her table with Lidia sitting across from him. Lidia came to the other side of table and sat in the chair he had pointed to.

‘Master Ti Wu, it’s time.’

‘I know that brat.’ Master Ti Wu sounded a bit grumpy. His soul form came out. A bluish green energy formed on his hands. It was his spiritual Qi. The Qi floated out of Master Ti Wu’s hand to form a circle with complex writings and symbols inside it. Master Ti Wu pointed at Lidia and immediately the bluish green energy flew towards her.

It went straight into Lidia’s forehead, completely passing through her skin like a ghost. For a second nothing happened. Then bluish green lines appeared all over Lidia’s face. “AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!” When the lines appeared, Lidia’s face immediately twisted up in agony.

Master Ti Wu’s face was wrinkled in concentration. ‘Brat! Tell her to stop resisting and accept the change! If she cannot, she might die!’

Immediately Chu Shen followed his advice. He grabbed Lidia’s shoulder and squeezed it hard enough that red marks appeared. “LIDIA! STOP RESISTING! IF YOU CAN’T THEN YOU MIGHT DIE!”

“UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!” Lidia howled with agony. Then suddenly, she went limp. Concerned, Chu Shen looked at Master Ti Wu. He looked exhausted.

Master Ti Wu still had enough energy to talk though. “Don’t worry brat, she can’t hear us now. Currently her soul is going through a metamorphosis caused by my soul imprint. She’ll be fine.

“I also gave her the art to copy my soul imprint down a little bit at a time so there won’t be as much pain for the next person, more like an itch than being skinned alive. With this she can pass it down to one more person over a period a year. If that person has a bad personality she can destroy the partial imprint with a thought. There can only be two full imprints at any given time and only the full imprint can allow a soul to gain soul sense.”

Chu Shen nodded. “As expected of Master Ti Wu. You are quite thorough.”

Master Ti Wu puffed up a bit. “Of course. How could an elder of the Void Sect not be thorough? Anyways, you should probably go lay her down on the bed.”

“Wait Master Ti Wu. Was it possible for her to die?” Chu Shen was worried since he had told Lidia that there wasn’t a chance she was going to die and yet Master Ti Wu said she could.

“Hmph. Of course not. Well, there was a possibility but only if I tried to force it. I would have stopped before she was actually in danger of dying. However, I remembered her saying that she couldn’t die because of Clementine. Me having you say that she could die  allowed her to quickly adapt to my soul imprint. If not, we could have been here for another hour.”

Chu Shen was relieved to hear that. He obeyed Master Ti Wu and put Lidia on her bed. Then he left to find the teachers and Lucas. They would be able to leave in order to take revenge tomorrow morning.

Chapter 127

Too Early

Chu Shen found Lucas after he left Lidia in her room. They had some small talk and they even went inside Lucas’ pocket dimension to look around. Chu Shen had been so busy because of Master Ti Wu’s grueling training that he hadn’t had the time to talk to Lucas. He marveled at how much Lucas had gotten done.

“So Lucas, did you really manage to build all this?” Chu Shen marveled at the fusion bottle as the sound of plasma crackling came from it.

Lucas did a pose. “Of course I did. Otherwise, wouldn’t others call me simply a useless sidekick?”

Chu Shen looked confused. “Who would call you that?”

“All the teachers.”

“Oh, yeah. I forgot about that, mister bodyguard.”

“…..Mention it again, and I’m teleporting you to the moon.”

“Sheesh. Anyways Lucas, how did you even get the materials? It seems like you built a lot of things that require some pretty rare stuff.” Chu Shen pointed at the laser cannon in the background.

Lucas shrugged. “The cradle-free fabricator really helped as far as making the bigger things. To be honest though, the real credit goes to the ARD.”

“What’s the ARD?” Chu Shen was confused at this.

Lucas immediately pounced on the opportunity to show off. “A.R.D. stands for Atomic Reassembling Device. Essentially it’s a device that can deconstruct items at it’s atomic level and then reassemble them in any form. For example, taking graphite and turning it into diamonds. All it requires is reassembling the way the carbon atoms are bonded to each other.

“Reassembling items like that is it’s most basic form. What it really does is it can rearrange the electrons, protons, and neutrons inside the atom’s nucleus and electron cloud. By adding more of these subatomic particles to oxygen, one can turn pure oxygen into pure iron. Of course, a room full of oxygen would only turn into a fistful of iron because of how much denser it is.

“There was a lot of rare materials that I had to find before I could even get started with making it. I spent three months just trying to track them all down. After that, I was able to make a ton of stuff without having to leave the dimension. Though I did have to go out every once in awhile and dig up mountains of dirt so that the ARD could transmute them.”

Lucas adopted a pained look at this point. “The only downside is the massive amount of power it drains to do something like that. It’s the reason that I had to make the antimatter generator. Otherwise I would have to use over a hundred Rank 7 beast cores just to power the thing.”

Chu Shen froze. One….. hundred. One hundred. One hundred beast cores!!!! Even if they were Rank 2 beast cores that was an insane amount! Lucas wasn’t talking about such low rank cores but Rank 7 cores?!!!! THIS WAS OUTRAGEOUS! It was like saying ‘I need all of the energy from one hundred Martial Kings’, all of which was needed to power one device!

Lucas saw Chu Shen’s shocked look and rolled his eyes. “Honestly Chu Shen, you should know how much energy is needed to split atoms into their subatomic particles and then fuse them to create the atom needed. Most of the energy goes towards containment. I have to be able to contain the energy of several hundred nuclear bombs inside the ARD from splitting the atoms and then harness that energy to fuse them together. Since some of the energy is lost in the transfer I also have to supply that energy.”

Chu Shen smiled. “You know, I remembered that we really are nerds. Wanna talk about hyperphysics calculations again?”

Lucas smiled back. “Nah. How about we just talk about the calculations I had to do in order to get all this together.”

“Sure. Let’s just get back to the kids first.”

“Honestly, you should stop calling them kids. They’re far more mature than most adults at this point.”

Chu Shen shrugged. “They’re all still five foot at the most. I just can’t help calling them kids even if they do have scars over their faces.”

Lucas shook his head sadly. “It is unfortunate that they had to deal with wild animals day in and day out for so long. Those scars are what made them who they are today though. They’ll soon be able to live without the threat of being killed and will be able to establish the Void Sect, just like they promised.”

Chu Shen and Lucas had approached the teachers soon after they started training at the hunting zone. Chu Shen had asked them to rename the Rising Tide Sect to Void Sect. They happily agreed saying that it was only thanks to Chu Shen that they were able to surpass their former glory. To them it was the representation of a new start, a new age for the Rising Tide, no. A new age for the Void Sect.

Chu Shen smiled. “Yeah, Master Ti Wu should be happy about that.”

Lucas shrugged. “I still think you’re crazy, talking to a ghost.”

Master Ti Wu appeared in his soul form. “What ghost! I’m still alive you brat!” Lucas didn’t respond. Unfortunately, Lucas couldn’t see Master Ti Wu. A soul form can only be perceived by another soul. Lucas didn’t have a soul, or at least, not a soul in the form martial artists knew of. As a result, he couldn’t see Master Ti Wu. As for hearing….. Lucas was just being a jerk.

Currently they were inside a small house Lucas had built after coming out from his pocket dimension. A knock came from the front door. Chu Shen looked over curiously while Lucas didn’t seem surprised at all. His sensors had detected their visitor for some time now.

Chu Shen got up and answered the door. It was Griffith. He bowed to Chu Shen. “Savior, it’s time for us to leave. The army is ready. Everyone has horses like you asked and we are ready to destroy all the cabins.”

Chu Shen and Lucas exchanged a glance. They were ready as well. “Thank you Griffith. We’ll go ahead and join you in a second.” He started to close the door before suddenly turning back to Griffith. “Is Lidia ready to go as well?”

Griffith nodded. “She seems to have a headache but is okay other than that. I heard that you gave her something to cause it?”

Chu Shen nodded. “Yes but it is a private affair between me and her. She will share it when she feels ready. Goodbye Griffith.”

He closed the door and turned to Lucas. “So you ready to go?”

Lucas nodded. “Everything’s already in my pocket dimension. I can teleport the satellites and other….equipment into it anytime I want.”

Chu Shen smiled. “Good, let’s go.”

Chu Shen and Lucas left with Griffith and the others. They rode at the front, to scout out what was ahead. The others didn’t like putting their saviors in such a dangerous position but they managed to get over it. It took a long time, two weeks actually, to get close to White Lotus City.

They were ten minutes away from the White Lotus City when they stopped. They started getting prepared to fight. Chu Shen had spent the last month forging  hand crafted items for each and every student in his downtime. Unlike before, they didn’t have to pay. He had decided that equipping the students was a good thing and he had the money to spare on materials.

He wanted the kids to be as prepared as possible and this was one of the only ways he knew how. Chu Shen and Lucas were off the side a bit, talking about where to position the drones. They were just finalizing their plans when a translucent barrier appeared around Chu Shen.

He turned and saw Lucas was also covered in the same barrier. Chu Shen instantly recognized what was happening. The Heavenly Treasure Pavilion was leaving.

Chu Shen yelled out the door. “GRIFFITH, WE’RE LEAVING! WE LEAVE THE DUTY OF TAKING REVENGE TO YOU!” It would be rude to leave them hanging or have them search everywhere for Chu Shen and Lucas when they would be in a completely different dimension.

Lucas was frantically teleporting all of his work into the pocket dimension. Luckily he already had a program worked out and in less than two seconds everything was secured.

Just like they had appeared, Chu Shen and Lucas vanished into thin air.

A/N: So you guys disappointed by Chu Shen and Lucas ditching their chores? Oh well, don’t you know that your friends don’t help you take out the trash. Why should they be any different. XD

The short bulky man hurriedly walked behind Willard. Although the short bulky man was prideful, he still wasn’t willing to die for his pride. He was absolutely sure there was no offending the youth in front of him. Willard gave him a couple of quick instructions, which further confused the short bulky man. “Why would he be interested in all that?” The man thought. Within a couple of minutes, they both arrived at the scene of their earlier exchange. A look of surprise filled everyone’s eyes as they watched both of them walk towards Willard’s mount.

When the short bulky man arrived at the center of all the bandits that were just starting to regain their mobility, he yelled: “Everyone listen up!” He said as he paused for a second. “My lord over there has chosen to take pity on me, Ahmed, and grant me the blessing of being his servant. From today henceforth the Silver tooth bandit will be under the control of Zalik.” He said with a somewhat pained expression on his face.

“Zalik your primary focus from today is building a statue of Thanus and spread the worship of Thanus to everyone that passes through this forest.” As he finished saying all that, everyone gasped in complete shock. No one understood what was happening except for Baya, who was still a little-shocked hearing it. The bandits turned to one another and started whispering. When did their leader become religious? Was the question that they were all discussing.

“Silence!” Ahmed yelled as he turned to viciously stare at the bandits. Zalik walked towards Ahmed and started whispering to him, “Whats going on boss?” he asked

“Zalik listen to me carefully if you want to still be alive. You must never anger that young man right there.” Ahmed said slightly pausing. “From now on you are the new leader of the silver bandit group. Your only true requirement as of now is to build a statue of Thanus. Nothing else!”

Zalik was confused, but from the tone his boss Ahmed had been speaking, he knew it was serious. Zalik could tell that the youth was quite formidable, but he had no idea how terrifying he had been to scare Ahmed to such a state. From his memories of Ahmed, such a thing had never happened in the past. Even when they kidnapped and killed people of noble standings with vast armies in their control.

Zalik turned and bowed towards Willard. Following his suit, the rest of the surviving bandits all bowed, even though they were still confused. Zalik gathered the bandits that were still alive, taking some of the mounts they had originally brought, he led them back to their camp. On the way, not so much as a single sound was made. Ahmed walked towards where he had left his spear and picked it up.

The old man who was still on his knees had a horrible expression. None of what he saw made any sense what so ever to him. “How did all that happen?” He questioned with a look of disbelief. He was completely shocked at the turn of events, and what frightened him the most was how swiftly Willard had settled the entire situation. He was someone that had dealt with a varying number of warriors, mages and a host of other martial artists. None had ever settled a fight with an elemental energy expert as swiftly as Willard had done. And worst of all, he could not sense the slightest bit elemental energy from Willard.

The old man thought about his previous actions towards Willard and immediately felt a sense a danger. At this point, he was seriously rejoicing at the fact that Lyda had stopped him when he almost berated Willard. He couldn’t help but think about what could have happened to him. A cold shiver ran through his body as he took in a huge gulp of saliva. “He must be in the middle stages of the elemental energy level. A true expert.” He thought to himself. “No wonder he seemed so carefree and could employ some as strong as that.”

Apart from the old man, the remaining travelers had the same expression. Even Lydia Bastich had an expression of shock. She couldn’t believe this was the same person she had thought about saving the previous night. Now everything seemed more like a joke. Who was the arrogant one? Who actually needed saving?

Without saying much, Willard got back on his mount and gestured to Baya and Ahmed to come along. Ahmed had a placid look on his face as he quickly got on a mount and followed behind Willard. Ahmed turned to look at Baya who was beside him and frowned deeply. Although he had given up all ideas of fighting Willard, he still hated Baya from the depths of his heart. As a matter of fact, if he had the opportunity to kill both Baya and Willard he would do so.

Luckily enough for Lydia and the rest of her party, they were able to get some mounts from the ones the bandits had left behind. As they rode behind Willard, Baya and Ahmed, the old man to the side of Lydia was in a deep thought. After what he had witnessed, a new idea started brewing in his mind. Although the man was older, he still had endless ambition. He was able to make it this far in his life because of that ambitious nature and drive. Witnessing Willard’s outstanding performances he started thinking of ways to benefit from it. “What a fantastic opportunity,” he said with a smile on his face.

Baya who caught a glimpse of the vicious stare Ahmed had been giving him, remained calm. He thought back to all the actions Willard had taken since he started following him, and was rather confused as to why Willard had not killed him. Although he felt rather certain that Willard had a use for him, he still couldn’t quite figure out how Ahmed would be of any help to Willard.

************

Over at some corner of the Southern continent, there was a seemingly peaceful waterfall. Hidden behind this waterfall was a well-hidden cave. Within the cave laid the body of a woman surrounded by flashes of green. If Willard was present, he would immediately recognize this woman as Aorah. She laid there unconscious. Surrounding the bed in which she laid were green beads that flashed off and on. The cave wasn’t fancy, it served one purpose, which was seclusion. To the side of the bed was a wooden chair that was currently empty. Although the cave was small, it still gave a warm comfortable feeling.

Moments later, the waterfall that endlessly continued in its motion, hiding the cave in an ever cascading sheet of water suddenly stopped in its movement. For that moment, it seemed like time itself had stopped, giving way to an old who casually floated into the cave holding a black staff and a bag. The moment he landed in the cave, the waterfall continued in its motion. The old man walked towards the bed. He stared at the unconscious Aorah and sighed. He opened the bag he held in his hand, taking out more of the green beads. He replaced the beads with new ones, that glowed even more brightly than the ones that had originally been there.

“Little princess, I have done all I can. The rest is up to you.” He said with a loving look in his eyes.

“Etimoah! I failed you. The little princess is in this state because of my indecision.” After a brief moment of contemplation, the old man sat on the wooden chair and continued staring at Aorah before moving his gaze to the north.

“Something dangerous is brewing,” he said softly. “My hope is that we can avoid all of it.” he finished and stopped thinking about it.

*************

It was dark now, leading Willard and everyone to find a random place in the forest to set up camp. This time around the atmosphere was cold and quiet. No one dared to provoke Willard, as they mostly stayed a distance from him except Baya. From his earlier display, they knew he wasn’t the kind of person to casually annoy. Baya was currently roasting some meat, and like the night before, it was a wild rabbit.

When Baya got done with the meat, he gave some to Willard who casually ate. Baya looked towards Ahmed and was met with more hostility. Clearly, Ahmed still held some animosity towards Baya. Baya knew just because Willard had brought him along did not mean he had forgotten the death of his younger brother. Baya did not feel annoyed or bothered after all Ahmed was a bandit to his core. The preservation of his life was the most import thing to him. Baya looked towards Lydia and her group noticing how quiet they were. He walked towards Lydia and her group and gave them some of the wild rabbits he had roasted.

“Thank you!” Lydia said receiving the food. “Why don’t you eat with us?” She asked with a longing look in her eyes. Baya nodded and sat within their encirclement. Seeing how things were playing out the rest of Lydia’s group loosened up a bit and began to converse with Baya. Baya himself did not talk much, he just listened to the conversation. The old man was the loudest and most conversational. He led the vast majority of the conversation. Baya did not mind the atmosphere, he actually enjoyed it a bit. This was a vast difference from the usual weird things Willard randomly spewed.

Over at Willard’s corner, his eyes were closed as he meditated. Willard entered the strange red energy space within his subconscious. He watched the process of the red cloud gathering and gradually condensing into drops of red fluid like substance. Willard stretched his hand to touch the drop of red fluid that floated in his subconscious. The moment his finger made contact with the fluid, the ring on his finger in the real world glowed brightly. Willard could sense the boundless natural and elemental energy that filled him. “This substance is quite strange. Only when I channel it through a medium before it reacts.” Willard thought before moving his finger away from it.

“Whats even more strange is the ring father gave me. It’s almost as if everything was planned.”

“Well, it doesn’t matter. When I’m strong enough I’ll know the truth behind all this. Whoever thinks they can control my destiny would be disappointed.” Willard said with a bright gleam in his eyes.

After Willard came out of the coma, he had realized some things were rather strange about his path so far. It was almost as if someone had been pulling some strings behind his back since he had been reincarnated to this world. Willard knew trying to solve that mystery will be an effort in futility. The only path left for him was to increase his strength.

After spending some time with Lydia and her group, Baya walked back towards Willard. When Baya got close to him, he sat down and looked at Willard. Willard opened his eyes and smile in a mischievous manner. “What is it?” He directly asked Baya.

“Why did you bring that one with us?” Baya asked as he glanced at Ahmed for a second.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Willard responded before slightly pausing. “Well, it shouldn’t matter. You have been stuck at the 10th level of natural energy for quite some time now. This should be the perfect opportunity for you get past your bottleneck.” He finished before shutting his eyes closed again.

Baya silently thought about what Willard had told him. Although he did not fully understand it, he knew there was some truth to what Willard had said. What he couldn’t understand was how Ahmed was supposed to help him break through his bottleneck. He was currently in the state where one needed inspiration and natural resonance to an element. Baya had an inclination to what element e had the best resonance to, but still had no idea on how to get to the next step.
