I spent most of today playing X4 again, aside from attending an employment meeting.
I did a whole bunch of the real time research system upgrades so I could really kit out my personal craft and a large ship for roleplaying the next story.

Sadly, at least so far, that roleplay hasn’t entirely paid off.
The story is designed to function even if you’re the most basic of basic new players… which means my fully decked out exploration fleet is being treated like an errand tool.
Well, it has put me in a unique position to utterly dominate their economy though, it’s in utter shambles right now, given that I didn’t start this story for literal days of playtime the game must create the new sectors on the spot when you pass through, or the map is designed in such a way that they can’t access some major resources and have to downscale their economy to oblivion even if you let them operate on their devices.

It is now my sovereign duty to assist my beloved favourites, the Boron Queendom!

To take a page out of Robinxen’s book, here’s some ramblings that are not really related to the webnovel:

I’ve been thinking of getting a J-Novel Club account, since you get access to prepub versions of all these series for pretty cheap. Problem is, I really want to read them on my tablet, and the thing is old enough that neither the browser version nor the app run stable (plus there’s the whole “can only read while online” can of worms).

So, I’ve been looking if there’s a way to get them as Epubs instead, for which there apparently is something called jncep on GitHub, but I can’t get the damn thing to work for the life of me. None of the commands listed there seem to work, and I feel like it requires some basic understanding of Python which I’m obviously lacking.

I tried making my own mod for X4 and it broke something.
The hurdle for modding in X4 is just a little bit higher than Stellaris…
I can make some basic stuff though, although part of what I was trying to mod was probably something extreme anyway so, no harm there… I think.
I wanted to make one of the factions recruitable en mass as npcs, instead of as individuals, but the way to do that requires fenangling and I think I broke it.

That moment when you have translated 10 chapters ahead, but still have to go back to proofread and revise old chapters in case of errors regardless of whether you want to continue reading or not…

I remembered the feeling when I was translating this last year (November according to the last edited date on my txt). I was trying to translate it as fast as possible, so I translated very intensely and attentively (so I won’t need to redo it later on). The fighting scene was also very descriptive. You can just imagine the actions that the author intended us to imagine, so I also tried my hardest not to ruin it. The result, I believe was worth it, I reread a few of the sentences a few times in order to comprehend it back then, and so rereading it somewhat still remind me of back then, haha.

Anyway, happy reading!
Edit: I don’t know why, but this chapter was as exhausting as it was back then, which was very exhausting. I even had to proofread this chapter twice, when I usually only do this once. Maybe the nuances are more important than ever before this time…
