Oh right, I promised the next chapter of Chitanda before this one. That one has been proofread, but there’s a thing I worry about with that chapter, so you get to read this first.
That’s all update from me now, happy reading! The next update should be… sometime later.

When this is posted (or the day before, to be precise) it’s been a year since I started translating this web-novel. Before I knew it, it’s been 250 new chapters (plus several side stories) and 79 retranslated ones.
I started translating with two goals: 1. Provide a translation that is as true to the original as possible, 2. Make it enjoyable to read. I feel like I moved away somewhat from the first goal to improve the second, so I’m not sure if it got better or worse over that year.
I think my grasp on the language improved, though not nearly as much as I’d have liked it to. I still find myself using DeepL frequently as a second opinion on sentences that feel weird/wrong, and, embarrassingly enough, it still makes me realize errors in my own version often enough.
I feel comfortable with the current six chapters per week, so I’ll likely keep it that way. Although I’m still planning to translate the two light novels the series got before it was apparently axed, so I might run this in parallel at some point.

Also… the hype deflated super quickly… like really fast… that final phase was just… yeah.

Oh well. I will just continue to ignore it in mild irritation for all eternity… or at least until this fad ends.

I understand schedules and stuff, but I really feel doing a major story event right after a screwed up major story event was a bad move. A really bad one.

Well, you could tell the event was written in a rush to bridge a gap on CN after the game ran into drama and went through rewrites.
It’s a pivot point for course correction rather than a properly structured story event.

Which is a shame, because it’s such a cool medium.

I guess, by unfortunate luck, we were a bunch of players doing it blind together and I just did not having the capacity to learn all those mechanics.
I will try again tomorrow most likely.
