Today I learned there is a seething hatred for the canon version of the Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 protagonist…
I don’t really get why, one argument I saw was the really bad novels which, fair I get. But you can consider those non-canon anyway.
The name is meant to just be the stand in so the character can be referenced in main lore.
I don’t really understand the hatred specifically for it…
Well I can also understand people wanting their adventure to have been reflected…
Like if BG3 was to be added to the main canon it’d be probably be with the character of “Tav” and the different epilogues vary wildly… so I would be curious as to what they ran with…
We’re getting more interludes! More POV this time.
I wonder how this one goes…
Especially when you consider the last few.
Stories with lots of POV chapters like this are always interesting to me because I love seeing the reactions to protagonist moments from other angles.
Arifureta was unironically really good for that, sometimes I wished that it didn’t abridge them so much but I always liked when other characters described past events from their view.
Sakura is about to get a tour of the castle from Kyrian, who apparently can’t wait to learn everything about her and Kanata’s romance. I wonder how that’ll turn out.
I almost turned off my PC with this window tabbed and without scheduling the post.
Now that would have been a disaster!
Original pre-chapter ramble here:
My artist friend is doing an commission for me on the side and I left most of the details up to them…
But uh, somehow they started combining bits of maid attire with a classroom teacher scenario but using the scifi plugsuit as a base?
It’s very… well it’s certainly a thing of all time…
I’m wondering where this will end up now.
My project to work on modding Baldur’s Gate 3 continues apace…
Today I finished putting together a rapier weapon with so many gimmicks stacked atop it that it became unreal… but still…
It now effectively functions as a red mage from Final Fantasy!
It has two major gimmicks, the first is that upon casting a spell you can also immediately cast a second spell for free from an adjusted selection.
Basically four spells that cover a few different damage types, plus a weak healing spell and the all important rez mage skill!
It’s a tiny bit unbalanced but I didn’t go overboard so that challenge is preserved even when having fun.
The second gimmick is much simpler, it has a physical weapon attack that if it lands activates a second skill you can use, which if it lands let you use a third skill…
Basically it’s a combo… it’s a combo skill. In theory it will let you do more damage than a normal attack but the tradeoff is that there’s a risk it might do less.
Now that Sakura learned the terrible truth about what she had been wearing on her first day in Anazumu, will she still be able to enjoy her first look at the world after regaining her vision?
I have spent 31 hours playing Badlur’s Gate 3.
And 35 hours modding Baldur’s Gate 3.
Do you see my problem?
I have spent more time staring at spreadsheets of in-game stats than actually playing the game!!!
I haven’t finished Act 1 even! Barely even half finished that!
But I’ve already made effectively two original subclasses by recreating the old style Cavalier to the best of my abilities and created a weapon that emulates Final Fantasy XIV’s Red Mage gameplay for Cleric-Warlock multiclass characters.
