It feels like it’s been eons since I started work on this novel.
In fact it’s been almost three years, seriously that’s a scary number to think about isn’t it?
We’ve gone through a lot together, you readers and I.
Mostly a myriad of translators.
You should all be thankful for my consistency.
And if you think about I’ve only missed like… four uploads in that time?
Okay well, a few more than that were late.
I think that’s a win though.
Anyway, let’s look forward to like… at least a thousand more chapters together.
Chinese web authors are different breed of writer I swear.
The hardest part of managing commissions is when the batch is nearing completion and you need to start planning the next.
For budget reasons I like planning ahead, but the downside of that is I always miss my chance for spontaneous commission openings.
But if I keep money in reserve for spontaneous commission openings it means betraying the artists I regularly support.
Woe is the life of a commissioner.
Actually I need to contact an artist about some art I want done in the future.
I guess it’ll be easier to ask them about the price now rather than later.
Tonight is an eclipse night.
Sadly for me the eclipse is at about 5am, and I need to wake up at 7am, so no chance for me to see it.
I’d sacrifice seeing it properly to see it earlier, since it roughly starts around 2am.
But it’s almost 1am now and it’s raining.
Typical Britain, can’t have anything nice here.
Well that’s life, anyway let’s get to the chapter, we left off on a massive cliffhanger didn’t we last week.
So I mentioned a new art commission last ramble, time to elaborate on that!
This brings the total number of commissions I’ve made this month up to 6, with a total of 8 expected to be delivered in the next month.
That’s a lot of money.
In fact about 1300 dollars worth! Yes it’s a lot.
One of those commissions was actually made months ago, but the world situation is a bit of a mess for that artist so I can’t fault them.
And one piece I’m expecting to be delivered this month isn’t technically a commission but more of an extra birthday gift from an artist I regularly work with.
It’s going to be an absolutely packed month for art deliveries that’s for sure, one commission has been received, but the other 7 are mostly mysteries.
So last night I made the final (final) commission as part of my birthday month art commission.
I got a popular Xenoblade fanartist to draw my character Eleanor in a Xenoblade style.
The original intention was to get an Eva style plugsuit, but I changed to general scifi and Xenoblade after observing their art.
It’s not too different either way, they both have that technological feel.
I’m sure she can pilot a mech either way.
I’m looking forward to the first sketch in about a week.
Apparently in non-UK parts of the world it is Mother’s Day as I prepare to post this.
Obviously it’ll be long over by the time this goes live.
I found that funny because the MILF was introduced in Otome Mob’s anime today.
I’m actually editing this a few hours earlier than I usually do.
I’m looking forward to an early night honestly.
I did a lot of random household stuff today earlier than usual, and I have fresh bedsheets.
Those are always nice.
Well basically, I’m just trying to make sure I have every comfort possible for going back to work tomorrow after my first negative feedback session.
Starting work is hard honestly. If I didn’t need the money for my hobby I really wish I didn’t have to.
For some reason recently Rimworld has been trending.
Rimworld is a game I’d probably enjoy in concept but not have much fun playing.
The problem I have games with infinite freedom like that is I quickly find infinite ways to screw up.
That, or I end up skipping parts and then get bored because they’re more about the journey than the destination.
The final art commission for my birthday is set in stone now.
Now it’s just a case of waiting for artists to send proof sketches and send payments.
Or just send payments for the ones I’ve worked with before.
I’m really looking forward to all the ones I’ve got planned for May.
And a couple of artists have expressed interest in ideas I have lined up for next month too, excited to see how they go when the time comes.
Anyway, here is Chapter 101 of Volume 5!
Fun fact: I used to use 101 as the generic number of choice on the end of usernames when they were taken.
So today I learned that The Last Summoner has got animated.
I read the comic a bit some years ago I think, but I ended up forgetting about it and it seems the updates stopped not long after anyway.
I’m not sure how far I read, I think I remember them planning to siege a mansion or something?
Anyway, really excited to see more stuff getting animated from China! I hope their industry can take off.
I just found out I have the day off work tomorrow, well today from your perspective.
Well it’s not quite a day off work, but I can work from home.
And since all I have to do is really easily completed it will save me so much time.
I basically only need to do similar to what I do here.
Anyway, make sure to check out Automata Maid! The new novel project here that I am in charge of rambling on.
I mean posting.
Well, in other news it seems that I am now in charge of Automata Maid.
Looks like they will be two chapters a week, just after Re:START.
That bumps up my weekly posts to eight…
Hmmm I best start seriously thinking of some things to ramble about.
What is Automata Maid about?
I have no idea!
I should probably read the first chapter that is already out.
Actually you all should too, let’s go on this journey together.
Continuing the topic of birthday things from my previous post…
Or was that another post.
You know honestly I lose track of what goes where these days.
I got two updates from artists today!
One of them has just started the sketch process, but they’re going to be doing a lot of redesign sketches for the commission they’re working on. Since they’re trying to collate all my existing art into a single purpose reference sheet for the character, going to be time consuming.
And another just took payment and has started work on the project, I don’t have the first draft sketch yet since they just started, but I am excited to see what they come up with in the next few days. They hope to finish before my birthday too, so let’s see how things go.
The next time I ramble it will be May.
I can already bet that the first ramble I will make is about how my birthday is in May.
Or maybe it will be about the upcoming Stellaris DLC?
Hmmm I can’t actually tell now.
Maybe one of the artists will have contacted me next week about the work they are starting on too…
I might end up rambling on that.
Place your bets below!
So this week I will get my first payment from my job.
I have no idea why I feel this is newsworthy.
I guess I’m really stuck for ideas for my pre-chapter rambles these days.
I could talk about all the manga I am reading perhaps?
Well whatever, I think this enough for this one.
