So in this pre-chapter ramble for Re:Start I discussed maybe starting Arknights.
Well anyway, today I went through the effort of redownloading that emulator and dragging myself through the bios settings again because I upgraded my motherboard some months ago.
Did all the usual jazz.
And installed it.
The game is…
How to put it.
The story is serviceable, there are some weird holes in the lore of the world that are baffling but that is expected of anachronistic settings.
The gameplay however is a bit, it feels uneven.
Some levels feel really trivial and then others are like:
“Aha we lulled you into a false sense of security and now we’re going to screw you over unless you take time to level up even more characters.”
I’m going to keep going and hope that I just get into the swing of things, but when I know I’m having an off time with the tutorial content I don’t have much hope for the late game balance honestly.
It didn’t help that my first happy gacha moment was ruined by it being a dude. I got cockblocked.

Also I think I made a brain smush typo earlier on where I accidentally used Volume instead of Series when talking about how we were barely half way through.
I only realised that because we started a new volume and I remembered thinking I said we didn’t start a new one for a while.
Guess I was thinking faster than I can type.

I have become a hardcore Stellaris addict as of late.
I’ve been downloading, changing, swapping, uninstalling and redownloading mods by the dozen.
All just so I can prepare for a roleplay stream playthrough.
The idea is to do a stream where I play through every decision in the nature of not only the empire but the ruler as well.
And I’ll probably set up the empire to be a democracy, so that chat can be members of the parliament to vote on crucial matters of import.
I think it will be fun, but I want to give the playthrough lots of flavour, so the mods are critical.

I got a WIP back today.
It’s the final WIP for this piece, the next time I get an email it’ll be completed.
They had actually intended to get it done for this weekend but I asked them to take their time with it, and they did.
Honestly artists really need to stop pushing themselves to finish asap.
They streamed some game time so I was really glad they weren’t forcing themselves.
In exchange they went the extra mile with some details.
