I accidentally left his page open for two hours instead of hitting schedule.
So I decided to delete the original pre-chapter ramble to talk about how dangerous that was!
Man I could have closed the window or turned off my PC entirely and this chapter would never have got a post saying it was live.
The chapter itself would still be live!
But NovelUpdates would never know…
What a terrifying thought.
A friend of mine recently has got into this strange online magical girl novel.
They seem to be quite enjoying it given how often they inform me of the plot.
I was a bit upset that a couple of my favourite tropes were entirely absent though.
Which sort of magical girl franchise doesn’t have any time travel in it these days?
Terrible.
Or at least some world hopping!
I ended up accidentally doing a lot of work on my Stellaris mod today, even though there wasn’t much to do.
I ended up sucked into a rabbit hole of wiki pages and lore and videos, trying to get the flavour of a piece of tech down.
And then after that I decided to revisit my idea list and see if anything really stood out.
Well nothing small did, just some long term projects I might do.
At the very least I did get the ARGO System tech implemented, so now everyone can do the asteroid ring defence trick!
It was actually a fun one to concept, an alternative armour method, I had a few ideas on how to do it, such as having the game check if the system you were in had asteroids before applying the bonus, but in the end I decided to go simple and just have it give a flat bonus to armour and a partial bonus to armour regen.
So the new Star Trek Picard trailer showcased the Enterprise F, and that guy who won the Design The Next Enterprise competition for Star Trek Online in 2011 must be over the moon because they decided to canonise the Odyssey Class from that.
Imagine not only only winning a competition get your design included as both the flagship and playable vessel in the online game, but also ten years later having it showcased on television.
I do have to say that I was quite mad at one of the news articles that was very dismissive of the entire thing, it seemed like they were trying to be neutral but they kept adding in snide comments like “call me crazy but the E looks better” and “they didn’t even design a new class” with “it came from an old video game” before going to compare the ship lengths like somehow the 400m extra the F has somehow invalidates it.
My final pay from work is long overdue now.
I messaged them today and apparently it got stuck in tax evaluation, not sure why.
But whatever the case at least it is processing.
I will be able to make more art commissions!
Cough.
I won’t have to starve!
It is my mother’s birthday today.
Honestly I have forgotten her age.
I suppose I could extrapolate it since I know how old she was when she gave birth to me
So I could just add that number to my age and get a rough approximation of her age.
There is just one slight problem though.
I got her a card but didn’t know what to get her as a present at all…
So I kinda never got one.
My Stellaris mod breached 800 active users!
Well it’s still a far far cry from my most download Skyrim mod which reached 800 users in just six days.
Last time I checked it, there were 3000 users I think?
And a total of 10,000+ downloaders.
Well given that I made that mod ten years ago and barely understood what I was doing beyond throwing numbers together I think that’s impressive honestly.
Though I definitely could do with a better user retention rate.
I’m quite comfortable with my Stellaris mods popularity as is though, no pressure or anything and its my own whims anyway.
Though I do wish that my extra content mod for my mod had better reviews. It has a three star rating! That makes it look terrible!
But it only has two negative reviews! The weighting is totally not fair!
Did you guys know that you can read a whopping 100 chapters ahead on the patreon?
That’s an insane amount reading ahead.
For my part I actually only do the editing shortly before uploads to keep my impressions fresh and matching your guys reader experiences.
Yeah in fact, if you read on the patreon you can get ahead and spoil me, the editor.
Wild isn’t it?
Anyway I just felt like saying that since we reached that milestone.
I made a lot of progress on writing lore and preparing the empires for my potential Stellaris roleplay game.
I have an empire using the new Toxoid theming, I’ve based them on a more extreme version of the Boron from the X series.
Ammonia breathing aliens that require extremely specialised atmospheres or equipment.
I also struggled quite a bit with creating a more unique race that wasn’t cliched.
In the end I went for an empire that is based on Star Trek’s United Federation of Planets, but if they had been founded by an alien nation without humans.
Also I made them the inheritors of some ancient technology which they hope to emulate one day.
I have to hope that I get my final payment from work in the next couple of days.
Going to be super awkward if I have to contact them about it, especially since I don’t know how to approach the matter.
Well I remember his talk at the start where he went on a tangent about employers trying to skip out on paying after workers leave.
So since he brought it up I know he won’t…
But I also wouldn’t put it past him to test whether we chase him up on it too just to see if what he said sunk in…
Amazon have been messing up a lot for me lately.
They still haven’t got a copy of the Arpeggio manga volume I preordered like a year ago now, after another month of delays.
They lost(?) my phone case I ordered a month ago and should have arrived a week ago, I will get a refund totally hopefully.
And now they have delayed my delivery of Magical Explorer to next month.
What is this? I had less problems during the global lockdown than I have had with them these few weeks.
With the release of the Stellaris Toxoids DLC I’ve decided to revisit the idea I had for a streamed roleplay playthrough.
Currently the idea is to do a playthrough of humanity (so original) but using the Relentless Industrialists feature, which allows you to pollute your planet for increased resource production.
A version of future history where we never correct our destructive ways and drive ourselves to ecological ruin, forcing us to spread among the stars to survive.
I kind of like the idea of Earth being reduced to a barely habitable, if at all habitable tomb world, and then dealing with the repercussions of that as humanity moves offworld for survival.
And if life does survive it will be very interesting debate on if Earth should continue to remain the capital planet of the empire.
Humans of the internet.
Use your psychic powers to remind me to wake up early tomorrow.
I have an important delivery and nobody will be home to accept it but me.
I have to send off a copy of my CV after this.
I really need to update it to actually look nice but to do that I’d need an updated copy of microsoft word.
And like hell I am going to pay for their new versions with the weird subscriptions and tiers they have.
I miss the days of being able to just buy a piece of software.
The world has improved in many errors but this isn’t one.
Recently the J-Novel Club discord added an out-of-context channel.
And some of the light novel/manga/anime content in it is a goldmine for comedy.
I think it might be my new favourite channel to drop in for things that aren’t memes to send to people randomly.
