I finally started reading Otome Mob Volume 12 after it arrived last week.
It’s kind of wild to think that Volume 13 will be the last one, it’s been so many years since I started reading this…
Actually considering the release rate it’s kind of impressive that they got this far in the time they did too though…
I think it was only five years ago the first volume got translated? The release rate was quite fast at first, then it ground to a halt in the later volumes.
They could have been done maybe a year or two earlier if they kept the initial rate going.
I have been progressing through the latest event story for Neural Cloud.
The scale is… extreme…
It’s going full scifi space opera with its content and it feels out of place when placed next to the other chapters of the game.
I could understand the earlier ones, like the one that was simulating the construction of a futuristic power generator that defied physics, or the one that was simulating an entire aquatic ecosystem for analysis and so forth, but the one that’s simulating an entire solar system? Sure it sounds fine on paper… until it goes as far as simulating things like space battleships and a ringworld with orbital elevators and everything else.
It’s just a completely different sense of scale, it means that if you applied the technology and resources in this one simulation alone to the other chapters in the game you could steamroll them!
So today Amazon finally officially cancelled my order for Arpeggio of Blue Steels next volume.
I made the order in 2021, and Seven Seas just kept delaying its release forever and ever…
I think they have just unofficially axed the translation now, I am a bit gutted, I have been supporting this manga for years.
Oh well, you win some you lose some, at least it’s not a fresh memory and I half expected this fate after all the delays.
In other news the Stellaris board game is finally reaching the stretch to actual release…
I backed it years ago too…
I went on a traversal to the dentist today.
I learned two things.
The first is that my teeth are well cleaned.
The second is that I still have a cavity forming.
Hmmm…
I wonder if perhaps my copious intake of carbonated beverages is perhaps bad for my teeth?
I spent most of today playing X4 again, aside from attending an employment meeting.
I did a whole bunch of the real time research system upgrades so I could really kit out my personal craft and a large ship for roleplaying the next story.
Sadly, at least so far, that roleplay hasn’t entirely paid off.
The story is designed to function even if you’re the most basic of basic new players… which means my fully decked out exploration fleet is being treated like an errand tool.
Well, it has put me in a unique position to utterly dominate their economy though, it’s in utter shambles right now, given that I didn’t start this story for literal days of playtime the game must create the new sectors on the spot when you pass through, or the map is designed in such a way that they can’t access some major resources and have to downscale their economy to oblivion even if you let them operate on their devices.
It is now my sovereign duty to assist my beloved favourites, the Boron Queendom!
I tried making my own mod for X4 and it broke something.
The hurdle for modding in X4 is just a little bit higher than Stellaris…
I can make some basic stuff though, although part of what I was trying to mod was probably something extreme anyway so, no harm there… I think.
I wanted to make one of the factions recruitable en mass as npcs, instead of as individuals, but the way to do that requires fenangling and I think I broke it.
Through the power of sacrificing some hows of sleep…
I have made my first original mod for X4…
I have no idea if it will work, I want to sleep more than I want to test it.
Because if it is broken then I will break trying to fix it while sleep deprived.
Do you ever just get random moments of realisation completely unrelated to the task you are doing?
Well I just had one.
Here I was, typing away, doing my editing… and my brain just went “We need to shave soon” followed by me automatically doing the anime beard stroke to confirm this statement.
I do indeed appear to be needing to shave soon, or else I will look one of those neet middle age anime protagonists… sadly I am not a protagonist.
We enter the era of side story stuff now, I’m not sure where these are placed.
I will see if there’s any author or translation notes… I wonder if I should place them chronologically in the index or not?
Did this novel always have menu status descriptions for items?
I can’t remember.
My migraine might be half of that, but honestly menu status appraisal is so generically common now it’s hard to remember it distinctively.
Speaking of which, I’ve been reading that Academy Survival some more lately, but not much more, and not now… because aforementioned migraine…

I tried to make an entirely original mod for X4 today.
A simple one… or so I thought. I just wanted to edit some tags so that it would enable the player to build something that has the appearance of one of the NPC structures…
That uh, didn’t seem to work as intended?
There must be some hidden step that I am missing because although I can unlock the items on my character I can’t seem to get them to show up in the build menu for actual placement, and even when cross referencing other mods I can’t find any hints as to what I am overlooking. I really do wonder what it is… Eugh the only place for help is the official forums but I’m really really not a forum person, they always seem to be designed to hate the user as much as possible somehow. I guess the discord exists but… socialising… sigh.
My bad habits came back to bite me.
I started making my own mod for X4 after learning that the Xenon Special Equipment research only unlocks the ability to build their weapons and not the ability to build their ships.
It’s 1am and I am dying of heat yet here I am learning an entire new set of script syntax.
“Use threshold”. What is this? What does it do? Is 0 good or bad? Is 1 the highest? What happens if I make it 2? Why are some 0.6 and some 0.7?
If my game crashes and burns around me I only have myself to blame.
But I want to build a shiny Xenon fleet! Industry and domination shall prevail!
