October arrives…
That means I should really be choosing what to do for my Halloween artwork commission for the season again…
But uh. I have other things I want too.
Not to mention it’s my mother’s birthday soon and I forgot that it was even a thing until I realised October was coming…
Oh! And I am going to comicon at the end of the month and still haven’t chosen what I want to cosplay as!
Haha… I am so screwed!
My X (formerly known as Twitter) app is in shambles.
The DMs lock up and freeze every time I try to open certain conversations, it’s becoming really hard to coordinate with some artists on there now.
I have to use the browser version to carry on conversation.
It didn’t used to do this, is it based on the new android update?
Did they screw up some backend on the site?
I would like it fixed please…
Out of interest today I put myself to work using ChatGPT to generate some scifi stories.
Nothing major, I basically just plugged in brief descriptions of key plot moments from games to see what it would come up with.
It did a surprisingly good job at creating compelling narratives from the X Series of games to be fair.
I wonder if it’s because of the overall historical approach to how it handles the lore events works well with the generation system?
I tried some halo inspired ones but they went in wild directions compared to what I imagined…
An American my friend knows has started binge watching Doctor Who from 2005 onwards.
So far they haven’t overly reacted to anything specifically British, but they’ve had some fun with it.
They’ve reached the first regeneration Christmas special apparently.
There was a good laugh about our memories of the spinning Christmas tree of death, interesting what sticks in your mind isn’t it?
Actually my first episode of Doctor Who was after that, I had to go back and watch it later on after I was already a fan for a bit.
I spent most of today busy, which is unique for me.
And I don’t mean that I am normally doing nothing, I just mean what I am usually doing is for my own enjoyment so I don’t consider that as busy.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to start the new full release of Satisfactory though, I wanted to start today… but got delayed.
I’m moving on from X4 temporarily to avoid burnout but I will probably just forget the game exists anyway now…
I spent most of my day putting roleplay character sheets together.
Oh and I guess I had one of my regular work meetings…
I actually have another one on Thursday too… this time in person.
I really hate travelling over there but oh well, can’t be helped, my income depends on it.
Such is the way of adulthood in modern society.
My friend randomly sent me The Lazer Collection today…
That was… well nostalgic.
Crazy to think that those are almost two decades old now…
Ah, they’re literally becoming retro memes. The internet was a different place back then.
I remember all the windows movie maker tributes that were just slideshows and music…
Also all of the narrative lets play things but the story was just poorly spaced text that appeared on the screen as speech!
So I finally reached 300 hours in X4.
Given that I played like 200 hours during my first hyperfixation when I got the game four years ago I guess that means I have about 100 hours left to go before I move on this time…
In other news my summer themed commission of my original character is done!
You can go find it at the account of the talented Maru Selinn.
Actually given the content it might be on the side account, if you know what I mean…
Well, I am sure you can find it if you’re interested enough-.
A bunch of people who worked in Blue Archive have ran off to try and make their own project…
And it’s basically “What if we made Blue Archive but made it about swords?”
That said, it’s one of those artist multimedia project type things, so it could be a total disaster.
Last time I saw a multimedia project was Qualidea Code and that SUCKED!
Also this reminds me entirely of how the Arknights team were all people that worked on Girls Frontline and Neural Cloud at Mica before they made Hypergryph and basically stole all the effort.
It’s Chapter One Thousand One Hundred and Eleven! Hmm, doesn’t sound as impressive in writing…
Maybe if you phrase it “One Thousand One Hundred One Ten and One”? That sounds like something a German would say…
Anyway, my entertainment for today was live updates on my friend having to renew their passport.
Including things like getting up late, the bus not being on time, having to go back home for a document, having to get an expensive taxi, getting directed to the wrong building, getting directed to the wrong floor of the right building, then getting delayed by an emergency meeting…
It was a very amusing series of events where everything that could go wrong at some point did go wrong.
I woke up today to a bunch of guests in the house already, that was quite an experience.
And then they stole my ketchup!
Okay well, not stole, and it wasn’t mine.
But when I was making dinner I suddenly realised the tomato ketchup was gone… they had taken it down the end of the garden for their outside eating.
I had to go and rescue it from their clutches.
As you can tell, I am rather bored right now and trying to dramatise a mundane event for fun.
I spent most of today playing X4 again, aside from attending an employment meeting.
I did a whole bunch of the real time research system upgrades so I could really kit out my personal craft and a large ship for roleplaying the next story.
Sadly, at least so far, that roleplay hasn’t entirely paid off.
The story is designed to function even if you’re the most basic of basic new players… which means my fully decked out exploration fleet is being treated like an errand tool.
Well, it has put me in a unique position to utterly dominate their economy though, it’s in utter shambles right now, given that I didn’t start this story for literal days of playtime the game must create the new sectors on the spot when you pass through, or the map is designed in such a way that they can’t access some major resources and have to downscale their economy to oblivion even if you let them operate on their devices.
It is now my sovereign duty to assist my beloved favourites, the Boron Queendom!
I tried making my own mod for X4 and it broke something.
The hurdle for modding in X4 is just a little bit higher than Stellaris…
I can make some basic stuff though, although part of what I was trying to mod was probably something extreme anyway so, no harm there… I think.
I wanted to make one of the factions recruitable en mass as npcs, instead of as individuals, but the way to do that requires fenangling and I think I broke it.
My bad habits came back to bite me.
I started making my own mod for X4 after learning that the Xenon Special Equipment research only unlocks the ability to build their weapons and not the ability to build their ships.
It’s 1am and I am dying of heat yet here I am learning an entire new set of script syntax.
“Use threshold”. What is this? What does it do? Is 0 good or bad? Is 1 the highest? What happens if I make it 2? Why are some 0.6 and some 0.7?
If my game crashes and burns around me I only have myself to blame.
But I want to build a shiny Xenon fleet! Industry and domination shall prevail!
I just…
Spent the day making a mod…
I never expected the day to come, but yeah, I’m a modder again now.
Actually it was just an x4 mod, and surprisingly my experience modding stellaris came in handy!
It used a very similar structure, despite being a very different game and engine.
I guess it’s just one of those convergent design things where it comes to games?
I haven’t touched an actual triple a game for modding so I wouldn’t know for those…
