I have an interesting debate here for you all. What do you all think of the terms “trap”? To me, it’s simply a slang term used in the anime/manga community to refer to Otokonoko characters, along with other especially effeminate men. But in a different community, the trans community, so to say, it is a derogatory term to them. The moment I brought it up, I unintentionally triggered a war between the two factions.
One side argued that it is some bs that reddit mods came up with long, long, long after the term came into use and that they couldn’t find anything that connects between trap and trans. They explained that the (anime/manga) community that uses this term does not use it to refer to trans people in the first place, but rather to refer explicitly to men that look like women
While the other side argued that the trans people do not like that term as it is used against them as a slur and continued to escalate why it’s offensive is because it has the obvious implication that a trap is tricking you. They go on to say that they have seen people use it in a derogatory sense. That they have seen people hurt by it, and how they understand why people don’t like it. Then they concluded by telling us to avoid the term to make someone’s life a little better.
What’s your take on it? By right, we are the anime/manga community, and we use the terms casually enough without any of the derogatory implications attached to it, but should we be avoiding the terms just to assuage the trans community?

So… I just got a Mesh WiFi router today and funnily, as soon as I finish setting up the router and the node, I was hit with a power blackout for a few hours. After the electricity is back and we switched the router back on, it was blinking red and isn’t working. I panicked for a bit but good thing it started working again after a few more restart…
It’s great that we are able to cover up the dead spots with the Mesh router but I feel that the interface could probably use some improvement, the QoS settings especially, is a bit buggy.

I hate Chinese. I’ve never hated Chinese as much as I did today! The word 精灵 in Chinese can be used for spirit / fairy / elf / sprite / genie. It is more commonly used for elves, but in the previous chapters, there was a palm-sized 精灵, so that one is obviously a fairy, it should be right? Or well, y’know, maybe it could be a spirit instead of a fairy! And in this chapter, it’s human-sized! Is it an elf? Is it a fairy? It has pointy ears so it should be an elf right? But wait, fairy can also have pointy ears, and I hear fairy queen are generally human-sized too according to common trope, so what is it!? Why is Chinese so difficult!! Arrgghhhhh!
Ok rant’s over. As an aside, there’s only 3 more chapters left until volume 1 is over so with that in mind, that means My Loli Dude teaser will be ending soon. In the pre-chapter post next week, I will list some teasers I might be translating after this so lemme know by then if there’s any you find interesting.

So I tried playing Genshin, not impressed. There is my constitution that prevents me from playing 3D games for long hours due to getting nauseous from motion sickness, but my impression of the game itself is anything but impressive. To me, it’s just an open-world game with the disgusting element of gacha. It’s just like any other game where you eventually do the same repetitive tasks to grind for materials to ascend your characters and upgrade your equipment. Totally doesn’t live up to the hype. It only seems fun now because it’s the best shiny new things. People always loves their shiny new toys. The hype will die down eventually.
The thing that irks me the most is that there’s no character customization, no personification, and most of all, no fashion items.

To Genshin or not to Genshin… that’s the question. Genshin Impact has been real popular these days and it’s the talk all over the net, and I have no idea why. I wanted to try it but I’m scared to start playing games that’d take up much of my time. One of the main reason which I stopped playing games nowadays (mostly) is because I have limited amount of time a week and I don’t have much self-control, I’m afraid that if I start playing, I won’t have time to finish my work.
Then again, everyday after I finish my work, I just shut down my PC and lie on my bed, staring at my phone and doing nothing productive for the whole day. Should I play? Should I not play? Will I be able to control myself? Should I let the patrons of Re:Library suffer from lack of chapters due to my bad decision? More importantly, is the game really that fun?
