Alchemist Startover Chapter 80

New Chapter!
So our new internet got installed today!
It’s usually around eight times faster than it used to be! Which is great!

Or it would be if I could use it!
The house I live in was built like a hundred years ago so it obviously wasn’t built with internet in mind, there’s no proper internet cable that runs from the downstairs to the upstairs, and the one that does is from like the 1990’s… it can only handle about 50mbps… I am the only person upstairs who uses the cable so the amount of effort to change it is too much since it would mean tearing open walls…
So anyway, I have to think of a solution now. I also tried a powerline adapter but that only gained me about 10mbps more than the old cable.

I decided to finally finish the first season of Mashle so I could work through the second season.
It’s pretty good.
I’m not sure it’s as great as the impression everyone gave me when it started, but it’s been enjoyable.

I’m looking forward to seeing how it progresses at least, then I will move on to something else in my backlog.
It’s been a while since I watched anime properly like this… how nostalgic.

I got my artist friend to start work on redesigning my OC and they presented a scifi themed one and a fantasy themed one.
The scifi themed design was pure, pure, pure Phantasy Star vibes.
It was so on point for Phantasy Star I was shocked.

Naturally I chose it…
I mean… how couldn’t I?!
I love the magical tech aesthetic of Phantasy Star!

I will probably get a pure fantasy redesign done after… maybe…

I finally got round to playing the Talos DLC again, and managed to finish the second chapter of it.
That was a lot of fun, nice casual gameplay and rewarding to see the relaxed side of the main characters just having fun together too.

It was a really well done piece of epilogue content, as opposed to the first chapter which felt just oddly forced and out of place.
I’ll have to see how the third goes, because it’s the most lore heavy in context.

New Chapter!
At the behest of a friend I started watching the latest season of Misfit Demon Lord… and…
Wow the quality of the writing has dropped immensely.
I wonder if this arc worked way better in the novels, because in the anime it’s just… soooo much lore, and none of the characters get any breathing room.

There was a random episode all about training, which probably made sense in novel format for adjusting the power levels of characters and stuff, but it felt weirdly out of place and specific.
Well, basically it’s botched the adaptation I think.

The Steam summer sale has started!
So many discounts!
I think I can safely avoid spending this time though…
The games I want are nearing the end of their production cycle and will have their final big patches soon, so I will probably pick them up after that just to ensure compatibility and getting the maximum experience.

In the meantime I have games I bought ages ago to keep playing, and the Talos DLC that I am slowly working through due to being occupied with gachas…

New Chapter!
I finished the Steins;Gate and Neural Cloud crossover event.
It was great.

The story was basically the plot of Steins;Gate but lightened up (in terms of duration, it still had the heavy themes) ported over to the setting of Neural Cloud. They really did not shy away from going in dark directions with everything. Sadly due to being a collab they couldn’t make it integral to the main story of Neural Cloud, but they really pushed it as close as they could.
It’s a bit of a shame they didn’t include some more Steins;Gate 0 content though… Kurisu’s field of research is actually memory scanning and AI development, which is exactly the sort of content Neural Cloud is fundamentally based around! But that’s my only complaint.

I think it nailed being a crossover with “Steins;Gate” specifically, but as a crossover with Steins;Gate as a franchise it left out some parts and it left out everything from the Science Adventure Series as a whole.

The new Hololive girls debuts are soon.
I am looking forward to trying to figure out where Elizabeth is from in the UK.
I’ve seen an oddly high number of people hoping she’s southern specifically…

is there something about southern accents that are good?
I’m from the south so I don’t think I can understand that sentiment at all because everyone has that accent here…

I hate doing editing in the morning, because of the orientation of my room it points directly towards the sun…
So I get horrible screen glare.

You’d think closing my curtains would solve that.
But because of the angle of the sun what happens is I end up getting a thin strip of light directly through the middle of monitor…
Ah.
So annoying…

I saw a tweet about how 70% of Nijisanji’s viewership is female and how they make up the majority of its merch purchases.
I thought about it for a bit and figured yeah… the boyfriend experience stuff is their biggest seller.
And for some reason girls seem happier with cheap low effort merch.

I mean how many keychains and stickers is a guy going to be willing to fork out for?

A reality we must all face, is that men have higher standards for knicknacks.

So I don’t really play anymore but the Final Fantasy Secretlab gaming chair is frustratingly tempting…
It’s really really tempting, the only reason I haven’t got one so far is because my current chair still works and if I’m going to buy an expensive gaming chair I’d like one that I at least consider cool… and the Final Fantasy one is close enough to a game that I play and a story that I definitely enjoy that I might cave…

The previous closest was the Genshin one but… boy was that expensive…

I really need to purchase my brother some headphones or something…
Actually, he should really buy them himself!

But he never will, so I should get him some.
I do not want to listen to his gun gun bang bang shooty games at 4am in the morning, just because he has a wall mounted tv that backs on to the hollow echo chamber of a wall that separates our rooms.

New Chapter!
So the final episode of Star Trek Discovery aired.
Honestly, not been big on Discovery, the last couple of season were…. better?
This one was the best so far I think, I liked this season I just didn’t like the baggage of the first few that it came with, especially the first two seasons.

The ending was rushed, but that’s because the show certainly got axed and they had to retool the ending they had already shot.
The final scene felt a bit weird because of that for certain, it just, didn’t make all too much sense? They did their best to close loop the timeline of the show however.

Honestly, overall it wasn’t bad.
