Hi everyone, TearCRF here…
TLDR – I was depressed, had writers block, was busy with work, and outlined arc 2. I’m back and sorry about my hiatus.

So… I think the passing of my grandfather back in September hit me harder than I initially thought and it took quite a toll on me. So much so that it wasn’t just writing that I put on hold. I stopped talking with my friends and basically disappeared for four months with the only exception being that I still went to work.

As for my writers block, I KNOW that I don’t write well when going off script and I’m just free-writing, so back in September I altered chapter 17 a bit and had to add more onto the chapter. In doing so, it changed my outline and once I started looking at it, I knew that I needed to figure out arc 2 before I kept writing, but I just kept putting it off.

During November and December, work became really busy and I was working about twice my normal hours which after January hit I was able to relax a bit. I then started looking at the story again and I re-read everything that I already posted. I listed all my plot points and from there started properly outlining arc 2, which is completed except for the finale… (I feel like there should be another chapter before the finale but I’m drawing a blank as for what it should be)

With all of that said, I’m doing better now mentally and with arc 2 ready, I should be able to post weekly at least until May-ish. Hopefully, I will properly manage my work this time and figure out arc 3 before arc 2 ends so I can just continue posting weekly without any hiatus (however I am also considering taking a week or 2 break between arcs just to give myself some time to finalize the adjustments).

In other news, I also spent some time during the hiatus to start flirting with some of my other stories. I have 4 on the backburner but I don’t have enough ready to start writing any of them yet. I’m hoping that at some point this year, at least 1, possibly 2 of them I start working on in addition to continuing Fourteen Moons.

PS- I’m sure there’s something I forgot to put in the above blurb that I’ll put in chapter 18’s author notes.

After a four month hiatus, I’m overjoyed to say (type?)…

So I’m a few days late on getting this out. I’ve had a horrible sleep schedule, getting 2-3 hours of sleep every 10ish hours. So I’d sleep twice a day for a couple of hours. I was tired all the time and was having trouble focusing. Needless to say, writing was difficult. I will be posting chapter 16 tomorrow. » Prologue – For Your Sake «

A fairly hectic start to the week as my grandfather passed away on Tuesday, but aside from that, it’s been a good week.

This chapter I wanted to make it a bit more… warm? (not sure if that’s the word) and looking back at it now, that could be something I subconsciously did, or possibly just a coincidence. Either way, I hope everyone enjoyed Evetta and Faraine’s interactions today. I’d like to hear your thoughts on Faraine’s character up to know (likes, dislikes, etc.) (she’s much more vocal than I had planned, but I’m fine with that).

In other news, I’m thinking of adding in small interlude chapters that would be roughly 1k-2k words (like a mini-chapter) from side characters shortly after they are introduced. If  I do add them, there would be two that I’d like to add for sure. The first would take place between chapters 3 and 4 and it would be from Revus’ perspective for readers to get his thoughts on Evetta before she can fully communicate with him. The other would be Faraine’s and it would be between chapters 15 and 16, so following this chapter.

In other other news, I’m also thinking of changing the Prologue. I imagine most people won’t be a fan of the idea, but the prologue isn’t doing it’s job quite as effectively as I’d hoped it would when I first wrote it. I’d like to change it to the event surrounding Revus escaping from Kāālith as it would likely support the current material more at the moment. Evetta’s backstory (the current prologue) will still exist, but I’ll likely bring it back at a later point since the information isn’t as relevant to the overall story. Additionally, the readers will learn more about Evetta’s backstory through her nightmares, so personally, I think it allows for the readers to obtain more information overall.

A day later than I’d prefer, but I’m still trying to get back on my old schedule. Also had some unexpected incident happen to my grandfather… He caught himself on fire and went to the burn center… He’s doing about as okay as a burn victim can be. Aside from that, my week was fairly busy, hence being a bit late (I want to post on Fridays).

» Chapter 14 – Fears, Friends, and Family «

Hi everyone TearCRF here after an unexpected hiatus. First and foremost, I’m glad to be back. Second, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Third, I apologize for being gone for so long, it wasn’t planned. I was only expecting a week or two at most. Fourth, I don’t plan on going on hiatus again any time soon, so you should expect chapters regularly again. Finally, I hope everyone’s been doing well, and as always, stay safe, stay healthy, and sleeps for reading.

Below is my explanation of what’s been going on since I disappeared.

TLDR: One week I was gone for my trip to California. The week following, I had jet-lag and slept most of it. The four weeks after, I had writers block.

So, after my last post, I made a trip to pick up my mom and grandfather (he’s not doing well and wanted to be with my mom before he passes) from California. The trip there took about 48 hours, 8 of which I spent sleeping in my car. I got there, visited with some family and friends for about 12 hours, loaded my car with as much stuff my grandfather needed to bring, and brought the rest to his storage. I then made the return trip which took closer to 72 hours with more rest time, but a more uncomfortable drive (three people could barely sit in the car with the amount of stuff filled within). 

The week after I returned, I immediately had to return to work, and that combined with my overall lack of sleep, and jet-lag from the trip, I was mentally and physically drained.

Around the end of July/ early August I started to get back into writing, but I quickly realized a problem. I wanted to write but nothing seemed right. Chapter 13 was on my outline for the story, but it would’ve only been around 1k-2k words and even then, there wasn’t much happening so I had to figure out what direction I wanted to take the chapter.

Finally, after about 4 weeks, I got things figured out and was ready to post… but my editor wasn’t available for a couple of days. Had things gone as planned, this chapter would’ve been posted 2 days ago, and I barely managed to get him to edit it with me last night. With that though, the chapter came out better than I originally anticipated, even if there are still some spots that I feel could use some more work.

PS (in other news): I’ve been busy with work having to be there for almost double my usual time during the latter 4 weeks, I also started going to the gym again, and my birthday was yesterday.
