One of the things I like about the setting for Frieren is that the mages in it don’t sit about twiddling their thumbs when it comes to researching spells.
A spell that the 4 strongest people in the world were completely unable to defend against 80 years ago gets reduced to the level of generic attack magic after it’s researched, and countermeasures are developed and improved. There’s a sense of progress and development for magic instead of everyone just trying to reclaim past glory like you see in other settings.

The author literally wrote the book for the subgenre and everything you’ve read since has put a spin on it to be unique and build on what made IS popular in the first place!

It’s been a really long journey, and we’re still only part way through… how do Chinese authors keep this up? Well the majority don’t but…
No I won’t get into complaining about things while celebrating, bad Robinxen.
Anyway, I really wanted to do something fun for this milestone but with Christmas keeping me so busy and then me falling sick I didn’t have time to prepare something fitting.
We have however now very graciously reached the quadruple digit range of chapters, and I doubt we will be seeing any other digits added in this lifetime.
Do let me know if there is a proper web novel out there that managed to exceed 9999 chapters though.
