Happy New Year, everyone! How was your 2025? For Re:Library, it was… rough. Ad revenue sank to an all-time low, and to make matters worse, our payment processor got nuked in the final quarter of the year. Looking ahead, it is projected that ad revenues will continue to decline, making it painfully clear that ads are no longer a sustainable way to keep the site running. In anticipation of another difficult year, I’ve already cancelled our Cloudflare Pro plan.

But hey! Why let that stop us? Our goal for 2026 is to rebuild and rise back up. It’s literally in our name: “Re” stands for redo, rebuild, resurrect, and what have you! That’s literally what we’ll be doing.

Last November, we opened a Ko-fi page (https://ko-fi.com/relibrary) to rebuild our membership base, but some members weren’t too happy with Ko-fi since it only accepts PayPal. I needed to link Stripe to allow card payments, but Stripe doesn’t operate in my country, so I had to look for an alternative. The solution? Buy Me a Coffee. Yes, Buy Me a Coffee (BMC) is a separate platform from Ko-fi, and it allows card payments, so if you’d rather not check out with PayPal, BMC is another option you can choose. (Unfortunately, Buy Me a Coffee only do verification checks after the first payout request and has since deactivated our account.)

I initially used the goal tracker on the Ko-fi page itself, but I later realized it only tracked total donations rather than monthly subscriptions. As a result, it became inaccurate after the second month, once memberships started renewing. Because of that, I’m now tracking the goal manually.
