Is this the end for Re:Library?

I sure hope not! Apparently, a mass reporting of translator’s Patreon accounts have been going on for a while now. Many others, including Re:Library’s, have been affected. I’m sure everyone is just as confused when Re:Library’s Patreon pages suddenly disappeared.

This is a huge blow to us as we relied solely on the Patreon community to fund our projects. With our funding effectively frozen, we will have no way to pay the translators and continue providing quality translations to the masses. I suppose this is one of Re:Library’s biggest weaknesses, paying the translators a fixed rate per chapter also means we lose our only connection with them.

Some of the translators are empathetic and even offered to continue working without pay for a while, but I know a few of them, including myself, are struggling with money and relied on Re:Library’s pay to scrape a living, so I can’t in good conscience to keep asking them to work for me with no rewards, so sadly, for the time being, all translation work will be put on hold until we manage to rebuild everything that has been lost.

Meanwhile, I’ve set up a Ko-fi account with Promo Membership slots that offers a discounted rate. There are limited slots available, so quickly secure your slot before they run out! You can find our Ko-fi page here: https://ko-fi.com/relibrary

That said, I don’t see Ko-fi as a long term solution. With me living in a country that do not support PayPal or Stripe, I have to go through quite a huge loop to receive payments on PayPal, and setting up Stripe requires me to register a company in the United States through a third party.

We’re still in search of a more reliable payment processor that we can use, and eventually implement an on-site coin system for good measure. If anyone has a good suggestion on the types of payment processor we can use for our on-site implementation, please do share it with us, we deeply appreciate any kind of help we can get right now.

We’re also trying to accelerate the development of the new site with SirMetathyst so we can start figuring out our next steps soon, the new site probably won’t be anything fancy for now since we’re rushing, it’ll only have the bare minimum functionality available.

To keep up with any future updates, please do join our Discord server (https://discord.gg/re-library) and link your Discord account to Ko-fi, you will receive an exclusive membership role and get access to a private channel where we keep our paid members updated first on any changes going forward.

With that, I’ll end my announcements here. To be honest, I’ve been quite depressed the first 2 days this happened and have lost my appetite, I’ve even considered shutting down Re:Library for good, or even merging with other translation group. Naturally, I wouldn’t feel this depressed if I didn’t care about Re:Library, so I’m going to keep hanging on the thin thread. If you care about Re:Library as much as I do, now is the time to show your support, we need you now more than ever. Re:Library is a community-driven group and is filled with all sorts of amazing people, for we are stronger together, let’s show them that we will not go down so easily!

Thank you bearing with me and for taking your time to read this far. I bid you have a better day than I do.
