Hallun was happy. They lived with Father, learning of His work, and becoming friends with the servants.
Yet happiness never lasts.
It was subtle.
An extra servant standing at Father’s side, the presence of weapons hanging by the servants’ hips, whispers that would quiet whenever Hallun would be near, letters that would cause Father’s brows to frown, the sudden change of lessons to survival, including combat.
