「Before elaborating on Belltina, I want to reaffirm the common perception of her. Princess Leshimiiya, how much do you know about Belltina?」
「Umm, that’s…」
「That despite having a large magic power reserve, she is hopelessly terrible with sorcery, if I have to guess?」
「—It’s as you say.」
「Is this a well-known fact among the Ausente nobility?」
I personally want to know more about Belltina’s circumstances, so I tried asking Princess Leshimiiya’s objective opinion. If it’s already a well-known fact, it will likely affect her future activities, so it might be better to give the princess some information. Also, I simply want to know the intrinsic risks of being with Belltina.
「About Miss Chilandia—there is not that much information about her that has come to the surface. I believe the Chilandia family has been hiding her on purpose. However, there are rumors saying that the daughter of Chilandia can’t use sorcery. It may be more correct to say that not many people have made the connection between the rumors and Miss Belltina herself.」
「So in general, Belltina shouldn’t have any problem as long as she doesn’t associate with the Chilandia name, yes?」
「That should be the case, at least.」
The princess showed a troubled smile, likely because of Alcrei’s existence. I know I asked to begin with, but I’m really impressed by how clearly and confidently the princess answered. Not only did she have information, but she also understood how widely known it was to the public, something likely impossible to learn unintentionally.
「And another thing, do you know of the party called the Fool’s Gathering?」
「Hmm—I seem to recall hearing that name somewhere…」
「It’s a hunter party that is mainly active in Central. One of their members, a female sorcerer, is the daughter of a considerably influential family in Central. Is the name Amyulute familiar to you?」
「I remember now. It’s the party Lady Viviana is affiliated with, correct? If I’m not wrong, it’s been said that Lady Viviana’s way of sorcery is quite peculiar, but—」
「I sure wonder why Viviana, a lady of the Amyulute family, is earning a living as a hunter.」
With this much information, the princess should get the idea. She could probably understand even with fewer hints, but the faster this conversation goes, the better.
「Does Lady Viviana also have a similar difficulty in sorcery as Miss Belltina?」
「Both of them are bad with sorcery for nearly the same reason. But half-hearted effort simply isn’t enough to become someone like Viviana.」
In reality, Viviana’s issue is already resolved, but I don’t need to tell her about that, so I’m keeping quiet.
I have no idea how hard Viviana worked to climb to the level of B-rank, and I don’t know what kind of training she went through, so I have no baseline for how much struggle Belltina will go through as a hunter. Though if it’s just being a hunter, she can technically become one even now.
「—So, is it… umm, alright?」
I wonder how much meaning there is hidden behind her hesitant ‘alright.’ I don’t plan on puzzling all of this out, so I’ll just say the information I want to relay.
「While Belltina may have a significant handicap combat-wise, she has an ability that easily compensates for it. The Chilandia family is most likely unaware of it, however. After all, she’s uncharacteristically undertaking hunter courses here in the second academy.」
「May I ask you to teach me about that said ability?」
「Is there an obligation to inform the royalty about one’s abilities here in Ausente?」
「No, that isn’t the case, but…」
Unless you’re a knight in direct service to the country, they probably don’t require that. Individuals who will become hunters, in particular, are actually under Central’s jurisdiction, so demanding their information is difficult. Though this does depend on the relationship between the local Hunter Guild and the country, so I can’t say for sure. Still, the princess will likely continue feeling anxious unless she gains enough information, so I’ll give a vague rundown.
「Belltina is a talent specialized in detection and enemy search. Solely judging by her specialty, she’s capable enough to contend with me.」
「To that extent!?」
Perhaps due to her inadvertently showing an unfiltered response, the shocked princess shyly said, 「Apologies,」 while lowering her head. I feel like she was most shocked about the *’capable enough to contend with me’* part. Well, Belltina’s abilities being underestimated does help me, so I don’t particularly care. Maybe there’s also a sense of relief, since detection alone shouldn’t be able to do significant harm. If it was her combat ability that’s around our level, Ausente would need to be cautious with her as well.
「At the very least, she’s capable enough to perceive the barrier I’m currently using.」
「You’re currently using? Fithuille, can you see it?」
「I know it’s there. But I can’t see it clearly. How to possibly break through it is even more unclear.」
As I thought, Munyechka’s dolls can perceive it, but she seems to be telling the truth about not knowing how to break through, so I’ll take that as good news.
The princess not being able to sense it is normal; I’ll be troubled otherwise. Unlike pure magic power, barriers are normally visible unless tampered with, so depending on her capability, she might be able to see it. However, with this barrier being imperceptible even for Ciel, there’s no way the princess can perceive it.
After hearing Fithuille’s words, Princess Leshimiiya nodded with conviction before letting out an astonished sigh.
「The Chilandias have lost quite the precious talent, it seems.」
「They did indeed, but please keep this a secret. She would rather not be brought back into the Chilandia family, and it would be troublesome if she were eyed by other nobles. That may consequently encroach on my peace.」
「Of course. I swear that this will not be divulged from my lips.」
「I would greatly appreciate that.」
Princess Leshimiiya nodded in response to my light threat, so I guess we can end the topic of Belltina here. Her specifically saying *’from my lips’* is probably to account for people who already know about Belltina. Like Alcrei.
And that ends this week’s updates! It looks like Ain is feeling a bit helpful towards Bell with how much she has told the princess. May our shy girl thrive away from her family.
One thing I like in this chapter is how Viviana was mentioned. Just this little exchange shows how popular she is, since while the princess didn’t recognize the party name, she did recognize Viviana as a sorcerer hunter. It was also fun how Ain was giving hints for the princess to put two and two together, but Ain did kinda give up halfway, lol. The princess just frankly saying that the Chilandia family messed up with Bell is funny, too. She’ll probably keep a close eye on our shy Bell now, so hopefully she’ll have a decent future.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
