In other words, unlike with Ailneige, she wants all available information. Despite her courteous tone, it’s practically an order. While I’m sure refusing wouldn’t count as lese majeste, if she continues asking afterwards, it’ll be difficult to dodge the question without making my identity public here. Both Palra and Belltina are actually this nation’s citizens, so Princess Leshimiiya’s words take precedence over mine, even as Central’s princess-like figure. But let me turn her down one time.
「I’m not really one to divulge others’ personal information…」
「Could you make an exception just this once?」
And with that, I’ll stop dodging the question. This brings no harm to Ailneige on its own anyway, and, I believe, the princess is adamant about this because she wants to know whether the two party members have done anything that could possibly upset or harm Ailneige.
Belltina, in particular, is also from an anti-Central family, so the princess must also have some concerns.
「Understood. However, I’d prefer to keep the number of people overhearing as little as possible—」
As I was speaking, I could easily feel the people around us turn their gazes towards me.
They must be concerned about us being left alone. Well, I’m not backing down on my demands, though.
「I would appreciate it if you could limit it to one female bodyguard. I don’t mind if you even request for someone stronger than me.」
Hoping that the princess takes the hint, she nodded and responded, 「That won’t be an issue.」
After that, she commanded a nearby attendant to bring Fithuille here and turned to me as if to confirm. As I nodded, Princess Leshimiiya smiled with relief.
Before long, Fithuille arrived, and the princess then ordered everyone but her to leave. There were several who appeared hesitant, but I confirmed through detection that everyone left the room.
「Princess, you called?」
「I need you to serve as my bodyguard right now. The reason I only called for you is because I want to limit the people hearing the contents of our conversation.」
「Understood. But is Thuille really needed?」
Fithuille gave off an unsociable impression, but when I think about how she’s still Munyechka on the inside, it’s just amusing. On that note, Iena and Semiette are also technically Munyechka. Rather than being a good actress, I probably just haven’t seen the *real* Munyechka yet. It’s possible that the main body’s personality is also an act.
However, I think all of them share a general thought process, so it’s not like I can’t trust her.
「That’s…」
Princess Leshimiiya looks my way with a troubled expression. Well, I was the one who requested Fithuille, so that’s only natural.
Following the princess’ gaze, Fithuille turned to me and, with barely any change in expression, opened her eyes wide.
「Correction. If security is actually needed, then Thuille alone is not enough. Is there a different reason?」
「—You can tell her true power, then?」
「I can.」
Hearing Fithuille’s confident response, Princess Leshimiiya showed a contemplative expression. She must be adjusting her personal assessment. After all, she just learned that Fithuille is a talent capable of seeing through Ailneige’s true strength. While it may be partly true that she saw through my power, the reason she reacted like that was probably because she personally knows about us. Munyechka must have informed her, after all, and I don’t think the dolls don’t share information with each other.
「Back to the previous topic, I am not expecting you to fight Miss Ailneige. If things ever escalate to that point, there’s no telling what Ausente’s fate would be.」
「Thuille was only called so the princess can talk in private?」
「Yes, it was so we can be alone with the least amount of people.」
「Besides, I’m familiar with how nobles tend to react.」
Since the princess seemed curious about my reasoning, I offered a plausible-sounding explanation. The truth, however, is that I know Fithuille is actually Munyechka, and I’m certain she holds no ulterior motives toward Palra and Belltina.
Apparently, this fabricated reason was convincing enough, as the princess nodded with satisfaction. Still, I suspect her expression of understanding was partly intentional. According to her earlier explanation, Fithuille has the endorsement of both King Ausente and the headmistress. While I can’t speak for the king with certainty, I highly doubt either of them would personally harbor any malicious intent toward Palra or Belltina.
「Now then, we were talking about my impression of my party members, weren’t we? First, let me say in advance that the princess’ worry is unneeded.」
In other words, her worries about them having upset Ailneige and of them possibly weighing me down in the future.
「Though as I said earlier, the two still have much to work on—particularly with Belltina; she’s sure to have a difficult time in the future.」
「Is that perhaps… in relation to her family?」
「No, it’s in relation to her personal difficulties with sorcery. If she wishes to be able to mainly fight with sorcery, then it would likely require great effort on her part.」
Hearing my answer, the princess had a complicated smile; is it because she’s worried that Belltina is going to be a burden for me?
Well, that isn’t all Belltina has to offer, so while being careful about how much to say, I continued my report to Princess Leshimiiya.
And that ends this chapter! Somehow, Fithuille managed get dragged into the main story!
As Ain said, it is admittedly amusing to think that it’s just Munyechka (or a fragment of her?) doing some really committed role-play. I honestly feel a bit bad for the princess, since she’s the one least in the know. For now, their topic seems to be, as expected, focused on Belltina. I do wonder how much Ain will be sharing with the princess, considering Bell’s relationship with her family.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
