Late in the evening, I borrow Ciel’s body and examine the magic pouch.
There are as many sorceric items as there are stars, but I think the magic pouch specifically, just as its name implies, is within the domain of magic, not sorcery.
I don’t know if the people of this world think the same as I do, but what the magic pouch does is forcefully stretch out an existing space.
Another possibility is that it might be connected to a different space, but for some reason, I don’t feel like that’s the case.
To create such a pouch, one typically sews a magic circle into the pouch interior, inserts a magic core, and activates it. That’s not the whole process, but it covers the gist of it.
If I’m to tinker with it, it’d be best to stop the supply of magic power and restore the distorted space first. And as I sent in my magic power—or rather, divine power—I roughly understood it’s workings.
While I likely can’t make a magic pouch from scratch as I currently am, it seems I can modify it.
For example, this magic pouch I got from Carol was made by an apprentice for practice, and just as you’d expect, the way it stretches space is inefficient. I can improve it.
However, I can’t increase the magic power absorption efficiency. We have a lot of magic cores anyway, so it’s not an issue.
Connecting to a different space instead of stretching it feels feasible, but not for me. Like this, I feel out what’s possible and what’s not and move on to my main objective. My first idea was to make it so passage of time is stopped inside of it, but honestly, all I need is for it to be able to store food for a long time.
The simplest option might be refrigeration, I guess?
It’s easy to cool and freeze things using sorcery, so I thought it might be an easier function to add, but since I’ve never made a sorceric item before, I don’t even know where to start. Up until now, I could roughly infer what I need to produce wanted results.
Similar to when I tried seeing if the magic power absorption efficiency could be improved, I somehow knew that it’s not possible.
In that case, what about tinkering with time instead? No matter how you look at it, this one should be more complicated to achieve.
Or so I first thought, but somehow it feels doable. Imagine the melding divine power into the magic pouch’s space.
No, it’s more annoyingly intricate than that. How do I describe it? It’s like buttoning up several thousand buttons one by one, by hand.
The power consumption on it’s own is low, but it requires a lot of precision.
It doesn’t feel like I’m making a sorceric item at all, but it does serve as good control practice, so I don’t find it that bad.
I had no idea how much time had passed, but after doing all I could, time within the magic pouch seemed to slow down.
It hasn’t stopped. I tried to see if it could be stopped, but I couldn’t make it that far.
In any case, I suppose I should make some boiling hot water for a test.
Well, not that I can boil it that hot. The hottest water I can create with sorcery is about as warm as bathwater. It’s sufficient for testing, so it’s fine.
I set some water aside for comparison and tried to place the remaining water inside the magic pouch.
And just as I was about to do so, I felt something out of place. A chill ran through me.
Just as I was wondering what had happened, I suddenly realized I was sitting on a chair at a familiar garden. In front of me sat a familiar beauty. If I remember correctly, she can change her appearance, can’t she?
It seems like currently, I’ve been forcefully transported to the divine realm… It’s likely because of that magic pouch. After all, it did give me a weird chill. I might have done something incredibly reckless. And, yes, I was casually using divine power too.
「It’s not really that big of an issue. You simply used your own power to obtain what you desired. I’ve already granted permission before, so I don’t plan on rebuking you for that.」
「In that case, why was I summoned here? It won’t be like last time, where three days passed in a blink of an eye, will it?」
「The main reason it took three days for you to wake up wasn’t the travel between realms, but your deteriorated mental state. You’ll wake up before morning this time.」
「If that’s the case, then I’m relieved.」
I wasn’t sure if relief is the appropriate reaction, though. Was my mental state that really fragile back then? I thought I was self-conscious enough, but apparently, I underestimated the situation.
「So, I summoned you here to give you a warning. The object you’ve created— I’d advise against letting anyone other than you use it. More specifically, don’t insert any living thing you don’t genuinely wish to protect inside it.」
「What will happen if I do?」
「How should I explain it? They would deform. Insert an entire body, and the whole body distorts; insert just a part, and only that part distorts. Normally they should get crushed or explode, but you are incapable of any magical attack, so the end result is a distorted transformation. However, this transformation only occurs with particularly complex living creatures.」
Simple living creatures are fine, then. Nevertheless, realising that I was about to make a catastrophic mistake with Ciel’s body sent a chill down my spine. I might have even disfigured Ciel’s hand just now.
「I believe you’d protect her before that could happen. In any case, only the two of you can use it. As for time, it passes 30 times slower inside.」
「I understand. Thank you very much.」
「Alright, well, see you again.」
The creator god bid me farewell, and I returned to reality.
I still can’t get used to this; after all, the last time this happened, three days had elapsed.
However, this time, I found myself in the same position as right before my departure to the divine realm. The water I had prepared was still warm, and a wave of relief washed over me.
And that ends this week’s chapter! Without Sumiaria. The whole update post was just a red herring, nyeheheh! Today’s a bit of an exposition-y chapter, so not much for me to say.
This time, we have Ain accidentally making an instant mutation dimension by accident, lol. Man, who would have expected Ain’s first magic to be this thorough. The modified magic pouch should kill, but it can’t, just because Ain *can’t* make anything through magic and sorcery that can kill or even just hurt. Still, it’s not enough to break through Ain’s protection, it seems. It is funny how the creator god just instantly summoned her, implying that whatever dimensional shenanigans the modified magic pouch does was crazy enough that the creator god sensed it as Ain was about to insert something inside and decided “Oh, this needs a precaution”.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
