Re:Library

Just as Lin Feng was about to step into the storage room, he felt a sudden tug on his tail, causing it to quiver with surprise.

“What’s your game?” Lin Feng asked, a mix of disgust and embarrassment evident in his voice, realizing she was holding onto his tail’s vulnerable base. He remembered the doctor warning Liu Mengqi about this particular weakness. Did she share that information with anyone else?

“If you don’t lead me to the door, I’ll snap your tail,” Yan Jie whispered threateningly, her fingers tightening around his tail’s base, her sharp nails drawing a small bead of blood.

“Do you honestly believe that threatening me will work?” Lin Feng countered, his breaths coming in ragged bursts, anger evident in every exhale. The audacity of threats, irrespective of the time or place, never ceased to infuriate him.

“I’ve heard about the frailty of your tail. Would you fancy being a tail-less cat?” Yan Jie teased, drawing a long needle from her hair, pressing it to Lin Feng’s neck, her eyes piercing into his blue depths.

“You severely underestimate your adversaries,” Lin Feng shot back. In a swift, almost surreal movement, his left hand captured Yan Jie’s wrist, while his right disarmed her of the needle. Almost effortlessly, he lifted her into the air by her throat.

Eyes bulging with disbelief, Yan Jie struggled for breath as Lin Feng’s grasp tightened.

“There won’t be a next time,” Lin Feng intoned. “However, you have my word; we don’t plan to kill you. You’ll leave here intact.” With that, he released her.

Sent flying back into the storage room, Yan Jie clutched her throat, coughing violently. She shot Lin Feng a resentful glare, her pride wounded by his overpowering dominance.

Despite her cunning nature, Yan Jie seemed genuinely fearful of a lethal punishment. Perhaps Yan Aoxue had made some implications when tying them up earlier.

In that instant, Lin Feng realized he might not have a complete understanding of Yan Aoxue after all. Maybe…

“Get them out,” Lin Feng ordered, setting the needle on the table, drawing attention to his bleeding neck and the blood on his tail.

“You should’ve been cautious. You knew they weren’t trustworthy,” Yan Aoxue expressed, rushing over, her eyes clouded with worry for Lin Feng.

“I’ve got this,” the school doctor interjected, making her way to inspect Lin Feng’s tail.

The episode with the needle had clearly marked the line for the principal, old man Liu, and the school doctor. Their unanimous nods signified their agreement.

“Yes, escort them out. But leave the fragile-looking girl; I want to speak with her. Later, I have matters to discuss with you all. Ah, gentle, doctor!” Lin Feng chided with a slight smile.

The doctor responded by playfully squeezing Lin Feng’s cheeks. “What’s this for, doctor?” Lin Feng quipped, swatting her hand away.

“Don’t wear that gloomy expression. Their exile isn’t on you, understood?” The doctor stated, embracing Lin Feng to offer some comfort.

Soothed by the familiar presence, Lin Feng returned the embrace. “I’m okay, doctor. I’m just concerned about one of the girls. She was coerced by Yan Jie and her companion. Once I settle things, I’ll return.”

“You’ve just returned. Ensure you rest,” the doctor advised.

“I’m aware,” Lin Feng acknowledged, leaving the comforting warmth to ascend to the rooftop.

Yan Jie, along with the two girls, faced the disdain of their peers as Song Zhe and Liu Tao dragged them away. From his vantage point, Hao Jian watched intently.

“You’re colder than I imagined, Potato Jian,” he remarked.

“While I’m not one to judge your peers,” Hao Jian continued, “as a senior, such deceptive antics are beneath us. My entire ethos, as Hao Jian, revolves around justice.”

“More like a prickly fool,” Lin Feng shot back.

“Even fools have a code! We don’t resort to backstabbing or plots. By the way, your classmate Yan Aoxue is quite the cold-blooded one. Without cause, she opted to take two lives. Is that rationality commendable or…”

“What?!” Lin Feng interrupted, his gaze sharp as he observed the scene below. To his shock, it wasn’t Chen Ranran who cast those votes…
