“People always change, it’s just that in the apocalypse, it happens faster,” the school doctor reflected, gently swirling a glass filled with high-end red wine and taking a contemplative sip.
“Let’s go, Mengqi. We need to get back to our lectures and experiments,” she said, holding up a strand of silver hair she had seemingly plucked from Lin Feng’s head earlier. She gestured to Liu Mengqi to accompany her upstairs.
“Okay,” Liu Mengqi agreed, quickly tidying up her plate and wiping her mouth, preparing to follow the school doctor.
Suddenly, a loud yell cut through the air, causing everyone to pause. They turned to see the chubby man impulsively grabbing the hand axe and rushing outside.
Liu Mengqi halted, her steps faltering at the sight, but the school doctor tugged her towards their makeshift laboratory.
“He’s probably going to get himself killed out there,” Song Zhe remarked, watching the chubby man’s desperate dash. Recalling Lin Feng’s dismissive attitude, Song Zhe chose not to intervene further. He casually took another sip of his Sprite, then opened his phone, only to be greeted by the same old videos. Sighing, he started to eat, murmuring to himself about the food’s tastiness.

“Is this really okay, junior? That chubby guy doesn’t seem capable of taking on 100 zombies,” Hao Jian commented with a smile in the elevator, observing Lin Feng’s complex expression.
“Let it be. Once that chubby guy realizes he’s been fooled, he’ll probably do as I said and just wait it out. Facing those zombies is the only way he’ll understand his life isn’t worth a million.”
“Are you worried about him?” Hao Jian inquired, glancing at Lin Feng’s anxiously twitching tail.
“Of course not. I’m concerned about Yan Aoxue. And that chubby guy wouldn’t dare face the zombies even if he had ten times the courage. He’s likely already retreated back to the hotel and will probably find somewhere to hide.”
“Really?” Hao Jian’s tone held a mix of emotions.
“Wow, senior, this car is something else!” Lin Feng exclaimed as they stepped out of the elevator, eyeing the modified Land Rover in front of them. The vehicle’s front end was fitted with a welded triangular iron plate, the tips stained with conspicuous dark blood.
“See this, junior? This is a luxury vehicle the principal and I customized. It’s perfect for dealing with crowds of zombies,” Hao Jian explained with evident pride, pointing out the car’s high-end and sophisticated features.
“It’s really impressive,” Lin Feng admitted, admiring the extensive modifications to the car’s front and sides.
The principal’s craftsmanship was undeniable.
“What’s this?” Lin Feng noticed a dark brown crystal attached to one of the spikes, shining distinctly under the lights of the underground parking lot. He approached, carefully picked it up with his gloved hand, and examined it closely.
The crystal, which seemed to have shattered and remained attached to the car after a collision, sparked his curiosity.
“What is this? I don’t know, junior. It’s probably just some crystal we hit against a wall,” Hao Jian casually replied, sliding into the driver’s seat. He patted the passenger seat eagerly, looking forward to sharing the unobstructed thrill of the drive from the VIP seat.
“Oh,” Lin Feng responded, placing the crystal in his pocket before getting into the passenger seat.
He soon realized that the car had been transformed into a kind of apocalypse tank, designed to split and shred zombies with its side spikes. With a few more vehicles like this, they could easily navigate the wasteland.
“Where did you guys get this car modified?”
“At a repair shop behind the mall. Convenient, right? But, apparently, Yan Aoxue disappeared while clearing zombies in that area.”
“Is that so?”
As they continued their conversation, the crystal in Lin Feng’s pocket emitted a faint yellow glow.
