“Hey, you deadbeat fatty, stop following us around like some creep!”

Anna’s exasperated shout came from Lin Feng’s shoulder, targeting the chubby man who had been trailing them like a relentless stalker for quite some time.

Due to Anna’s constant complaints of tiredness, Lin Feng had hoisted her onto his shoulders. Otherwise, the ceaseless chatter from her and the fat man would have been enough to drive him to distraction.

Anna’s small feet swung gently behind Lin Feng. While helping her take off her shoes, he noticed several blisters on her feet, which made him realize that she had been pushing herself too hard. Despite being a girl, she had not been taking good care of her body. Some of the blisters had even burst, indicating that they had begun to trouble her partway through their fight with the zombie pig.

Lin Feng casually applied some alcohol he carried to Anna’s blistered feet. Deciding to carry her on his shoulders for the rest of the journey, he was prepared to leverage his advantages as a mutant, even though he was also mentally and physically drained.

Using his abilities several times during the battle had taken a toll on Lin Feng, especially mentally. All he wanted now was to collapse into a comfortable hotel bed for a sound sleep, followed by a satisfying potato meal of Hao Jian’s cooking.

Oh, he suddenly remembered – Hao Jian had gone to convey information to the principal. Lin Feng had instructed him before leaving that if the mall became unsafe or convenient, they should relocate to their current location. Being near the port would make their escape easier. More importantly, Lin Feng found himself missing Yan Aoxue even more, particularly after seeing her photo. Their relationship had always been ambiguous, but Lin Feng felt he was close to winning her heart, considering her parting words and their conversation that night…

Moreover, Lin Feng was confused about her father’s involvement and needed to confront Yan Aoxue about what she had been hiding from him. This, he suspected, was the reason for the invisible barrier he had always felt between them at school.

“Lily, that fat guy is still following us. Are you sure we shouldn’t send him away?” Anna turned her head to look at Lin Feng, who was carrying her.

Lin Feng glanced back at the chubby man, who shuddered under his stern, blue-eyed gaze.

Naturally timid and easily frightened, the chubby man wouldn’t have gotten involved if not for his so-called friend tricking him into gambling, leading to a massive debt. He bitterly reflected on how his friend, who didn’t usually gamble, had insisted on going that day. Recalling how his friend, with broken legs, had tremblingly told him about this million-dollar contest, he felt a mix of relief and regret.

Upon seeing Lin Feng efficiently killing zombies, the chubby man had decided it was safer to stay with him. After all, it would be foolish not to stick with someone so capable.

“You can follow if you want, but don’t expect me to help you out of danger,” Lin Feng said over his shoulder to the chubby man before continuing towards the hotel.

Lin Feng was indifferent to the man’s persistence. The man was just a pawn, a pitiful soul unwittingly sent to his doom, and it wasn’t worth arguing with a mere chess piece. He seemed to lack combat skills, his only apparent talent being, perhaps, in eating.

“You’re finally back,” Liu Mengqi called out from afar, her eyes filled with curiosity as she saw the disheveled Anna on Lin Feng’s back and the chubby man following at a distance.

“You haven’t gotten into more trouble, have you?”
