Re:Library

After a hearty meal, Lin Feng, feeling rejuvenated, stretched and yawned. The plan was for him to take the first watch and then, at around 2 AM, he’d nudge Song Zhe to take over. The upbeat mood was evident in the café where some of the girls were still lost in light-hearted banter when he went to get his friend.

Casting a glance at the animated group in a quick hello, Lin Feng hopped down to the first floor. While the others were engrossed in their chatter, Lin Feng had a little side mission: to snag a Rolex. Having a backup to his phone, especially one that combined style and function, was always a good idea.

(TL: Honestly, I’ve never heard of the Chinese names for these brands till now, and it’s kind of interesting to see how many brands the author has already thrown in. Rolexes are ugly btw.)

The ground floor was a blend of sparkling jewelry and some discount clothes. Lin Feng rummaged around but couldn’t find anything that felt “just right.” He shrugged, thinking he’d have better luck upstairs next time. His current jacket was comfy, but the color? A bit too girly for his liking.

With a chuckle, he tied his hair into a high ponytail, mulling over getting some braiding tips from Liu Mengqi. After all, in a scrap, he didn’t want his hair getting in the way.

The more he thought about it, the more Lin Feng realized he had grown quite fond of his locks. They felt like an old friend, providing warmth on the chilliest of days. And Liu Mengqi would probably have his hide if they chopped them.

Spotting the iconic Rolex sign, he muttered with a grin, “Bingo!” and headed towards the boutique. The dim lighting made the Rolex logo seem almost like a treasure. With a few twists and turns, he skillfully deactivated the alarms. No need for any unwanted attention, especially from those pesky zombies.

Using a crowbar with a flourish, he pried open the display case. Among the luxurious collection, one particular silver Rolex caught his eye. It had a hint of luxury with its white gold dial, red and blue framing, and a sleek black center, but he wasn’t a particular fan of its sparkly look.

Slipping it on, he noticed it was a tad loose. “Might need a little adjustment,” he said aloud. A man’s size was too loose on his hands now, but nothing a few tweaks wouldn’t fix.

Scooping up a bunch of watches onto a small plate, Lin Feng grinned, thinking of the principal and the other guys back at the base. “They’ll probably need some too,” he thought to himself. Just as he was about to make his way back, a tantalizing aroma wafted over.

“A pet store?” he thought, spotting the white sign adorned with delightful pet illustrations. The irony of being attracted to such a place at this time wasn’t lost on him, but he felt compelled to enter.

Inside, the scene was somber. The heavy air carried the sad stench of deceased pets, forever trapped in their cages, never having experienced freedom. But just as Lin Feng’s spirits dipped, a soft, almost inaudible “Meow~” tugged at his heart.

Hope amidst despair: a lone kitten had survived! Drawn to the sound, Lin Feng found the fragile feline in its cage. As if sensing him, the kitten meowed hoarsely as best it could. It seemed its diminutive size, and perhaps a lingering food supply, had been its lifeline.

Moved by the sight, Lin Feng gently opened the cage, cradling the weak kitten, which responded with a gentle purr and a lick, as if responding to its own kind. Without delay, he poured out some kitten food onto a plate and filled another with water, ensuring the little fighter had all it needed to regain its strength.
