Nim paused for a moment after hearing Doris’s question.

“Eh?”
“Why are you daydreaming? What exactly is your relationship with Princess Mirabelle? Why would she save you? Or, was it because of a burden like you that she was unable to escape?”

Doris grabbed Nim’s slender shoulder and viciously interrogated the latter.

“Wah… it hurts…”

Nim felt pain as if her shoulder had been clawed.

-This was something incredibly important. This was about all the elves’ survival. This was about the critical issue of whether Mirabelle, their leader, could be saved by them. As long as it was for the princess, they were willing to do anything – even pay with their own lives.

Mirabelle was an existence who could lead the elves and ensure their survival or destruction.

“Besides, why would the vampire queen only capture our princess but not you? Hurry and tell me everything!”
“Please say everything as it really happened without missing a single thing. Tell us everything…”

Hearing this, Nim didn’t know how she should respond. She was scared by Doris to the point of backing up several steps. It then seemed like her leg bumped against something.

The box that Nim bumped into fell on the ground. Doris panicked as she immediately picked up the box.

“S… sorry…”
“Be careful, this is divine to us!”

However, something that Doris didn’t expect occurred-

When Nim got close to the box, a powerful light from the box started shining and leaking outside.

“What… what’s going on!?”

Nim was really surprised as she looked at the box. The other elves all had looks of astonishment as they stared at Nim.

“No no no, I… I didn’t do anything…”

Doris put down the box and walked over towards Nim, who was really afraid and nervous to the point of closing her eyes. -She was afraid that she would get hit if she touched someone else’s things without permission with her dirty hands, which was why she closed her eyes. This was likely a trait of her being abused for too long as a slave. If this had been Princess Mirabelle here instead, she definitely would have said something arrogant.

Doris opened the box and confirmed the sharp weapon that was inside. -As she expected, Nim had the “quality” to be able to use this weapon.

Thus, Doris nodded towards the other elves, meaning that her guess had been confirmed. However, the elves still made Nim talk about what happened to Mirabelle. After they finished listening, they all smiled in relief.

“No need to worry. We are the princess’ companions. Since you’re also the princess’ companion, then we’ll treat you well. Was our princess the only elf who was targeted by the vampire queen back then?”
“Y… yes…”

Nim nervously swallowed some saliva before nodding in confirmation afterwards.

“I see, so that’s how it was…”

Nim closed her eyes, preparing herself mentally to receive their scolding. However, it didn’t seem like they were about to scold Nim, so Nim carefully asked Doris, “Um… I did something like this, but you all don’t blame me?”

“Of course we wouldn’t blame you for it. As I said earlier, as long as you’re the princess’ companion, we’ll treat you well. The princess just wanted to save you at that time, so wouldn’t blaming you be the equivalent of blaming the princess? Not to mention, we also need you to do something more important, in order to take back Princess Mirabelle-”

“As long as it’s for the princess, I’m willing to do anything!”

But when Doris told Nim her plan, Nim hurriedly shook her head.

“No, it’s something that only you can do, since only a child with such a pure heart like you can activate this item’s effects to the utmost. If it’s you, you’ll definitely be able to deal with that vampire queen…”

Really, Nim was worried, extremely worried – would she make a mistake that would cause the princess to be lost in the abyss forever?

Their strength was far too weak. They would only have one chance to save the princess. If Nim failed, the elves’ plan would completely collapse. So, there was only one chance.

-Princess Mirabelle wouldn’t come with them that obediently, would she?

That meant there were two possibilities.

The first was that Captain Joanna had escaped before the vampires arrived. Otherwise – she had been captured by the vampires.

However, the elves were going to take Princess Mirabelle back even if they had to give up Joanna.

Still, that was only a last resort. If at all possible, they would definitely pray for the perfect ending – saving both Joanna and Mirabelle, and then have their [associates] send all the elves not under the vampires’ control out of this city-

This was the elves’ ultimate goal. Mirabelle Brillana was central to this entire plan. She was the only surviving elven royalty who would have to lead all the remaining elves.

She was the only one who could gather together all of the elves who were [outside the city], and then lead and reestablish the elven tribe.

That was what it meant by saying that Mirabelle was central to everything.
