Some time ago, in the [City of Chaos], Vera 17 found herself in an utterly unfamiliar place. “Where am I?” she exclaimed, her shock palpable. Moments before, she had been on the street, but now she was surrounded by an overwhelmingly black city, causing her to question whether she was in a dream.
“Didn’t I tell you? This is my new home,” Yaeger clarified, untying Vera 17. “Actually, it’s our new home. You’ll be living here too.”
Just then, Little Blue, the custodian of the [City of Chaos], floated over and asked, “Master, who is this little creature?” Vera 17 and Little Blue exchanged curious glances, each sensing a similar aura in the other. This mutual recognition caused both to shyly turn away, their shoulders shaking with suppressed excitement.
Yaeger, observing their peculiar interaction, was taken aback. “What are you two doing?” she inquired.
Little Blue paused and replied, “Master, I sensed a similar aura from her, so I couldn’t help myself.” Vera 17 nodded vigorously in agreement.
“You can dance later. Let me first do the introductions. This is Vera 17,” Yaeger said, gesturing towards Vera 17, then turned to Little Blue. “And this is Little Blue, the custodian of this city.”
Little Blue looked at Vera 17 with curiosity. “Master, what is she here for?”
“To be your assistant, and my maidservant,” Yaeger answered.
Vera 17, caught off guard by this news, could only muster a surprised “Huh?”
“Nice! Master, I like you the most!” Little Blue exclaimed, dancing with excitement. She was thrilled at how quickly her master had found her an assistant, hopeful that more assistance would soon follow to lighten her load.
“So, what’s being an assistant about?” Vera 17 asked, tilting her head in confusion.
“Run errands for Little Blue,” Yaeger explained.
“I mean, I don’t know what I need to do,” Vera 17 admitted, still bewildered. She had been suddenly brought to this place and told she would be an assistant, without understanding the full context.
“Little Blue, explain the situation to her,” Yaeger said, offloading the task to Little Blue, finding it too bothersome to explain herself.
Little Blue flew in front of Vera 17 and unleashed a torrent of words. After listening, Vera 17’s confusion only deepened. A mobile fortress floating in the air seemed unbelievable. However, her skepticism was challenged when Little Blue took her to the edge of [City of Chaos], revealing the view below.
Vera 17’s mind was in disarray, struggling to believe the reality of their situation. “From now on, you will be my first assistant. Work hard, and I’ll take good care of you!” Little Blue declared proudly.
“That sounds pretty good,” Vera 17 responded, but then shook her head. “However, I refuse.”
“What?” Little Blue couldn’t hide her disbelief.
“Firstly, all I know is how to eat. Secondly, I don’t want to be your lackey,” Vera 17 stated firmly, crossing her arms. Working for [Princess] was one thing, but serving Little Blue was another matter entirely.
“Oh, so you don’t want to?” Little Blue floated closer, almost touching Vera 17’s face.
“No,” Vera 17 replied bluntly.
“Since Master assigned you as my assistant, you must be a so-called hacker in this world, right?” Little Blue said with a smile, having gathered some information about this world during Yaeger’s absence.
“So what if I am,” Vera 17 retorted.
“How about a bet? If you can out-hack me, you can stay here rent-free. But if you lose, heheh!” Little Blue challenged.
“Heh, you actually dared to challenge me, a top-tier hacker in this world. How bold!” Vera 17 flicked her silver hair and chuckled confidently. She was certain of her abilities in this arena, determined to maintain her status as a freeloader.
Little Blue borrowed a mobile phone from Yaeger, who watched the contest from the sidelines. The challenge was to gain backdoor access to a highly secure, well-known website as quickly as possible. Despite being taken aback by Little Blue’s skills, Vera 17 was confident in her victory; after all, she was a top-tier hacker.
However, in less than two seconds, Vera 17’s confidence shattered. “I… Lost…” she stammered, her eyes widening as she stared at the information on the holographic screen. They had been hacking a heavily secured website in Cathay, a task she had estimated would take her at least two minutes to accomplish using a phone. She was utterly outclassed and defeated.
Yaeger watched the scene unfold with a calm smile. Although she wasn’t a hacker herself, she understood the reason for Vera 17’s defeat. Little Blue had effortlessly breached the website’s defenses using brute force, while Vera 17 had to methodically dismantle them. The gap in their abilities was stark and undeniable.
“I lost…” Vera 17 repeated, still struggling to accept her defeat.
“Hahahaha, from now on, you are my first assistant!” Little Blue declared triumphantly, her arms crossed and a bright smile on her face.
“Sob…” Vera 17, on the other hand, was overwhelmed with emotion, tears streaming down her face. This was her first significant loss in the realm of hacking, her pride now seemingly insignificant compared to Little Blue’s prowess.
“Don’t worry, I’ll treat you well!” Little Blue reassured her, tapping her shoulder in a leader-like manner.
Vera 17 continued to cry, visibly distraught. “Master, what’s with her?” Little Blue asked, puzzled by Vera 17’s reaction.
“Let her be alone for a while. Send me to the furniture shop. By the way, do you want a mattress?” Yaeger inquired, changing the subject.
“The thing you sleep on?” Little Blue asked for clarification.
“That’s right.”
“Yes!” Little Blue replied enthusiastically.
A flash of white light later, Yaeger was back at the furniture store. She selected a bed for Vera 17 and Little Blue and gathered additional furniture. After completing the purchase and scanning the code, Little Blue teleported Yaeger and the furniture back home.
By that time, Vera 17 had composed herself, at least outwardly. Together, the three of them decorated two more rooms. Late into the night, Yaeger released her aura, cleansing the new furniture with her ability, filling the room with a pleasant fragrance.
After completing the tasks, Yaeger prepared for a break before entering the game. However, as she entered her room, her phone vibrated. Checking it, she saw it was a call from her sister.
