Endless Sea had been stunned by all the flashy skills Zane was throwing out. But after being snapped back by his shout, he quickly regained focus.
Right—I can’t just stand around watching. This is an Epic-tier boss!
After several exchanges of long-range attacks, Starry finally closed in on Lordsey. Yet his expression remained composed as he activated Swift Step! With the fluidity of an oiled gear, he rolled backward, instantly widening the gap between himself and the trio.
Then came the stones—
Not his infamous Fivefold Throw, but single, repeated throws. Even so, the only difference was in quantity—not power.
This boss has two types of basic attacks! And Blazing Fire is still on cooldown. Starry, don’t take that head-on!
“I know,” Starry replied curtly.
She lowered her center of gravity, and with a quick pivot, dodged the incoming projectile with ease. Unfortunately, Endless Sea wasn’t so lucky. The stone, deflected slightly by Starry, had caught him off guard.
The flying rock loomed large in his vision, and then—
Nearly a quarter of his health vanished in an instant!
“Holy crap!” Endless Sea turned pale. Just one little rock could hit that hard?
“Invoke: Mire!” The ground beneath Lordsey’s feet turned soft and wet. His legs began to sink—visible to the naked eye!
At last, Lordsey’s composed expression began to crack. But that didn’t mean he would just sit still and surrender. He dropped the basket of stones from his back onto the mire. It quickly sank into the mud, but Lordsey used the basket as a springboard and leapt clear of the swamp! Being small definitely had its perks!
Damn! How is he so agile!?
Thousand Flash Steps!
Starry predicted his landing point and dashed forward to intercept. But Lordsey didn’t flinch—his greatclub gleamed with the glow of a Heavy Strike!
Just as they were about to clash, Starry suddenly pulled back. Before Lordsey could react, Endless Sea emerged from behind.
Guardian Shield!
Taunt!
Lordsey instinctively swung his weapon at the new target. For some reason, this guy just looked incredibly punchable right now. He had to go down first!

Over a third of his HP vanished in one strike. Endless Sea chugged a potion while retreating—if he took another hit, he’d be teleporting back to town.
Seeing the target trying to escape, Lordsey—under the effects of taunt—was single-minded in his desire to finish the job.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Starry’s lips as she executed a normal attack and followed up with Icy Moon Slash!

Frost spread along Lordsey’s body, but it failed to freeze him—the level difference was too great! Even so, the frost didn’t vanish. It clung to his form, slowing his movement! That was the effect of the Icecold Ring!
Shhk—
Starry took the opportunity to slash him once more across the back.

Just then, Lordsey gritted his teeth and snapped out of the taunt. The level gap made the effect wear off fast.
“Damn humans!” he roared in fury.
But Zane had anticipated this.
Invoke: Vines!
The binding effect landed with perfect timing. Lordsey was bound in place by writhing vines, unable to move. Still, the duration was greatly reduced due to the level difference. But in that short window, Starry dished out nearly 600 more damage, while Zane jogged closer—those short legs weren’t helping.
The moment the vines snapped, Lordsey was seething with rage, but had nowhere to vent it. Starry had already repositioned herself just beyond melee range, at a distance of about three yards—close enough to threaten, far enough to escape.
On top of that, the chilling aura from the Icecold Ring continued to sap his speed. And with his stone basket gone, things were looking grim.
Zane noticed something else—Lordsey’s throwing skills actually required physical stones! They weren’t conjured from thin air.
Huh. Kinda realistic for once.
Grinning like someone begging for a punch, he strode forward with absolute confidence. Once Frost’s cooldown reset and Blazing Fire sealed his retreat, this boss would be taken down cleanly.
…
Lordsey’s condition was rapidly deteriorating.
The sword-wielding girl before him was like a completely different person compared to earlier—her relentless assault left him barely able to breathe. And every time he tried to build up power for a heavy strike, his focus would inexplicably falter, and his weapon would instead swing toward the other human knight.
With layers of frost covering him, it felt like he was dragging a mountain with every step. His feet constantly sank into the earth, which would inexplicably shift into swampland moments later. And yet, the humans seemed completely unaffected—as if walking on solid ground.
And those cursed vines. Normally, he would have been able to dodge them with ease, but now, his body felt like a flickering candle in the wind. Sword slashes and hammer strikes repeatedly tore through his flesh, each hit bringing up devastating damage numbers.
His life was draining fast.
A wall of fire blazed up behind him. Lordsey knew full well the cost of forcing his way through it. But… there was no time to take the long way around. At this rate, he would die anyway.
His HP had dropped to less than a tenth. The next moment could be his last. But—he had no regrets. He was fighting for his people!
…Yet, the death he had imagined never came.
What is going on?
…
“Zane, watch your back!” Starry suddenly turned and shouted, alarmed by something.
“Huh?” Zane blinked, confused. Wasn’t the boss already about to fall?
“Ugh—” A sharp pain bloomed behind him before he could react.
Backstab!

A crimson damage number floated up. As the dagger was pulled from his back, Zane stumbled forward a few steps. He turned around and saw a player standing there. The ID above their head read: FaintTrace.
Launching a sneak attack at this moment clearly meant he’d been tailing them for some time—waiting for the boss to drop to low HP, and then aiming to eliminate the support girl first!
This guy was a pro. To shadow them for that long without Starry noticing—his mastery of the Assassin class had to be top-tier in the whole server.
But right now, he looked stunned.
Watching Zane’s HP barely drop, FaintTrace’s mouth opened slightly in surprise. What the hell? This little loli… is a damn tank?!
“Sea! Hold the boss—I’m going to back her up!” Starry shouted urgently. In her eyes, Zane being attacked was far more important than some Epic-tier boss.
“Got it!” Endless Sea knew this wasn’t a joke. Forced PvP and boss steals in the wilderness were nothing new, especially in Glazed Lycoris Radiata. It happened all the time. And this guy—FaintTrace—he recognized him! He was the top Assassin from the Heaven’s Accord Guild!
Honestly, in a one-on-one, Endless Sea’s odds were less than 20%. But if Starry went instead, she could probably fight him evenly. Which meant his job now was simple—take down the boss, fast!
Lordsey, of course, had already noticed the disturbance.
“So humans aren’t as united as the rumors say,” he remarked, as the freezing effect on his body finally wore off. Now was his chance to escape!
Trying to flee? Not happening!
Guardian Shield!
Taunt!
The classic two-move combo landed cleanly. Lordsey instinctively turned back to chase Endless Sea. An inexplicable fury welled up inside him. Damn humans—taste the wrath of my greatclub!
Heavy Strike, blazing with overwhelming power, slammed down with a resounding impact!

I was a Critical hit! Endless Sea vanished in a flash of white light, forcefully teleported back to Wynwater City—and his level dropped back down to 12.
