What?!

Shiu: Rainflower Guild has always been like this. They probably took over a leveling spot and got into a fight with those guys. Zane, be careful. Let’s try not to provoke a guild like that. If we want to grow steadily, it’s best to keep a low profile.

…That’s not an option.

Zane’s voice was firm.

Those people—they’re my friends.

“…” Shiu was silent for a moment before responding,

Shiu : If there’s a fight, count me in. My damage output is insane right now. One Flameburst, and I can wipe the floor with a newbie in an instant.

Good! I’ll call you once I wrap things up here.

Shiu: Okay, I’ll head back to town and restock.

“Had enough hugging?” Zane looked at Elna with a smirk.
“Ah!” Elna let out a startled yelp and immediately jumped back. “S-Sorry!”
“It’s fine. More importantly, how do you feel now?” Zane asked.
“I feel amazing! My body is so much more flexible, and my senses are back to normal! Thank you! If it weren’t for you, I would’ve—”
“Stop right there! No need for the formalities. We’ve still got things to do.”

On the second floor of the Underground Passage, a golden-haired girl in eerie bone armor stood facing a gray-robed girl. For some reason, the scene looked… oddly harmonious.

Now that he thought about it, they hadn’t even looted the Skeleton Archer Commander and the Undead Wolf Alpha yet.

Zane jogged over to the drops—though moving around in this loli-sized body felt a little awkward. At first, he thought Elna’s small frame was a result of becoming undead, but turns out she was always a legal loli.

After counting the gold coins, they had thirteen in total—not bad for such a tough battle.

Then came the actual loot:
A fiery red staff and a yellow bracelet.

Crimson Flame Staff
Grade Rare
Required Level 16
Physical Attack 10-12
Magic Attack 35-55
Intelligence +23
Wisdom +18
Special Effect +50% Fire Damage
Description A staff infused with the power of fire.

This thing is ridiculously strong!

Its attack power was almost on par with Autumn Moon Sword, and it even had a fire damage boost—perfect for Zane right now, since his only offensive skill was Invoke: Blazing Fire.

He could equip it immediately, and it suited the magic-based Wishkeeper class perfectly. Just in time, too—he had just hit Level 16. The experience from Rare boss fights was on a completely different level compared to regular mobs.

Time to swap out the Venomfang Sword.

…Though, why could a Wishkeeper even wield swords?

Tenacity Bracelet
Grade Rare
Required Level 16
Strength +10
Vitality +25
Wisdom +15
Special Effect Tenacity – When affected by a control effect, duration is reduced by 10%.
Description Perseverance leads to victory!

Finally! A bracelet!

That empty gear slot had been bothering him for a while. 25 Vitality was probably the highest value among similar gear, and Wisdom was also crucial for a Wishkeeper. As for Tenacity, a 10% reduction in control duration might not sound like much, but it was actually very useful.

For example—if two swordsmen used Charge on each other at the same time, they’d both get stunned for the exact same duration. But if one of them had Tenacity, they’d recover faster, allowing them to land an extra crowd control move and unleash a full combo first.

Technically, Starry could also use this, but the other stats would be wasted on her. She was better off going full offense.

In the Underground Passage, neither the mobs nor the bosses had dropped any Uncommon gear so far. It seemed that this army’s equipment standards were actually quite decent.

As for the mysterious man, he didn’t drop anything at all. Not only that, but Starry’s Heartpiercer didn’t even register any damage on him. It felt more like a scripted event kill than an actual combat result.

Now that Zane was in his Wishkeeper form, his stats seemed to be separate from his original attributes. That meant—he needed to reallocate his attribute points from scratch.

Considering that Vitality has the highest rating… Of course, I’m going with my old strategy— full Vitality build!

This class was clearly support-oriented, and in large-scale battles, supports were prime targets for assassination. By maxing out Vitality, he wouldn’t have to worry about being chased down. Plus, in dungeons, he could even serve as a tank!

I’ve decided—full Vitality it is!

Name Elna
Level 16
Title None Class Wishkeeper
HP 5,990 MP N/A
Physical Attack 206-208 Magic Attack 233-253
Physical Defense 63 (62.6) Magic Defense 23 (22.8)
Strength 49 Intelligence 28
Dexterity 39 Vitality 131
Wisdom 38 Luck 3

The stat growth after class change is insane!

His HP had tripled, and both Physical and Magic Attack had broken past 200. That was despite most of his gear being defense-oriented. Still, he had no idea how his stats compared to other players.

Wisdom increased Magic Defense, but Magic Defense gear was rare in early levels. That’s why the early game belonged to mages—other than tank classes, almost no one could survive a full mage burst combo.

“Um… I still don’t know your names,” Elna said, following behind.

“The one lying on the ground over there is Stardust—just call her Starry. And my name is Emberveil, but you can call me Zane.”

“Got it! Zane… bro? …Sis? …Wait, that doesn’t sound right…!” Elna stared at Zane’s current feminine appearance, looking troubled. Gone was the cold, lifeless girl from before.

“Ahem, just call me Zane-bro. This form is only temporary—I transformed to save you… By the way, Elna, is there anything left below the second floor?” Zane asked.

Elna shook her head. “No, the third floor was only half-excavated. That guy was planning to convert more living beings, but he didn’t expect to be defeated here.”

“Good.” Zane nodded. “Then let’s head back.”

“Mm!”

(Starry: ???)

On the way back.

“Beep!” A new message popped up from his friend list.

It was from Zaria.

Zaria: Zanny! We got wiped out by those damn Rainflower guys! They killed us back to Level 10! We finally made it to Level 12, and now our whole morning was wasted!

What happened?

Zaria: Wanderer, Snowy, and Nangong all hit Level 10 today, so we met up in Wynwater City and took a quest together. We went to Cloudshadow Valley in the north of the city—there’s a massive goblin camp there.

We were grinding all morning, but then Rainflower Guild showed up and claimed the area as their turf. We refused to leave, so they wiped us out.

We tried to reach you, but it said you were in a special zone and couldn’t be contacted. After respawning, we tried sneaking back in to finish the quest, but they killed us again…

I got it. Don’t worry—I won’t just stand by and let them bully you.

Zaria: Honestly… it’s not that big of a deal. We’re just upset. We’ll just find another spot to grind. There’s too many of them—we can’t do anything about it…

Maybe I can’t deal with them… but someone will.

Zaria:

That Rainflower Guild… They had already tried to scheme against me in the Beginner Village, and now they are targeting my friends? Unforgivable.
