“Ah!” Elna let out a startled yelp and immediately jumped back. “S-Sorry!”

On the second floor of the Underground Passage, a golden-haired girl in eerie bone armor stood facing a gray-robed girl. For some reason, the scene looked… oddly harmonious.

He could equip it immediately, and it suited the magic-based Wishkeeper class perfectly. Just in time, too—he had just hit Level 16. The experience from Rare boss fights was on a completely different level compared to regular mobs.

Time to swap out the Venomfang Sword.

…Though, why could a Wishkeeper even wield swords?

Finally! A bracelet!

That empty gear slot had been bothering him for a while. 25 Vitality was probably the highest value among similar gear, and Wisdom was also crucial for a Wishkeeper. As for Tenacity, a 10% reduction in control duration might not sound like much, but it was actually very useful.

For example—if two swordsmen used Charge on each other at the same time, they’d both get stunned for the exact same duration. But if one of them had Tenacity, they’d recover faster, allowing them to land an extra crowd control move and unleash a full combo first.

Technically, Starry could also use this, but the other stats would be wasted on her. She was better off going full offense.

In the Underground Passage, neither the mobs nor the bosses had dropped any Uncommon gear so far. It seemed that this army’s equipment standards were actually quite decent.

As for the mysterious man, he didn’t drop anything at all. Not only that, but Starry’s Heartpiercer didn’t even register any damage on him. It felt more like a scripted event kill than an actual combat result.

Now that Zane was in his Wishkeeper form, his stats seemed to be separate from his original attributes. That meant—he needed to reallocate his attribute points from scratch.

Considering that Vitality has the highest rating… Of course, I’m going with my old strategy— full Vitality build!

This class was clearly support-oriented, and in large-scale battles, supports were prime targets for assassination. By maxing out Vitality, he wouldn’t have to worry about being chased down. Plus, in dungeons, he could even serve as a tank!

I’ve decided—full Vitality it is!

The stat growth after class change is insane!

His HP had tripled, and both Physical and Magic Attack had broken past 200. That was despite most of his gear being defense-oriented. Still, he had no idea how his stats compared to other players.

Wisdom increased Magic Defense, but Magic Defense gear was rare in early levels. That’s why the early game belonged to mages—other than tank classes, almost no one could survive a full mage burst combo.

“Um… I still don’t know your names,” Elna said, following behind.

“The one lying on the ground over there is Stardust—just call her Starry. And my name is Emberveil, but you can call me Zane.”

“Got it! Zane… bro? …Sis? …Wait, that doesn’t sound right…!” Elna stared at Zane’s current feminine appearance, looking troubled. Gone was the cold, lifeless girl from before.

“Ahem, just call me Zane-bro. This form is only temporary—I transformed to save you… By the way, Elna, is there anything left below the second floor?” Zane asked.

Elna shook her head. “No, the third floor was only half-excavated. That guy was planning to convert more living beings, but he didn’t expect to be defeated here.”

“Good.” Zane nodded. “Then let’s head back.”

“Mm!”
