Fortunately, Zane managed to inspect the mob’s attributes.

Their base stats were slightly stronger than the Skeleton Warriors, but their combination essentially formed a mounted archer unit. In theory, with 43 Defense, Zane shouldn’t have been so easily overwhelmed. The key problem lay in Guardbreak Arrow.

Zane checked his status—his Defense had been reduced by 20 points from a single hit. That was nearly half his total Defense! Fortunately, the debuff didn’t stack. Otherwise, a single coordinated volley would have been instant death.

Unlike the Skeleton Warriors on the first floor, these monsters didn’t have a limited aggro range. Instead, they attacked anything within their line of sight. This resulted in Zane being bombarded by nearly twenty attacks in one go.

And that was without the Undead Wolves landing their attacks. Corrosive Claw seemed to apply another armor-reducing effect—if it had hit him, his armor would have been completely shredded.

Right now, Zane looked like a porcupine, his back riddled with arrows.

“I already told you—the second floor is nothing like the first.” Elna’s voice carried an unmistakable hint of I told you so.

She wasn’t wrong. With such a powerful armor-breaking ranged assault, there was almost no way to break through. A major guild could brute-force it with sheer numbers, but here? They were completely outnumbered.

“Cough… Uh, Miss El?” Starry hesitated before speaking up.
“What did you just call me?”

She shook her head. “I can’t interfere.”

“I’m not asking you to fight. Just use that Bone Wall from earlier to seal off the entrance to the second floor. Leave a small gap—just enough for one person to pass through. As long as you’re not attacking them, you shouldn’t be discovered, right?”

“Pleaseee~” Starry clasped her hands together beneath her chin, her eyes shimmering with pleading innocence— Even more adorable than her actual self.

“…” Elna said nothing. She simply raised her hand, her lips moving as if whispering an incantation.

A moment later, a Bone Wall materialized, sealing off the entrance to the next floor. A half-meter-wide gap remained on the left side.

“Thank you! Leave the rest to us!” Starry beamed with excitement.

Zane slipped through the gap on the left. The moment he emerged, countless fierce gazes locked onto him.

Retreat!

A dozen arrows whizzed through the gap, embedding themselves into the ground.

Good thing I ran fast…

Immediately after, the sound of rapid footsteps echoed—

They are here!

Soon, an Undead Wolf’s head emerged from the gap. Zane instantly raked its face with Venomous Claws, applying Armor Break first before anything else!

Both the Armor Break and Poison debuffs took effect.

At that moment, something unexpected happened— A special effect that had never triggered before activated—Gray Wolf’s Soul! A phantom image of a Gray Wolf appeared above, slamming its paw viciously against the Undead Wolf’s skull.

With just one exchange, they had already taken one-sixth of its HP.

Finally, some real damage!

…Never mind.

Starry’s casual normal attack still dealt more damage than all of his attacks combined.

The Undead Wolf struggled, trying to force its way in. But— The Skeleton Archer on its back got stuck in the doorway, its legs wedged in the gap. Even better—at this position, the archer couldn’t lift its bow, completely blocking the monsters behind it!

Fortunately, the Bone Wall was exceptionally durable—this kind of situation shouldn’t be an issue at all.

Which means… It’s time for the slaughter.

As each enemy fell, their bodies were pushed aside by the ones behind them, relentlessly charging forward to die.

Zane applied Armor Break. Starry unleashed pure destruction. If it was a Skeleton Archer, she made sure to strike the flame at its skull’s center to prevent it from reviving. Before long, the first wave of enemies had been completely wiped out, leaving behind a scattered sea of loot!

Even Elna was stunned by their ruthless method of monster farming. “This… is terrifying…” she murmured.

The second wave didn’t go as smoothly. This time, Zane couldn’t escape their attack range in time. Some damage was unavoidable. Fortunately, his HP pool was large enough to endure it. Otherwise, even pulling one or two enemies would have been risky.

This round, he only brought over ten enemies—a mix of Undead Wolves and Skeleton Archers. It wasn’t efficient, but it was safe.

Two hours passed. They had nearly cleared the entire floor! However, due to a few mistakes, Zane was forced to use several HP potions. Otherwise, he had been relying purely on resting to regenerate HP.

Now, only five potions remained. He had to use them sparingly!

“You actually did it…” Elna muttered. “However, the enemies ahead won’t be so easy to exploit.”

“No need for tricks.” Starry smiled calmly. “No matter what kind of enemy we face, I have confidence that we’ll win.”

Elna hesitated. “You… feel different now.”

“Do I? Maybe it’s because I just woke up~”

What the hell!? You were awake this whole time and didn’t say anything!? And here I was working my a̲s̲s̲ off!?

Zane immediately felt wronged.

“I just wanted to sleep a little longer~” Starry whispered softly.

Zane leveled up to 15, meaning he could now equip the Decayed Bone Helmet.

Right—I haven’t checked the loot yet.

Their haul included six gold coins, a pile of bone and fur materials, and a blue ring, faintly shimmering with a soft glow.

The stats were impressive, providing nearly +30 attack power outright. Even better, the Frostbite effect was arguably more frustrating than Poison—slowing an enemy’s movement was often more powerful than poison damage in most situations.

Without hesitation, Starry equipped the Icecold Ring. Her attack power skyrocketed to 249-264—a number far beyond what players at this stage should have!

Meanwhile, Zane equipped the Decayed Bone Helmet.

The Decayed Bone Helmet alone added +53 attack, doubling Zane’s total damage output. His defense also took a massive leap forward. But that wasn’t all— With three pieces of Decayed Bone gear equipped, something strange began to happen…

This… is just like a Knight’s Guardian Shield! I didn’t expect a hidden set bonus at all… I need to test it out immediately!

A pale, ghostly shield materialized in front of Zane, covering his entire wolf form in a protective barrier. It looked… incredibly reassuring.

“Bone Shield? You even managed to collect that?” Elna instantly recognized the skill. “With this… perhaps you…” Her voice trembled slightly—so faint it was almost imperceptible.

With this new defensive boost, Zane felt fully confident about taking on the boss.

“Let’s go!” Starry declared.

Elna remained standing at the top of the staircase, quietly watching them as they walked away.
