Hearing the sound of an arrow slicing through the air—

—Zane almost instinctively activated Bone Shield!

Boom!

The two forces collided—Meteor Arrow’s impact was slowed, but its remaining force still barreled toward Zane.

Zane was sent flying three yards backward. The power behind Meteor Arrow was overwhelming!

Even before reaching the boss, Zane had already been hit by Guardbreak Arrow, dropping his Defense to 37. And now, Meteor Arrow, a high-damage piercing skill, had struck him head-on. Even with Bone Shield absorbing some of the damage, he still lost over 300 HP.

Zane and Starry moved separately—against a ranged boss, sticking together would just make them easier targets.

While Zane drew fire, Starry closed in on the boss and inspected its stats.

It was the same Archer + Gray Wolf combination—only both had been powered up into bosses.

Sensing Starry’s approach, the Undead Wolf Alpha parted its jaws. A torrent of dark energy surged forth, blasting toward her!

“Thousand Flash Steps!”

The MISS notification popped up—Starry had already been watching for it. But it wasn’t over yet. While she dodged, the Wolf Alpha pulled back, widening the distance. At the same time, the Archer Commander on its back turned and activated its skill—

Three arrows flew from different angles, sealing off Starry’s escape routes.

At that moment, she was still mid-movement, unable to adjust her stance. With no way out, she veered to the right—where only one arrow was incoming—and swung Autumn Moon Sword downward!

The arrow deviated from its original path, missing her cheek by a mere fraction of an inch.

“We can’t fight like this! Back to the stairs!” Starry shouted.

Neither Starry’s speed nor Zane’s could match the Alpha’s. Worse yet, the bosses weren’t even engaging in direct combat. They simply kept their distance, kiting them relentlessly. At this rate, it was a death trap!

“Trying to run?” The Archer Commander sneered, nocking an arrow and aiming at Starry. Unfortunately for him, Thousand Flash Steps had already stacked four times— For now, hitting her wasn’t going to be easy.

Zane immediately activated Sprint to regroup. And just like that, the battle turned into a cavalry chase.

The Wolf Alpha was far faster than Zane. Meteor Arrow, Rapid Shot, Dark Breath, and relentless normal attacks came one after another, giving them no chance to catch their breath.

Fortunately, Starry was able to dodge or deflect at least half of the attacks, significantly reducing the pressure on Zane. Even so, by the time they reached the Bone Wall, he had less than 200 HP left. Even worse—he had only one HP potion remaining!

When Zane and Starry hid behind the bone wall, the commander froze for a moment. Then, he roared in fury, “Elna, you dare to conspire with humans to toy with me? You’re nothing more than a useless wretch on the verge of being drained dry! Today, I’ll send you on your way!”

A tremendous surge of energy gathered in the commander’s hands. He maintained his stance, bow drawn but not yet loosing the arrow.

Why is he not attacking yet? Zane found it strange.

“Run!” Elna’s voice was hoarse and desperate. “He’s gathering power!”

Gathering… power? For real…?

Boom!

In the next instant, the Meteor Arrow shattered the bone wall into countless fragments! Even the shockwave alone left Zane with only 27 HP remaining!

Damn! As the dust settled, both bosses emerged at once!

“Half a year wasn’t enough to change your mind? Do you still not understand what you are now?” the commander said indifferently.

Elna was silent for a moment, then shook her head in pain. “No matter what happens, I am human at heart. That will never change.”

“Is that so… In that case, I no longer fear punishment from My Lord. Die!” He drew his bow and took aim at Elna.

The arrow tore through the air, but Elna only gazed at it blankly as it approached.

Clang! The arrow was struck aside. Starry sheathed her Autumn Moon Sword and shouted, “Fight back! What are you thinking?!”

“I… I am already dead. There is no hope left for me.” Elna’s voice trembled with sorrow.

“You want to die? Fine!” Starry roared at her in anger. “But are you just going to let those six months of torment amount to nothing?! Fight with us! Take them down! If not for yourself, then for Wynwater City! For Aegis!”

The commander, of course, wouldn’t give them time to chat. He nocked another arrow and fired in rapid succession!

“!!” Something in Starry’s words seemed to stir Elna’s soul. A spark reignited in her eyes.

With a soft chant, a wall of fire appeared behind Starry out of thin air. The moment the three arrows touched it, they were instantly reduced to ash.

“Impossible! You still possess the power of Wishkeeper?”

The Alpha let out a disdainful roar, opening its jaws wide—Dark Breath!

The blazing barrier struggled against the overwhelming elemental force, it was on the verge of collapsing! Elna was likely forcing her body to move beyond its limits. She couldn’t do much—this fight was up to them.

With that in mind, Starry activated Thousand Flash Steps without hesitation, charging toward the boss.

Zane also drank his last potion and charged in with Bone Shield activated.

“You want to die first? I’ll grant your wish!” The commander took aim at Starry.

Meanwhile, the Alpha snarled, “Ignorant whelp! Do you even realize what kind of existence you’ve offended? Die!” It raised its razor-sharp claws, flickering with ominous green light—Corrosive Claw. A direct hit could be instant death.

No time to think—once the arrow is nocked, it must be released!

This brief moment gave Elna a chance to catch her breath. “Invoke—” Before she could finish, she coughed up a mouthful of black blood.

“—Blessing!”

A warm energy surged through them, filling Starry and Zane with boundless strength!

A sharp whistle cut through the air. Starry tilted her head just in time to dodge the incoming arrow, never slowing her charge toward the Archer Commander. The weak point was the head—she knew that well. This time, she was absolutely confident she would land a direct hit!

With a single strike, she cleaved away more than half of the boss’ HP! Frost crept along the commander’s body, freezing him solid!
