“Hey, Susie! I managed to come!”
“Hello, Will. I’m looking forward to today.”

When Susie and the others entered the training area, they were greeted by William, who had arrived earlier and already completed his warmup.

“Oh! Will! It’s been a while! You seem like you’ve gotten stronger! I can’t wait!”
“It’s been a while, Dana. Looks like you, too, have improved. Please go easy on me.”

“Hello, Will! It’s been a while! My father sends his regards!”
“It’s been a while, Beatrice. I will visit your father tomorrow. Please give him my best regards as well.”

“Hello, Will… It has been a while.”
“It has, Mia. Um… Is something wrong?”

Mia greeted William by holding Susie from behind as if she were holding something precious. However, when William asked, she simply said, “Nothing!” Then, she apologized, turned abruptly to the side, and looked away.

William leaned in and whispered to Susie, asking if he had done anything to upset Mia, but Susie only tilted her head and laughed awkwardly as if troubled.

“S-Still, it looks like even the magic group is here today. Are you here to watch?”

William averted his gaze from Mia, seemingly trying to change the subject, and looked around at the other children as he asked.

“We heard you were here today, so we all came to say hello,” Corin announced from the back row of girls.
“Haha, I thought I would surprise you with my visit, but unfortunately, it seems like you saw right through me! Long time no see, Corin. I wanted to see you.”
“Long time no see, Will. And don’t worry about it, I was certainly surprised. I was sooo surprised! I didn’t know about it until just now. You can imagine how much of a shock it must have been to me!”

(Huh? That’s weird. What’s wrong with Corin?)

William noticed that the reflection on Corin’s glasses made her expression impossible to read. Occasionally, Corin’s eyes peeked out from behind the lenses. When that happened, William sensed a dark, ominous aura rising from her body.

“U-Um, Corin? What’s wrong? Did something… happen?”

William asked Corin hesitantly, a slight unease creeping into his voice.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen? Well, I guess you could say that. Is that the first thing you’re going to say after meeting me?”

(Oh no. This is bad!)

William’s instincts immediately told him he had stepped into dangerous territory.

“Corin, please wait. I think there has been a misunderstanding.”
“Wait? For what? Misunderstanding? What kind? I don’t get what you’re saying!”

William, a tall and broad-shouldered man, towered over Corin, who was naturally small in stature. Despite the 20-centimeter height difference, William couldn’t shake the feeling of intimidation as Corin glared up at him. A single bead of sweat rolled down his cheek.

“U-Um… T-That’s… I’m sorry. I apologize if I have done something to upset you. I do.”
“Oh my? Did you do something for which you owe me an apology? Are you even aware of what that is?!”
“U-Um… T-That’s…”

William frantically searched his mind for an answer.

(What? Corin seems to be mad. Did I say something? Did I do something? What did Corin say? Think… Remember!!)

“U-Um… I-I… I’m sorry for not contacting you straight away!”

William quickly bowed deeply toward Corin. As he lowered his gaze, he stole a glance at Corin’s expression.

(D-Did I do it? Or did I miss?)

“Figures! You probably completely forgot about me, didn’t you?”
“T-That’s not true! I was going to come and say hi to the Saunders family before dinner! But we got caught up talking and…”
“I see… You got caught up talking… I see… Well, I can see that. Su is quite cute, after all. She’s pretty too… It’s only natural that a gentleman meeting her for the first time would be enamored with her…”
“T-That’s not it! That’s not what I meant!”

“You don’t need to explain yourself! You probably fell so far for Su that you completely forgot about me!!!”
“I did not! You know that you’re the only one I like! I’ve never fallen for anyone else! There is no way I would!”
“W-What?!!!”

The girls erupted in cheers. Corin’s face turned bright red as she watched them.

“W-W-Who cares about that?! Falling, not falling, it doesn’t matter! And the way you said it is all over the place! Besides, this is not something you say in public!!!”

Suddenly, Corin’s face turned as red as if she had been boiled, and her eyes welled up with tears.

“Ah… I-I’m so…”
“I can’t with you anymore! You idiot! Don’t talk me to anymore!!!”

Corin shouted at William before bolting out of the training area like a startled hare.

“C-Corin! Please! Wait! We’re not done talking!”

William reached out as if to stop her, but his hand fell weakly to his side. His eyebrows drooped, his gaze wavered, and he looked utterly dejected.

“Will! What are you doing?! You’re supposed to chase after her! If you don’t go now, it’ll only get worse!”

At Beatrice’s words, William gasped sharply.

“Corin! Corin, please wait!!!”

Panic-stricken, William darted out of the training area like an arrow, barely managing to catch up to Corin. He reached out and grabbed Corin’s arm, holding her back. Those who remained inside gathered by the window, watching with bated breaths as the situation unfolded.

Corin and William stood face to face, arguing about something. But from inside the hall, their voices were muffled. Snippets of phrases like “You are…” “I am…” and “You…” floated through the air in the training area, but none of them made sense.

Eventually, Corin lowered her head, covering her face with her hands as her shoulders trembled. William stepped forward and gently embraced her. After a moment, Corin’s arms also wrapped around William’s back, and the two held each other in a firm hug.

“Haaaahh…” A collective sigh of relief escaped from the girls watching.
“That’s where you’re supposed to kiss her!” Dana’s voice rang out, but no one paid any attention to her comment.

For the time being, it seemed the matter had been resolved.

“Well, that was awesome! I didn’t think it would be this exciting!” Dana said.
“Right! If Will had slacked off, he wouldn’t have been able to save that one! It was just the right amount of tension!” Beatrice exclaimed.
“Well, now that I’ve seen something interesting, I’m off for another run! I think I’ve almost got it!”
“You two… Have you been stirring up Corin? What would you have done if Will didn’t act? You have some messed up hobbies…”

Irvine looked back and forth between Dana and Beatrice, his face twisted in disapproval.

“Hmmph, is that so, Irvine? What if he hadn’t acted, huh?! You have the gall to say that when you’re the one head over heels! Huh?!”
“I-I’m going to run as well! See you! Dana! Wait for me!!!”
“He ran away again.”
“He sure did.”
“Hmph!”

After Susie finished training with the children, Dana and Irvine returned from their run and took a break. Not long after, William and Corin also returned to the training area.

(Where did the two of them disappear to for a whole hour?!)

The mystery only deepened, but no one said a word about it.

“Everyone is a child, yet they all act like adults.” Susie was quietly impressed.
“We apologize for any inconvenience we’ve caused.”
“We’re sorry.”

Corin and William spoke, bowing their heads. They were in perfect sync.

(What are they, a married couple?!)

Susie’s heart nearly leaped into her throat when she thought that.

“Will, are you dating Corin?” Susie asked.
“Y-Yeah…”

William scratched his cheek, turning his head to the side in embarrassment.

“But they’re awful! Dana and Bibi keep saying all kinds of things to make me anxious!” Corin exclaimed.
“No biggie, no biggie. It looks like it helped strengthen your bond! So, in the end, it all worked out, no?”

Dana wiped the sweat from her face with a towel Helena had given her, smiling brightly without any ill intent.

“Dana’s right! Now you’re even able to hold hands in public!”

Beatrice pointed out the obvious, and suddenly, both William and Corin snapped back to their senses and let go of their interlocked fingers, blushing in the process.

“A-A lover’s hold!!!”

Corin’s face turned an even deeper shade of red as Susie said that.

“Good grief! You two! You better remember this!!!”
Corin yelled, turning her fury toward Dana and Beatrice.
