“Susie, let me introduce you again. This is William Cloud, the son of Howard’s younger brother, Phillips. He’s our nephew, and he’s 17. He just began his third year of high school the other day. He usually comes here to play every year during the long summer vacation, but this year, things happened, so he’s only coming now, isn’t that right, William?”
“Yes, Aunt. Once again, I am William. Howard and Sonia’s nephew. You can call me Will. Nice to meet you, Susie.”
“I’m Susie. Nice to meet you, Will.”
“Actually, during the summer, the Knights of the Royal Capital were short-staffed. I was there to fill in under the guise of training and testing. Things only calmed down the other day, and I was finally able to take my late summer vacation, which is why I was able to come here today.”
“You’ve been… working hard.”
As Susie spoke, she observed William carefully. He was a tall, muscular young man with a fearless presence. His blue-gray eyes and youthful, ashy sandy-blonde hair, which fell over his eyes, made him seem like a younger version of Howard.
(I wonder if Mr. Howard looked like this when he was young? His nose also looks identical to Sir Howard’s. He seems quite cool.)
Gazing at William’s face, Susie imagined Howard in his prime and found herself enjoying the thought.
“W-What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
William asked uncomfortably as he noticed Susie staring at him with a beaming grin.
“No… It’s nothing… I’m sorry…”
After saying that, Susie approached Sonia and whispered in her ear.
“Did Sir Howard look like Will when he was younger?”
“Yes, his eyes and nose look exactly alike.”
“I knew it! Was he cool?”
“Fufu. He sure was. Fufufu.”
Susie smiled excitedly, clinging to Sonia, while Sonia laughed happily.
Earlier, when Sonia was about to go down from Susie’s room on the second floor, Howard had carried her down in his arms in what was commonly known as the princess carry.
Susie had gotten quite excited from witnessing that up close.
While the women enjoyed the moment, the two men could do nothing but stand there with puzzled expressions.
“I’m happy for you, Uncle.”
“Yes. Thank you for being so considerate, Will.”
“It’s fine. I could tell that the two of you were very happy. I can’t remember when was the last time I saw Aunt smile like that.”
“I know. Susie is already an indispensable part of our family. I hope you understand that, Will.”
“I do, Uncle.”

“By the way, I heard Will came to the Cloud house yesterday?!”
Beatrice exclaimed while offering a piece of cookie to Argernon, who was perched on her shoulder.
“Yes. He came home yesterday. I’m surprised you know Bibi.”
Susie also responded as she reached for the dried fruit cookies that had been handed out after the meal. The sweetness of dried strawberries filled her with happiness.
“Father told me! He also instructed me to go greet him as he’s supposedly coming to school today!”
“Yes. He’ll be here for a week. He said that… he’ll drop by the training area during that time.”
“I-I haven’t heard that! I haven’t heard anything about this!”
Suddenly, Corin rushed toward Susie as if to question her, nearly dropping her glasses in her urgency.
“Huh? C-Corin? Why?”
“I-It’s nothing, Su. Don’t worry about it. I’m sorry.”
As Corin hurriedly walked away, adjusting her misaligned glasses, Susie was left full of questions. She glanced around, but everyone quickly averted their eyes. This only caused Susie to grow even more confused.
“Maybe we should go check over there today.”
“Yea, yea!”
Beatrice and Mia whispered to each other.
(Huh? What’s going on?)
For some reason, Corin sat there grumpily, silently munching on a cookie.
Dana then approached, glancing sideways at Corin, grinning for some reason.
“Say, Su. How was Will?”
“What do you mean, Dana?”
“Hmm, how should I put it? What did you think of him? Like his vibe, his appearance. Like, what did you think of him as a man?”
Corin’s shoulders suddenly tensed up.
“Vibe? Appearance? Hmm. I think he’s cool. He apparently looks like Sir Howard in his youth. As a man, I think he has a nice build, and he seems strong and dependable. He seems great.”
“I know the questions were a little vague, but in short, Su, do you like Will?”
Dana asked with an overly broad smile.
“What? Yeah. I like him.”
“No way! Do you have a crush on Will, Su?!!!”
Mia suddenly burst in, brimming with excitement.
“W-What? A crush? W-W-Why did it come to that? I… don’t! No such… thing! M-Mia! Your face! It’s close! It’s too close!!!”
(Why would I have a crush…? There’s no way… Sure, my heart did skip a beat once from that close-up with Victor, but that was a unique case… I mean, he’s a boy in his teens. A child. There’s no way. There’s no way I’d have a crush on him. But more importantly—Mia! Your face! You’re way too close!!! I can’t breathe!)
Seeing Susie’s face blush a bit when denying it made Mia skeptical.
“Really?” she asked with a doubtful expression. But after a moment, she backed off and sat down again. For some reason, Corin also seemed restless, deliberately looking in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile, Dana and Beatrice whispered to each other, smirking over something.
“Say, Su! Where is Will sleeping this week?!”
Beatrice suddenly asked.
“In the guest room. The guest room on the second floor.”
As Susie said that, Beatrice’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
“Oh my! Isn’t your bedroom on the second floor too, Su?”
“It is. The guest room is right across my room. Why?”
“S-Su! It can’t be!”
Mia suddenly closed in on Susie again, gripping both of her shoulders gingerly.
“Y-You won’t make a mistake, right, Su?! Right?!”
“A mistake? What are you talking about?”
“Y-You won’t sleep… in the same… room… right?!”
“In the same room? What are you saying?”
Mia’s overflowing excitement only made Susie more confused, leaving her head full of questions. For some reason, Corin also adjusted her glasses and leaned forward, eyes wide.
“Yes. Yes. That’s great! It’s totally fine!”
Deciding that nothing seemed to be wrong and that Susie wasn’t even thinking about it that way, Mia finally backed off and sat down again. Corin, too, pushed up her misaligned glasses with her fingers, straightening her posture. However, her expression made it clear that her thoughts were elsewhere.
Watching Corin’s reaction, Dana and Beatrice struggled to hold back their giggles.
“I-I’d honestly feel sorry if we pushed anymore!”
“R-Really? It seems like the training area will be quite fun today! Now is not the time for me to be running!”
They whispered to each other, trying not to burst into laughter. Lunchtime was filled with an air of mystery. Susie could only tilt her head in confusion.
