“Sorry for calling you here.”
“It’s fine. Rir is at Mika’s place today, so ain’t like I got anythin’ to do.”

Shuu had come to my home. I didn’t know how long it had been since he was here the last time. Though until a few months ago, he visited once per week.

“So, what am I here for?”
“For a boys’ meeting.”
“A boys’ meetin’?”
“Exactly.”

After putting away his shoes rather carefully and mumbling the customary “sorry for the intrusion”, Shuu steeped from entryway into the house.

“Look, right now, Mika and the other girls have gathered, likely to have some girls’ meeting. The whole Anazumu crew.”
“Right, so they’ll ask Rir stuff.”
“Well, it’s been while since you came here, so let’s have a boys’ meeting while we have the time.”

After entering my room, Shuu sat down in his usual spot (on a sitting cushion he brough here a long time ago). I opened one of my closet’s drawers and brought out some modest snacks.

“You say ‘boys’ meetin”, but it’s just the two of us.”
“It can’t be helped. Kanata is currently busy with stock market investment. And I wanted to limit it to people who know about Anazumu.”

From what my brother told me, Monday was an especially busy day. He even put off visiting Sakura.

“…Kanata, huh? Just how much money has he made at this point? I hear he’s constantly playin’ the market…”
“It’s not just that, he apparently also started to trade in foreign currency. To begin with, he developed quite a few products on his own and licensed them…”

I wasn’t sure how much money he had earned so far. He didn’t talk about it much, but I once overheard him tell Dad that he had “enough to buy a house”.

“At the end of the day, the guy is a super-genius… What was his IQ again?”
“I forgot.”

But it was bound to be extremely high. He was so bright, even some international corporations had their eyes on him. Though one of those was the institute where they tried to find out how Sakura’s eyes had been healed, which wasn’t a bad place.

He was still a middle schooler, and thus limited in what he could do, but the thought of what he’d accomplish as an adult made me shiver. If they hadn’t been summoned to Anazumu, he’d probably have devoted his life to researching a method for restoring Sakura’s eyesight.

“Well, today isn’t about my brother, it’s our boys’ meeting, so let’s talk about things that are normal at those times.”
“Stuff you talk ’bout on a boys’ meetin’? You mean who’s the cutest girl and what video games are the most fun?”

That certainly were typical topics among male middle and high schoolers.

“I mean, you keep callin’ it ‘boys’ meetin”, but are you even a boy?”
“Huh? I am! On this side, at least!”
“I ain’t so sure. Just what are you wearin’ today?” He stared at me intently. The bottom, the top, then the bottom again. Finally, he snorted. “Hot pants? Ain’t it a bit too chilly for those?”
“Eh, it’s fine, they’re easy to move in. Why, don’t tell me my tights got you excited, Shuu?”
“They might if I didn’t know your real gender.”

Grr, but it’s nice that he’s being honest. Others just stare silently! Assuming I’m a girl.

“Well, if I really were a girl, I might have confessed to you.”
“Nope, I already got an awesome girlfriend in Rir.”

I didn’t know how often we had this kind of banter.
It’s not like we’re gay… there’s a difference.

“So, what are we goin’ to talk about today, then? If you got nothin’, let’s play video games. I brought one just in case.”
“No, today is our boys’ meeting, so I want to talk about things with enthusiasm, like girls do in their meetings.”

At my words, Shuu came to sudden stop. Then he spoke with a look of revulsion.

“You serious? That’s awful!”

It should work… I’ll get him on board with this.

“I am serious!”
“What, you’re actually serious ’bout this? That’s hilarious!”
“…”
“…”

“”…Hah.””

Both of us sighed simultaneously.

“Damn fool. You actually think Mika and Rir have this kinda talk?”
“You’ve been at boys’ meetings, so…”
“That don’t mean we gotta talk in this creepy way. Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
“Heh-heh-ha-ha-ha-ha!”

Not good, I can’t stop laughing. This is way too funny…!

“Hah… well, there is something I want to talk about today. What we think about our girlfriends.”
“Phew… true, girls often talk how they feel ’bout their boyfriends.”
“Exactly, let’s do that.”

He rested his chin on his hand and started thinking.
Does he have something he wants to talk about, too?

“I guess, should I start, then? With my thoughts ’bout Rir.”
“Is there anything about her that you’re unsatisfied with?”
“…We’re both human. No matter how much you love each other, there’ll be stuff you’re unhappy ’bout.”
“I guess that’s true.”

Even though you could say that Mika and I had feelings for each other since a long time ago, I couldn’t deny there were unpleasant parts (Mika’s dislike of my gaming habits, for example).

“So? What are you unsatisfied about?”
“…Guess I can tell you.”

He crossed his arms and took a deep breath. Just what was this mood? Was his dissatisfaction with her this big?

He finally spoke. And what he said…

“…Rir is way too cute.”
