It had been two days since Ayumu’s sudden impulse to improve everyone’s equipment. From what Rir told me, they hadn’t had a chance to test it out so far¹. Mostly since we didn’t have to work in Anazumu.

On that note, we were currently on Earth. We’d been busy with various things, so the last two weeks felt more like three or four months. Maybe that was just me?

“Can anyone answer this question?”
“Here!”

We had math class. And Rir acted like a model student, as usual. On top of having good looks, her physique was nice, so she seemed to be popular with the boys. Well, not like anything could separate her from Shuu. Just as I deeply adored Ayumu, she seemed completely fixated on our friend.

In any case, the question was way too easy. It was the fault of us going along with it when Kanata started to cram in Anazumu. When I tried the past exam question collection of a certain university as a test, I easily reached a passing mark.

My personal dream, other than becoming Ayumu’s wife, had been to run either a café or a flower shop. But with my options broadened like this, I might shoot for a different profession. One that enabled me to spend as much time with Ayumu as possible.

Heh-heh, somehow, I’m looking forward to it. Will others see this as too calculating of me?
But it was something I attained through hard work, so I didn’t feel guilty.

“Yes, a perfect answer, as usual.”

After writing the answer on the blackboard without any hesitation, Rir turned around and went back to her place (which was next to Shuu’s). From how she appeared here, Rir probably came over as “cute but level-headed”, as was her reputation at school. Still, her deformed, barely legible letters were adorable.

“It’s incredible, it has only been a month since you came to Japan, Fún, and you can both read Japanese and solve problems without issue. And that isn’t all, you have been improving dramatically like the Joujou married couple and the harem king. Could it be that something caused you to do that? Normal students would be satisfied if they were both good-looking and able to follow the coursework.”

Laughter echoed through the classroom. This teacher often made jokes like this. Ayumu and I weren’t married yet… though it would happen at some point. But his interpretation of Rir advancing so quickly because she studied relentlessly, wasn’t that far off the mark.

“Well, time is up. The ones on school duty today, please make sure to do your jobs.”

Class was over. Next was lunchbreak, and consequently lunch. Today, I felt like eating with the girls’ group rather than Ayumu.

“Ayumu~. I’ll be joining the other girls today.”
“Alright. Then I’ll eat with Shuu,” he replied before making his way to the boys’ group.

“Ayumu is coming over here~!”
“Sit down here, Ayumu²!”
“My! You’re not eating with your esteemed bride today?”
“I’ll be eating with you guys.”

For some reason, they always treated him like a princess. Well, it was the same for me.

“Rir!”
“Mika!”

Today, Rir also mingled with the girls rather than eat with Shuu. I joined the group.

“The two of you are eating with us today, huh?”
“Yes, I felt like it.”
“Yeah, same for me.”

They seemed to consider me joining them as unusual. Maybe I spent too much time with Ayumu.

“Woah… that’s one amazing boxed lunch!” one of the girls exclaimed.
“Thank you for saying that.”

Rir’s lunch box was extremely lavish. Well, it wasn’t in quantity, but you could tell the quality on a single glance.

“Y-Yours is as amazing as usual, Mika,” the girl added. “You know, your cooking suddenly became so good, it’s like you’re no longer human.
“Eh-heh-heh, you think so? Maybe it’s because of all the love for Ayumu I’m putting in there?”

That probably had nothing to do with it. Excessively gushing over my love life was bound to cause them to look at me in scorn, so I was planning to restrain myself, but it just slipped out.

“Oh, could I visit you at home today, Mika?” Rir asked.
“Huh? I mean, that’s fine.”

She suddenly made that request in a manner so the others wouldn’t overhear us. This was rare… no, it was practically the first time she asked for such a thing.
I wonder what she’s going for.

“Woof, I have some things I’d like to talk about in female company.”
“My, don’t tell me there are problems with Shuu? Alright, will you come to my house, then?”
“Yeah, I will! Visiting a friend at their home was something I always wanted to do.”

She never had been able to make these experiences, so she seemed happy as she said that. We lived under the same roof in Anazumu, so she could’ve visited me there all the time, but… that probably wasn’t the same. Walking to a friend’s home was part of the fun.

“In that case… I’ll invite Sakura too and we can have fun by the three of us who all know about Anazumu.”
“Yeah! I’m already getting excited! Here, you can have some of my Karaage.”
“Thank you.”

Rir, who loved meat some much, offered me some of hers. She must’ve been overjoyed.

That aside… for some reason, I could hear the boys blabbing about Shuu’s harem… In any case, I ignored them and enjoyed Rir’s cooking. It was way too good.

1. Aren’t these things pretty much WMDs? Just “trying them out” would probably result in widespread destruction.
2. They are calling him “Ayumu-chan” in the original. Just mentioning it since it’s different from the Ali-chan they used in volume 17.
