“Hello.”
After parting with Uruto and Parasuna, I made full use of my items to sneak into the castle’s jail, where I called out to a strange-looking man occupying one of the cells. So many things had happened to him in this world, that he was completely unrecognizable as a human.
“Miss Alim?”
“The very same, Mr. Mitsuo. It’s been a while.”
He looked worn-out, but still calmly raised his head from within his restraints (which had been made by me) and met my gaze.
“This doesn’t seem to cause you as much trouble as I expected.”
“Well… what are a few months compared to waiting for hundreds of years?”
He had been stuck in this world for centuries due to some sort of divine prank. Though he actually spent most of that time sleeping.
“The reason I’ve come is that the time of your departure is near.”
“I understand.”
“For that, there are some things we need to do first.”
I brought out the Jizou statue and placed it on the cold, dark floor.
“Huh… I think I remember that one… Isn’t that Genten Jizou?”
“Well, it resembles that specific statue in shape. Please place you hand on it.”
I used several tools made by Item Master to remove his restraints and also twisted the prison’s metal bats (likely made of ultimetal) out of the way.
“You are still just as incomprehensibly powerful…”
“I’ll have to put these restraints back on after we’re done. For now, please put your hand on the statue.”
Never showing any signs of doubting me, he did as I told him.
“Now, first close your eyes and some sort of menu should appear, from which you then select the option ‘World Transfer’… or something like that.”
“A-Alright.”
Likely going through the steps I had told him, he closed his eyes for some time before reopening them, apparently having finished his task.
“Uhm, it says that it’s possible for me to travel to another world1…”
“Alright. That was what I wanted to confirm. I’ll take the statue back.”
With the snap of a finger, I forcibly separated the statue from the clown and returned it to my side.
“Then, for your return to be successful, I will need a part of your body, Mr. Mitsuo… To be specific, some of your flesh. Could I take one of your fingers? I will heal you right afterwards,” I explained as I put away the statue.
Well, a bundle of hair and teeth like Rir’s might’ve worked too, but it felt like having a finger would be more reliable for the Amritas’ resurrection effect to work.
“T-To say something so horrifying with such a cute expression… If it is for the sake of my return to Earth… I accept…”
He held his left hand through the wrenched-open bars and extended his pinky. I cut it off quickly so it wouldn’t hurt too much, and then dripped a drop of Amrita I’d prepared in advance on the wound. I wrapped the cut-off pinky into a piece of cloth, which I then placed into a magic bag I made specifically for that.
“These Amritas never cease to amaze. So… what is going to happen now?”
“You will have to wait for the right time.”
“S-So, you’re saying I’ll have to let them execute me?”
“Yes,” I replied in so cold a manner, I couldn’t believe it myself.
It shocked me, but I wasn’t about to take back my words.
“Because of you, the one most dear to me died. All my friends and the people who took care of me did too. That they came back to life doesn’t change that fact. This is to get even.”
“…You’re right. I understand…”
“Right after you have been executed, I will revive you with this finger and send you back to Earth. However…” I was staring into his eyes. “How can I believe that you won’t turn to crime on Earth after murdering people in this world2?”
“About that…”
“That’s my worry.”
Well, I could alter his mind before sending him back3. But I couldn’t send a criminal to another world, so leaving him dead after the execution might be for the best. Showing mercy wouldn’t cut it here.
“…It will be fine.”
“Will it really? I can send you back to this world by force.”
“…Yes.”
I actually had no way of doing that. Well, I might at some point.
“In that case, I shall believe you… Let’s meet again when it is time to send you home.”
I put him back into his restraints, fixed the jail bars, and then escaped from the Mephilad castle prison.
If he safely made it back to the point where he originally left Earth and made a comeback as the leader of the Love Long circus troupe, I should pay him a visit with Mika. I might bring Kanata, Sakura, Shuu, and Rir too. When they performed close to where we lived, that is.
Now, I should really return home to my loving fiancée.
TL notes:
There were some changes to the site which affected the backend and made standard rectangular brackets that aren’t used for code cause weird things with the layout. The methods I previously used to deal with these issues no longer seem to work, so I’ll change the brackets for denoting message conversations to something else to remove this issue.
Other things also no longer work like they used to, though they aren’t as egregious in their effects. Ultimately, I’ll fix the older chapters, though it will take time, with how many there are. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming anyone other than myself for this situation. The methods I used to deal with these issues were haphazard in the first place, and such effects were bound to pop up at some point.
Footnotes:
- I guess this disproves the “privilege is lost after a certain time” theory.
- I wonder if this is here because the author themselves realized it or due to people’s comments concerning the initial version where he was sent back at the end of volume 7.
- It’s unclear who would do the mind altering/brainwashing here. It’s possible he means that the transfer will include a personality adjustment.
