“…Woof.”
“Somethin’ wrong, Rir?”
She was looking at me.
Yesterday, the wedding of two celebrities of this country had happened. The one where Ayumu went and showed off his outstanding designs. It was awesome. But since it was over, Rir kept shooting me these bitter looks.
“…Woof~.”
“H-Hey, what’s goin’ on… just tell me.”
It was clear that she wasn’t in a bad mood, but unfortunately, I had no idea what was going on with her.
“Shuu, can I ask something selfish?”
“Wh-What, at this point? I don’t mind.”
She probably wasn’t aiming at that, but how she looked at me with upturned eyes made me choke up.
“Thank you. Then, can we get married?”
“…Come again?”
“Woof, I was half joking,” she replied, changing her expression to a grin.
That “half joking” startled me.
“…I was surprised that the SSS-Ranker Parasuna is a rabbitkin.”
“T-True. I haven’t been in this world for long, so it didn’t seem so for me, but from how others reacted it’s pretty unusual, huh?”
“It is,” she confirmed as she sat next to me and rested her head on my shoulder. “…I understand the pain Parasuna must’ve felt. Surely… she was so happy she could’ve died.”
“What do you mean?”
“Woof, it’s simple. She might’ve been raised1 in this country, but she was still treated like a slave… Even if she had it better than others, there must’ve been discrimination. That was the society back then. And now, to be united in marriage with the one who supported her through all that…”
At this point, she stopped talking and kept gazing at me again.
I get it. Her own situation resembles that a bit. Parasuna and Uruto… are like Rir and me. At least from her perspective.
“Well, if we put it in terms of a fairy tale, then Parasuna and I would be Cindrella, and Uruto and you the prince.”
“A-Ain’t that a bit much?”
“It’s not.”
She sees me as her prince? I mean, I get it with some handsome guy like Uruto, but me with my muscles…? But if she thinks so, then I guess that’s how it is.
“I guess. Rir, I promised that before… but I hope to have such a weddin’ with you someday. No, we’ll have it together, I mean.”
“Woof! Yeah, lets! Wearing a wedding dress has been a longing of mine for some time. I’d be happy to have you put one on me!”
“That’s for sure.”
Normally, I’d have replied that we didn’t know what might happen a few years down the line. But then I saw how excited about marrying me she was, although we’d only been together for a few months, and I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life with someone other than her, either. Talking in occult terms, we might be fated for each other.
“And I want to have kids with you, Shuu.”
“Been some time since you brought that up.”
I could clearly imagine her rubbing her pregnant belly while smiling. A happy thought.
“Woof. Still, I’m thinking differently now. I do want children, but only after we spent enough time together! If we had kids, it would get harder to do something by ourselves. And we could no longer get frisky.”
“Frisky, you say… I guess so. I’ll keep you to it.”
At my reply, there was a look of relief on her face, as she happily pulled me into an embrace.

“What did you think? About the wedding, I mean.”
“It was so pretty…”
Kanata and Sakura were talking in their room.
“If it comes to mine, I’d like one just as extravagant.,” she stated. “But I’d only invite family and friends.”
“That’s true. Having so many people attend would be way too much trouble.”
From their perspective as 14-year-olds, this was still far off, but they had started to yearn for it.
“Wearing a wedding dress…”
“I’m sure your dress will be the absolute prettiest, Sakura.”
“You think so? Eh-heh-heh,” she giggled happily.
He gave her a heartwarming look.
“But that’s in the future, and the one who’ll get to see you in your wedding dress from up closest-”
“Huh, i-isn’t that obvious?” Sakura asked impatiently, as the boy let his words taper of maliciously.
“Yep. I assume it’ll be me.”
“…R-Right. I-It can’t be anyone but you, Kanata. Y-You made sure I’m fully dependent on you, so don’t you dare leave me!” she told the boy her true feelings with a slightly flushed face.
He smiled at her happily.
“I also depend a lot on you, Sakura.”
“R-Right? You’d be in trouble without me.”
“Yep, I wouldn’t be alive,” he replied, as he patted her head while feeling satisfaction at how his words had made her blush even more, and then bit into one of the donuts they’d made together.

- She says “born and raised” in the original, but from what Alim mentioned a few chapters ago, she was born in another country that still has slavery.
