Two days after the wedding, I was called to Uruto’s inn. Incidentally, it was currently closed.

It was because Lastman’s true identity had been disclosed. Quite a few curious people apparently came to the inn today and yesterday, but they all left after seeing the letters “temporarily closed for business”.

“We’re really grateful,” Uruto said.
“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Alim,” Parasuna added.

The two of them were currently thanking me without pause. It seemed they were as happy as expected after the wedding succeeded that well.

“We didn’t think it would be this grand, you know,” Uruto said.
“Well, I’m mostly glad you’re happy with the outcome.”

True, I did work hard, so it’s nice that it was worth it. Anyway, you could say this was the first time I went all out since defeating the Black God Surtr.

“Then, here are the promised 55 million bells¹. Please take them.”
“Alright.”

They handed me a magic bag that was on the smaller side. There were no banks in this world², so large transactions were done in this manner. Handing money over in person did feel more cordial than just transferring it from one account to the other.

For now, I checked the amount as formality dictated. It was exactly 55 million bells.

“I confirm the transfer.”
“Well, I don’t think it makes up for that gift you gave us…” Uruto mumbled.

But everyone would expect a gift from me to be legend grade at default.

“Exactly, the king and Gilmars also gave us a lot,” Parasuna agreed.
“They gave us way too much…”

Just what did those two gift them, so they’d mention it in the same vein with my legend grade article? They probably had more to go about, since they were around to personally see what happened two years ago.

“In any case, you two seem quite affectionate. Though I assume that’s normal on the third day of married life.”
“Huh, you think so? It doesn’t feel any different.”
“Right?”

Parasuna was snuggled up to Uruto, nuzzling her ears against him, while he was stroking her. It was similar to what Mika and I did, but from an outside perspective, it did look sweet.

“I have one more thing for you two lovebirds.”
“L-Lovebirds, you say… Didn’t you already give us a gift?”
“Oh, this one is included in the 55 million³ fee you paid me.”

It was something I probably shouldn’t give natives from Anazumu. Still, I would do it either way. It would surely make them happy.

“Here you go.”

I handed them a device with a screen. It was a modern convenience from Earth.

“What is this, a board?”
“It’s a device. For now, could you press the button on the upper left?”
“This one?”

Uruto pressed the button I had pointed out. The screen lit up.

“Today, I welcome all of you who’ve-“
“Th-That’s the archbishop’s voice!?”
“A voice is coming from this device…!”
“Well, just watch it, it’s about 10 minutes long.”

The device I’d given them displayed the events of their wedding. It worked like a tablet on which the ceremony had been recorded, like both a camera and a small TV screen⁴.

“I-Incredible. What is this?”
“It works on the principle that many still images in succession make it appear as if the picture is moving, and consists of several tens of thousands of pictures that I took during the wedding. I also recorded the sounds in the venue. This is a combination of both.”
“H-Hah~.”

I see, so that’s how people who see a recording for the first time react.
The two of them, who were adults for all intents and purposes, were in open-mouthed shock.

“That’s not the only function is has.”
“What do you mean?”
“Please press the button on the upper right this time.”

Same as before, Uruto obediently pressed the upper right button.

“For some reason, the device is now showing our feet…”
“Then lift it up… like that, now please aim it at Miss Parasuna as if you’d be using a telescope.”
“…Like this?”

I went around and looked at the display from Uruto’s side, where I could see Parasuna being shown.

“Now press the upper right button one more time!”
“A-Alright!”

The moment he did, the screen went dark, and a sheet of paper came out of the device. It was a photograph.

“A… a realistic drawing!? Moreover, it’s incredibly detailed…”
“It’s a function that lets you make pictures anywhere! While the size may be limited, it can instantly reproduce anything you see on the screen!”
“Wh-Wha-… is this an artifact⁵…?”

It was funny to see them panic. It took some time for them to calm down, before I could continue.

“In any case, you can use this to have records of how your kids grow up.”
“K-Kids… You’re right. Anyway, thank you.”

The two of them thanked me intently once more. From my point of view, it wasn’t that much, so I felt a bit awkward. Well, as long as they were happy.

“So what, we’ll use this again once our children are born?”
“Y-Yeah…”
“You got it. Anyway, if there isn’t anything else…”

I stood up.
I’ve already been here for an hour, so let’s head home so they can enjoy their honeymoon.

“Best of luck to you!”
“…Thank you, Alim!”
“Really, we can’t thank you enough!”

After the newlyweds saw me off from the inn with waves, I made my way back to the home where my fiancée was waiting… Though before that, I had to make another stop, or rather, do some infiltration.

1. 50 million in the original. I used the 55 from chapter 494 for consistency.
2. For all the worldbuilding, this seems one of the most unrealistic that isn’t caused by it being a fantasy setting. With their tools and clear international relations, there would be no way they wouldn’t have some sort of banking.
3. 500 million in the original. Maybe it was meant to be internal monologue and him thinking in Yen.
4. The original doesn’t call it a tablet, I added that since it sounds like one. Maybe they weren’t called that in Japan back in 2016.
5. I wonder if this is a hint of Anazumu being a post-apocalypse world or just Japanese using the word “Artifact” in a weird way.
