“Ha-ha-ha, you want something to drink, Alim?” he asked while taking out something that looked like wine, then pouring it into a tankard, which he then handed to me.
“Bacchus, you’re not trying to tempt Alim, who is still too young for alcohol, in front of a clergyman, are you?”
“That’s grape juice, y’know.”
Sure enough, it didn’t smell like alcohol, so he probably wasn’t lying. His company also made juice, after all.
“Bottoms up.”
The tankard was a bit big, but I was thirsty, so I decided to take him up on it. Gilmars kept staring at me as I gulped down the juice.
“Is something wrong? Do I have something on my face?”
“No, I just thought about your fans in my party… They’d probably have a field day if they saw you sipping grape juice from a tankard big enough to hold with both hands.”
“Ah-ha-ha-ha.”
Did I ever drink something in a flirtatious manner? As a boy, you’d call it gulping down, but… I guess I’ve been a girl for quite some time.
Well, being able to captivate men isn’t a bad thing, surely. At least from the perspective of my fans… and I’m happy, too.
“Bacchus, could I have some, too?”
“You’ll be going with wine, I assume, Gilmars.”
“Yep, I’ll-”
When Gilmars was about to take a bottle of wine from Bacchus, the door to the avenue opened. This time, the stars of the show appeared.
“We’re here way too early.”
“I just couldn’t sit and wait.”
Gilmars’ prediction had come true. Even though it was still three and a half hours until the ceremony would begin.
“You’re here already. Congratulations to your big day, both of you,” the archbishop greeted them.
“Th-Thank you so much, Mr. Chris.”
Being greeted in this manner by a clergyman made it appear as if their turn on the stage was already imminent.
“I can’t wait to see your wedding dress, Parasuna.”
“…Oh, Gilmars! Yes, Alim made it for me.”
Girls adored wedding dresses. Once she had it on, she’d surely captivate everyone.
“Hey there, Uruto, Parasuna. Gratulations. Well… I’ve watched your relationship for a long time… and it finally happens.”
“Thank you, Bacchus. You’re right… we aren’t that old yet, but it feels like we made it,” Uruto replied to Bacchus’ greeting while holding Parasuna’s shoulder.
Her face was slightly flushed. There were many female adventurers looking up to her, but if they saw her face now, their cool image of her would be shattered. She looked rather adorable.
Then it was my turn for greetings.
“For today… I wish you all the best!”
“Yes, thank you so much, Alim!” Uruto replied. “…At any rate, these decorations are amazing.”
“I’ve never seen anything so dazzling and mystical,” Parasuna added.
They were looking around the church interior, seemingly burning the sights into their minds.
“I did work hard.”
“It seems we made the right choice leaving it to you. I’m looking forward to Parasuna’s dress and the cake.”
“You won’t be disappointed!”
The two of them went back to looking at the interior design. As they did that, Gilmars closed in on me.
“Say, Alim, I also think those decorations are marvelous… You must’ve spent a lot of time on them.”
“Yes, I studied up tons for today.”
“I see,” he replied while patting my head. After just two pats, he seemed to realize something and removed his hand. “Sorry, I did that on impulse.”
“Ah-ha-ha, it’s fine, I don’t mind.”
“You sure? I’ll boast about it to the others later, then.”
This man does things at his own pace. Oh, well.
On that note, we each brought congratulatory gifts. This custom existed in this world, too. Money was a given.
Bacchus, being who he was, likely brought some ultra-high-class alcohol on the level of treasure grade. Gilmars probably had something related to adventurers.
Given who the attendees were, I assumed no one brought dried bonito, seaweed1, or tableware. Well, it’s possible someone brought the latter. I obviously had prepared what I just mentioned. Needless to say, I didn’t use their payment on that.
Heh-heh-heh… I’ve prepared something of legend grade to tie those two together.
“What do you think? There is still ample time to put on the wedding dress, but… should we move to the waiting room already?”
“No… we can wait some more.”
It looked like they wanted to soak in the afterglow a bit longer.
During these days, I’d seen several times just how close Uruto and Parasuna were. Well, back during the war, he did mention that he loved her. Those two really seemed happy.
Well then, three more hours until the show starts. I’ll also have to do my very best.
Footnotes:
- Typical gifts during Japanese weddings are apparently katsuobushi (dried bonito), which symbolizes a strong marriage, and konbu (seaweed), which represents joy and prosperity.
