It was four days before the ceremony would take place. I had finished planning everything.
At this point, there was more talk about the upcoming wedding between two fellow SSS-Rankers than Mika and me. In any case, this was apparently the first time such a wedding happened since the establishment of the adventurer system1.
The way the public saw the union between Lastman and Parasuna was rather varied. First, Parasuna herself was a beauty, which was fine in itself. The problems were on Uruto’s side. People were honestly doubting whether a marriage between Parasuna and the inhuman seeming Lastman was possible.
Even though they were perfectly suited for each other, as long as he was in his real appearance. Also, there weren’t many people who knew that the two of them were in such a relationship. Which was obvious, since they had kept it hidden to avoid causing a ruckus.
Because it was such a rare occasion and of a variety of other reasons, there were numerous foreign visitors like King Rama. Some of them had likely been at my hero proclamation. An especially high percentage was made up by foreign SSS- and SS-Rankers, and officials from the adventurer guild.
For all these reasons, the city was currently bustling. Although this country had been one of the more prosperous ones from the start, which only became more pronounced due to the wealth gained from the war with the demons, this would now be reinforced further due to all those visitors eager to part with their money.
Incidentally, Mika and I were currently enjoying the final quiet day we had with each other. We spent yesterday playing with Karua… and tomorrow, the wedding preparations would start for real.
Well, if I made full use of my equipment and items, I’d be done in an instant, but… I felt like I shouldn’t do it at the last minute, plus the fine adjustments would likely take time.
“Eh-heh-heh~, Ayumu~.”
So, with that being said, I was putting all my efforts into spoiling Mika. She looked awfully cute.
“Ayumu! Hug me!”
“Alright, hug it is!”
We embraced each other tightly. That moment, it happened. Someone pressed the intercom (people kept bothering us, so I came up with a way that it could only be activated by those who actually had business with us).
The scene outside was displayed on a nearby Tozumaho. In front of the gate to our residence stood a bearded, muscular, middle-aged man, and an old man with a friendly expression, who was carrying a staff.
…What could they be here for? At least they aren’t acquaintances of Mika and me.
“…I’ll go check.”
“…Alright,” Mika, who had cuddled up close to me, replied with both a disappointed tone of voice and expression.
I wanted to comfort her right away, but guests came first. We might be madly in love, but that didn’t mean we lost any common sense2. I exited the mansion and went through the garden to the gate.
“Greetings, is there something I can do for you?”
Looking at him from close up, the muscular man with blond hair was huge. He gave off a sense of pressure.
“O-Oh~! Could you be Alyum Nasuwei?”
“You got the name wrong, Thor… She’s called Alim Nariwei.”
D-Did that guy just get my name wrong? I guess there are actually people who do.
“Sorry for the sudden visit… and for mispronouncing your name! I’m Thor! Also called the ‘God of Thunder’, one of Yggdrasil’s esteemed SSS-Rankers! Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!” the blond middle-aged man introduced himself.
“I am called Heimdall, and I am another SSS-Ranker from the same country.”
Huh, they’re from Yggdrasil, the country of the holy tree? The place that treated my brother, sister-in-law, and best friend so harshly?
…That said, it was the king and his close advisor who were responsible for that, so those two men might be unrelated. For some reason, they feel like nice people, I should ask them why they’re here. Though they’ve probably come to visit Kanata and the others.
“Uhm… does that mean…”
“Yes, we’ve come to meet Nakata, Sakura, and Juu3,” the man called Thor replied.
“I also heard that an acquaintance of mine lives nearby… we were planning to show our faces while we’re here for the wedding between two fellow SSS-Rankers,” the man called Heimdal added.
“Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! In any case, Nakata and Sakura also used to be our pupils.”
I see, my hunch was correct. I’m curious about that acquaintance the old man mentioned, but… considering his age, it might be someone close to the king.
In any case, I should call those four. I don’t want to barge in while they’re doing something lewd, so let’s ask them via message for now.
[Kanata, Sakura, Shuu, Rir! Is now a good time?][What’s up, Big Bro?]
[I guess? Did somethin’ happen?]
[Two SSS-Rankers called Thor and Heimdal have come to visit.]
[Oh!? We’re on our way!]
[Same here, Sakura and I will be there in a moment!]
Shortly later, the four of them were here. They didn’t seem displeased, so those two men likely had helped them.
“Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Long time no see!” Thor guffawed.
“Indeed!”
“Thank you once more for back then.”
Kanata’s reply was lively, while Shuu also gave a light bow together with his thanks.
“Erm, let’s not talk while standing, please come inside.”
Everyone seemed to agree with my proposal, so I led them into the mansion.
Footnotes:
- That actually makes sense, since it usually takes a long time to reach SSS-Rank, so people would marry before they reach it, and even if both are adventurers, they likely wouldn’t both reach the rank.
- Could’ve fooled me.
- He actually gets the names right here in the original, but since he constantly says them wrong next chapter, I assume that’s an error here.
