“Hrm… I understand it for the most part.”

The king seemed satisfied. We had continued answering question about Earth and us. Before we knew it, the minister started taking notes.

“In that case, sages… no, Kanata, Sakura, Shuu, and Rir.”

Kanata and the others turned their attention to the king when he called their names.

“You may either permanently live in the Mephilad Kingdom or return to Yggdrasil, the country of the holy tree. In any case, while you are here, make sure to enjoy your life. This obviously goes for Alim and Mika, too.”
“Thank you very much, Your Majesty…!” Kanata replied while bowing his head again.

Sakura and the others followed suit.

“Ha-ha-ha! No need to humble yourselves that much. You are sages, so you might act a bit more imposing, no? Also, Rir…”
“Woof!?”

When the king called her name, Rir’s eyes stood up and her eyes snapped open. The king regarded her reaction with an amused smile before continuing.

“Do beastfolk from Yggdrasil face treatment that bad, after all?”
“…W-Woof! Shuu took me in his care before the worst could happen to me¹, so… I am fine!”

The king was likely talking about slavery in Yggdrasil.

“I see, you probably were lucky. There is not a single slave in Mephilad. Even the underworld slavery trade, which happened outside of the country’s supervision, has been dismantled by adventurers lead by Lastman, one of our SSS-Rankers. Neither beastfolk nor magic races are treated unjustly here. You can feel safe.”
“W-Woof! I understand!”

From Rir’s perspective… no, not just from hers but likely from that of everyone in this world, this country seemed like a safe place to live.

Shuu looked relieved. Kanata too, who tended to argue with adults, didn’t seem like he had any complaints.

“…Finally, Alim. There’s the matter of your reward,” the king changed the topic.

Right, that issue.

“There is no need from my side. You treating my younger brother and the others kindly… is enough.”
“Not at all, this won’t be sufficient as a reward for defeating your second evil god. You likely need neither social standing, prestige, money, goods, or skill cards, but…”

He’s not wrong.
However, I recently came up with something he might give me. Besides, claiming to have no need of anything is mostly for outward appearances. There – although it isn’t to the point where I have to get it at any price – is something I want.

“Erm… in that case, may I make a request?”
“You may.”
“I wanted to ask this before, but there are dungeons managed by the country, right? How many uncleared dungeons does this country control?”
“Hrm… it should be to the extent of 11,” the king answered while scratching his beard.
“That… that many!?”
“Indeed. Some dungeons under our control were cleared. I think, at the highest, we managed 15 dungeons at once…”

Wha~!? They control this many…!

To sum up my idea, I wanted dungeons. There was the reincarnation shop, plus making it possible for Rir to come to Earth. We absolutely needed some of them. Although I might be able to create a dungeon-locating item, it was likely easier to obtain access to those controlled by the country.

“Uhm… then…”
“Why, would you like us to bequeath the right to those dungeons to you? So be it… although giving you all of them… would cause some issues. My apologies, how about transferring eight of them to you?”
“Uh… that’d be too much! Five… just five dungeons would be fine! Five of them will be sufficient!”
“…Is that so?”

Indeed, five should be enough. For us to use them on a regular basis, or to save them for the future. Also, we can use them for the training with Karua and the others…!

“Then, will you be satisfied with five of them? I shall tell you the locations and particulars about the dungeons I will grant to you another time… Will just this truly be enough for you?”
“Ah… y-yes, Your Majesty!”

Woo-hoo! It won’t be an exaggeration to say that with this… there’s nothing left I cannot obtain.

“Hrm… Then this should conclude our talk. My apologies for making this such a drawn-out conversation.”
“N-Not at all!
“We should be the ones to say this. Thank you so much for everything, Your Majesty…!”

Kanata and Sakura relayed their gratitude.

Everyone had already started to get up from their seats.

“Hm, we are done, then! Incidentally… what are your plans, Alim, Mika? Will you stay here for the night? If you’d like, Sakura and Rir are also welcome. Of course, the same goes for Shuu and Kanata.”

Rir, Sakura, Shuu, and Kanata were surprised by the familial way the king asked this question.

“Ah-ha-ha… well, what should we do?”
“Can’t we stay here today?”

Mika and I discussed our options.

When I looked at Karua, she seemed awfully happy about that prospect.

1. In the original, she says that Shuu took her in before she received such treatment, but she was enslaved and placed in a training facility before she met him, so I changed it slightly. Though it’s possible she understood it as the “defective product disposal” part.
