“Thank you, everyone!” Mika joyfully showed Shuu and the others her gratitude.

She had made them leave the house, so we could celebrate my birthday. They mentioned that they had thought about celebrating together with us, but in the end, they also wanted to use the time to make out with their respective partners.

Mika looked rather cute.

“Nah. That’s what we should say, after you booked us rooms on the top floor of this city’s best inn.”

“…By the way, Big Sis, about today-” Kanata addressed me (at some point, Sakura had started clinging to his arm with a happy expression).

Both Mika and Sakura seemed to agree with my suggestion.

Rir was still clinging to Shuu’s arm. It was funny to observe the slight twitches on his face whenever she moved.

The planned time had come. We were in front of the castle gates.

“Oh… we’re here! I mean, ain’t that just a few doors down?”
“Yep, that in front of you is the castle… nice, right? We moved to a close plot since we come here so often.”

The soldiers at the gates bowed to us and then opened the way to the castle grounds. A slight squeaking could be heard as the gates opened and closed.

Rir was shivering.

“Let’s go, then!”

With Mika and me as the vanguard, we advanced through the gardens. Of the four others… three walked without showing much tension, maybe since they had already visited a castle in Yggdrasil. When we finally arrived at the gate to the castle proper, the knight commander and minister were waiting for us. They quickly bowed their heads to us.

“I am Gordes, commander of Mephilad’s knights.”
“My name is Oraful. I serve as this country’s minister.”

Shuu, Kanata, and Sakura also bowed their heads. Rir bowed a bit too excessively.

“Esteemed sages, you have our gratitude for coming to our kingdom’s royal castle… His Majesty has summoned you. The two of us shall guide you through the castle, so would you kindly follow us?”

The gate was opened.

Heh-heh-heh, the Minister and Knight Commander seem full of vigor to welcome the new guests. Although it might be better if they acted friendlier.

While I entertained these thoughts, we followed the Minister until we reached the throne room.
