“In the place you guys lived~! There are probably some of Rir’s hairs there, right~? If I sprinkle Amrita over those~, she’ll be resurrected~!”
“Stop, STOP IIIIT!! You’re saying things that calm his rage! SHUT YOUR MOUTH!”
Magic came flying my way again. More and more magic circles, each of them patently strong enough to blow away the island, expanded. But I sucked all of it into my sword.
The visibility became poor due to the clouds of dust and sand, but so far everything was a-okay.
“Take back your body from Surtr already~! If you do, we’ll revive Rir right away~!”
“I-I guarantee it~! We’ll be able to bring Rir back to life~!” Kanata, who stood next to me before I knew it, joined me in shouting.
“Kh…! You… wretches…”
Maybe since Kanata’s words had been effective, Surtr seemed to lose all control in the right half of his body.
…Grr, to think rather than to the words of his bosom friend, he’d react to Kanata’s… Well, it seems like they did a lot together over the past few days, and my voice sounds like it’s just about to break, so it’s different from how it was on Earth… I guess it can’t be helped.
“One more push!”
“Right… If you want to~, we can get some hairs from your apartment right now~! We’ll resurrect her~!”
Those words echoed. Surtr clutched his head with the hand he could still move and started to writhe in pain.
“AAAAAAAH…! Stay… in there… I-If you bring her back to life now…! Stop talking without permission… Rir will be naked…! Shut up, this is MY body, it’s MINE…! You can’t revive her right now!”
I didn’t expect the first words out of Shuu’s mouth to be “Rir is naked right now, so you can’t bring her back to life”… Or rather, we’ve gotten to the point where he can talk to us.
That’s great…!
“AAAAAAAH! Curses, curses, CURSES! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH… phew!”
Surtr forced his hand to move. Likely since he had suppressed Shuu, the arm stopped trembling.
“Hah… hah… you blasted curs! YOU’RE DEAAAAAAAD!”
He invoked magic again, even though it was useless. Dozens… no, the number of SS-Rank magic circles that appeared surpassed 100. In the sky, on the sea, and on the ground, everything was covered in giant, fiendish magic circles.
“You probably… won’t manage… to absorb all of that!”
Surtr snapped his fingers. There was an awful noise, the sound of a chain of explosions.
“Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, gah-ha… Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
The ultra strong magic had engulfed everything, Sakura, Mika, and the plane… or so he thought. As a matter of fact, the ocean was boiling, causing a ton of steam to rise, and the island had disappeared completely. Even the plane, which should’ve been legend grade, had been melted down to nothing.
“Complete destruction…! I was hoping for some more… huh?”
Still, we were obviously unharmed. We were floating in midair via telekinesis1, so we wouldn’t fall into the ocean.
“Well, that sure was some crazy firepower!” I said, turning to where Surtr should be.
I couldn’t see anything in front of me. With a swing of my sword, I got rid of the remaining steam and dust.
“Still, it didn’t reach us. It’s a pity. At this point, I’m not sure if your attacks are more effective than Samaeyl’s.”
I created a new island as a foothold with Dark Matter. The four of us slowly descended there.
“The hell, you wretches are still here!?”
The next moment, a blade of fire appeared. It looked like Surtr had added the fire attribute to his sword, and, just like I had swept away the steam and dust, he cleared away the island’s vegetation2.
Obviously, Kanata teleported us to another place instantly and then immediately returned us completely unharmed.
“…What do we do? Can we seal him already? Although I’d like to meet that girl who became Shuu’s girlfriend.”
I tapped my sword against my shoulder and checked Surtr’s expression.
…He’s smiling? And it’s a bad kind of smile.
“Gah-ha-ha…”
He pulled the corners of Shuu’s mouth up to their limit and grinned, as if he was enjoying the situation.
Normally, Shuu had a much more pleasant grin. Though it was inferior to my bewitching smile.
“Oh, oh, oh! This is good, great even…! It’s THE BEST, you know, this is the first time anyone ever cornered ME to that extent!”
He was larger-than-life in every aspect. His movements were exaggerated, and he talked as if he was holding a speech. If Shuu was doing that consciously, I’d absolutely punch him for it.
“…In short, from here on I‘ll be going all out! Brace yourself, true hero! I am the Black God, Surtr…! The evil god of scorching heat! Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
TL notes:
Well, at least Shuu is still alive in there (or Surtr was just putting on a show to get a rise out of our heroes). Also, the Black God finally seems about to get serious now.
Footnotes:
- The original is 念話 (“telepathy”). I assume the author mixed up telepathy and telekinesis.
- I think that’s what it means. The original is 島の自然 (“nature of island”), but there’s no mention of remains of the old (natural) island, so it’s likely that Alim created an island with plants on it.
