“As a matter of fact, there’s something called an Amrita.”

I gave Kanata and Sakura an explanation about the item. Surtr kept attacking us, but Mika cancelled out his spells with her Divine Bow, so it didn’t cause any issues. I decided to leave the fighting to her for the moment.

“Huh!? What the hell… If something like that existed, the whole world should know about it…” Kanata wondered.
“Yep. But even in literature, I’ve only found a reference in just one book. For whatever reason, it’s not well known.”

If you ask me, it’s more surprising that there’s even a record remaining about those potions. I have no idea why it was mentioned in that one single book¹.

“If… if there’s something like that…! What grade are Amritas, Ayu-nii?”
“They’re divine grade. It’s one step above legend grade.”
“Wha-? I’ve never heard about that…” Kanata, who had started to believe my explanation, looked as if he harbored some new doubts. “Do they… really exist? Even assuming they do, do you think Shuu would believe us there’s a way to resurrect Rir…? Besides, how long would it take to find one of them…?”
“That won’t be an issue. Here you go, that’s an Amrita.”

I tried handing Kanata a bottle of it, but he just looked at me in wide-eyed surprise and didn’t take it.

Surtr is staring at me… no, it feels more like he’s looking at the Amrita, but that’s probably just my imagination.

“Is something wrong?” I asked Kanata.
“Eh… is this the real deal?”
“Yep. It’s completely pure, not diluted or anything.”
“…Why do you have this, Big Bro?”
“Hm? It’s because I can make them… For now, aren’t you exhausted, Kanata? Drink it. I have more than 1000 of them, so no need to worry about running out.”

I forced my brother to take it. Still, he kept staring at it, not about to drink it. He had likely frozen up again, so I gave his shin another kick.

“Ow!? That hurts, Bro!”
“Then stop freezing all the time… Drink it already.”
“Alright… fine.”

Kanata reluctantly swallowed the potion. The moment he had a mouthful, his eyes opened wide. Then, his wounds and burns, plus all the soot and grime on him completely vanished.

“…This is the real deal?” he asked, with his eyes still wide open.
“That’s what I keep telling you. If we use this, we can persuade Shuu!”

I struck a triumphant pose to encourage that course of action.

“Gotcha. Let’s try it. It looks like I’ve reached my limit for how much I can seal his magic.”

Kanata took a step back. I, on the contrary, went to Mika, who was facing off with the Black God, and tapped her shoulder.

“Mika, let’s switch.”
“Okay, let’s!”

Mika, who didn’t look tired at all, went back to where Kanata and Sakura stood. She didn’t have any injuries, so there was no reason for me to worry about her. Now it was my turn to face off with Surtr.

“…That girl is quite interesting, too…! You guys are awesome. I can see it, after meeting you for real, it’s crystal clear!” Surtr exclaimed in a rapid-fire fashion, seemingly excited. “In the end, you were the only ones able to make that hussy Samayel disappear for good!”

So, he knows I defeated Samaeyl…

“You know about that?”
“Yes, I know everything… To think you’d really have Amritas… Now that’s a surprise.”

What kind of evil god is Surtr? He seems to know various things. It was my Amrita he reacted to earlier, after all. Moreover, different from Samaeyl, he is on his own… so he’s probably stronger in comparison².

“So, will we get to it, then? A fight that makes the blood boil… c’mon… fight ME already!! This is what I wish for…!”
“Hm~, I’d prefer living a relaxed life, if you ask me… Alright, for now…” I formed a circle with my hands in front of my mouth and shouted loudly through them… not at Surtr, but at Shuu. “Hey~~! Shuu, can you hear me~?”
“Huh?”

Surtr’s black hand, which had been about to draw his sword from its scabbard, came to a stop.

“If you can hear my voice~, give me some kind of reaction~!”
“Don’t tell me… are you cur trying to reach… gah…”

Surtr’s hand started moving clumsily. Then, he raised it just a little bit. From the trembling I saw, it looked like he was forced to move it.

“You can hear me, can’t you~? They told me your girlfriend, Rir, was killed~! But if I use an Amrita, I can bring her back to life~.”
“Stop that, stop shouting! You’ll seriously wake him up!”

Surtr, in quite a fluster, sent a pillar of black flames at me. Still, I absorbed it into my sword once again.

At any rate, all of his magic looks crazy strong. From the amount of MP and magic power my sword gets from it, I can see it’s abnormal. If this hits me for real, it might be dangerous, even for me.

…Well, the fact Surtr seems flustered tells me this method is working! Let’s keep it up!

Looks like operation “wake Shuu up” is off to a good start. Only, Surtr mentioned Loukis died at the moment of possession, so is there even something left in there to wake up?

1. Probably since it only had the name plus that it was likely higher than legend grade, no details about what it actually does. Not enough to trip whatever flag that causes information to be deemed too dangerous by the world.
2. I’m sure if you gave Samaeyl a body with Shuu’s stats instead of some sheltered princess, she’d be plenty powerful even by herself.
