“Alright, from now on, I‘ll be going all out…! Don’t die too quickly, will you? Let’s have some fun!”

Surtr went first. A large number of supersized magic circles expanded in front of Kanata.

“From this point on… SS-Rank skills are on the menu!”

In imitation of Kanata’s display earlier, Surtr snapped his fingers. When he did, highest-rank fire magic was shot off.

The one he used first was Werkanalia – Creation God Fire Magic. Moreover, by adding the effects of the Skill God of Fire and Surtr’s own power amplification, the spell was strengthened dozens of times.

This fire magic, which could be freely shaped, was invoked in a haphazard form that made it seem as if there hadn’t been much thought behind it. Still, it was something that was normally rather hard to evade. And while it did seem haphazard, Surtr actually had put some thought behind its shape.

Still, Kanata disappeared with teleportation and reappeared in mid-air, holding himself in place with Psychic Magic.

“Gah, it didn’t hit… It’s unfair to just teleport away, you know?”
“I wouldn’t think so.”

Kanata held his left hand towards the Black God. A dark purple magic circle expanded from that hand and immediately produced an effect.

This was Baldr, SS-Rank lightning magic. White, abnormally powerful thunderbolts fell onto Surtr.

Only, another magic circle expanded above the evil god’s head without him doing any chant. This was Infernal Scalpel – Ultimate Fire God Magic, a fire spell that took the shape of a thick beam. It raced up towards Kanata’s lightning and collided with it.

Baldr had sufficient power to finish off an ordinary SSS-Rank adventurer, but Infernal Scalpel easily negated it and was now about to hit the boy. However, Kanata, once again, teleported away.

“C’mon, don’t you have something stronger? Or am I the only strong one here?”
“…It’s not you who is strong, fiend. This is Shuu’s power.”
“Still, I am the one who amplifies his power… ME, just ME~~!” the Black God yelled, baring his teeth and bending backwards. Then, he immediately turned back to his original stance, glaring at the boy. “Still… I‘m sure you already noticed. I haven’t even gotten to the ‘s’ in ‘serious’!”

It had been around three minutes since their fight began. This gave Kanata enough time to gauge his foe’s power.
…He’s strong.

Kanata should’ve raised his level sufficiently. While he wasn’t his older brother, he had underestimated his foe, thinking a normal victory against this world’s equivalent of a final boss probable. Until yesterday, that was.

Still, how should he go about the actual fight? When the king had been possessed, everything but his raw stats became unusable. Furthermore, the Black God had then easily murdered Rir.

Kanata knew how Shuu’s normal magic power felt. But when Surtr took over, this power was amplified manyfold. Consequently, this wasn’t his foe getting serious.

The thought of what might’ve happened, if he hadn’t gotten a sufficient number of buffs from Sakura, made a cold shiver run down his back.

Still, he had the skill Stýra Rúm, which enabled him to put up a fight against the Black God. He swallowed hard at the thought of not having access to that. Still, he felt he shouldn’t show weakness.

“Muah… Muah-ha-ha! I wonder! I also haven’t shown you my true power yet…! Take a sip of my darkness!”

Imitating Surtr, Kanata expanded several magic circles of the same type, while falling back onto his chuuni-speech. This was Utmost Magic Cannon of the Twilight God¹. Or in simpler terms, a thick, black laser.

Around ten black lasers were making their way towards Surtr. Without even attempting to evade, he stood there, summoning the same number of magic circles and invoked their spells.

“Is that all?”

These words reached Kanata, even amidst the thundering roar. The magic Surtr had shot off pushed back Kanata’s lasers.

“I could probably push through with just this… But fighting darkness with darkness… would be cooler, right?”

With those words, magic circles with a mix of black and red appeared, as if to cover the ten casts of Infernal Scalpel he had shot off. In no time at all, this spell – fire magic clad in darkness – took shape. It coiled around the fire beams like an aura, strengthening them. They overwhelmed Kanata’s lasers, seemingly having doubled their power.

A short time later, Kanata’s magic had been fully defeated, and the crimson beams clad in black flames were about to reach the boy. Of course, he avoided the attack by teleporting upwards.

That magic had tremendous destructive power. It continued in a straight line and gouged out the ocean.

“…Gah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! …Next!”

Surtr is clearly having fun while Kanata starts to realize he might be in over his head with this.

1. The original is 常闇神魔砲 (“Everlasting Darkness God Magic Cannon”). This wasn’t on the list back in chapter 316, so I assume the author meant 究極の宵闇神魔砲 from there.
