GYAOOOOO!

The dragon’s roar1 was so powerful that I could only think of it in bold Roman letters.

In front of me stood a medium-sized Wind Dragon, roaring at another dragon. In other words, there were two medium-sized dragons here.

Medium-sized dragons like these ones would generally be classified as an A Grade monster, boasting an average status of 150 or more. A stark difference from the D Grade monsters I usually encountered.

If one of these dragons appeared in town, it would cause absolute chaos. Any ordinary adventurer would despair at the mere sight of it. And since these dragons were only medium-sized, it was amazing to think that there were even more powerful, higher-grade dragons out there.

Not that it mattered to me; I could easily take them down with a safety pin if need be.
And with the Stealth skill, I could also watch unnoticed.

I was currently on top of a mountain, deep in the forest. And if you’re wondering why I was witnessing a dragon turf war in a place like this, then I’d have to take you all the way back to this morning.

◇◇◇

After all, we didn’t know for sure if Sarok had been following us. It was either possible that he himself had noticed us and decided to tag along, but it was also possible that someone had told him about us.

Either way, from then on, he didn’t follow us outside of the town.

Unfortunately, he didn’t stop hitting on me. He’d give me things, compliment me on my appearance, and praise me for the tasks I’d completed. I really couldn’t understand how he could come up with so many words.

I was honestly impressed at his mental stamina. He was coming back time and time again even after I openly put him down. Even teens with middle-school syndrome would be creeped out by him. Or maybe not, but it was enough to convey the idea.

That aside, even though we were safe outside of town, I felt as if we were being watched while in the town. What puzzled me was that he only seemed focused on me, despite Lullus being cute as well.

It was also strange that, ever since our meeting, the number of requests I was introduced to at the Collegium increased. I was approached almost every time I was there, and that was saying something.

At first, the requests were manageable, rated around E or D Grade, but gradually, I found myself taking on assignments that seemed to be inching into C Grade territory.

In my defense, I hadn’t known that the request was a C Grade until I had completed it. It was a gathering mission, not a combat one, so I couldn’t gauge its grade accurately even while having the Appraisal.

I’d noticed there were quite a few high-grade monsters around, but with Stealth, I could simply go in and get out without issue. Besides, Lullus had also joined me in her spirit form, so I didn’t need to concern myself with her either.

So, even though everything seemed to be quite odd, I accepted yet another request today. Mostly because it paid well.

I headed to the location specified on the request form—only to realize I had walked straight into Wind Dragon territory. And, as luck would have it, I arrived in the middle of a turf war.

It was perfect timing for a spectator, but for an adventurer with a task to complete, it was the worst timing possible.

One dragon threw a strike, and the other retaliated with its tail. Hardened scales peeled off and cracked, while blue blood spilled. The impact on the surroundings was intense. A storm strong enough to give birth to a typhoon swirled around the two massive creatures.

Approaching them would’ve been fatal for any ordinary person, as they’d be shredded to pieces in an instant.

As I watched the spectacle, I suddenly turned to Lullus and asked, “Can you win against those, Lullus?”

“With monsters of that level, I’d probably just need a few seconds.”
“You really are strong, Lullus.”
“Aren’t you able to take them down with a single strike, Master Finis?”
“I sure can, but it’s still quite a spectacular sight.”
“You sure are taking your time with the missions, Master Finis.”

“I can see where you’re going with this. It seems like someone is testing me, doesn’t it?”
“So you were aware. Are you just going to let it be?”
“Well, even if I were to destroy the town’s Collegium, I doubt it would change anything. Besides, they’ll probably invite us to the Tree of Spirits sooner or later.”

Since I didn’t know where the Tree of Spirits was, I figured it’d be better to have someone guide me there. Sure, I could ask and find out, but that would mean that the person testing me would also contact the Tree of Spirits first.

And it would be much more interesting if I were personally escorted there. As long as my presence was known and my position among the Tree of Spirits was already decided, all that was left was to see how they’d treat me.

“Also, I have this burning curiosity to see just how far they’re willing to test me.”
“So you were angry about it?”
“Just a little irritated, I guess. However, I feel like they stepped over the line. Normal people would’ve been dead by now.”

Sending someone to a dragon’s nest, even as a test, was too much. No one was able to handle such a request. Well, I could, but still.

With the two dragons raging behind me, I activated Stealth, grabbed the herbs I needed, and got out.

“By the way, how did they figure out that you were a unique existence, Master Finis? They probably know you’re unique, but I doubt they know that you’re a Demigod.”
“Oh, that. It’s actually not that surprising. I’d forgotten myself until I took the time to really think about it.”
“What do you mean?”

“Well, this body I was given—it’s something that God gifted me, but do you know what species it belongs to?”
“The Elves?”
“So even you don’t know about it, Lullus.”
“If you put it like that, it must mean that you’re a High Elf… No! An Ancient Elf?!”

I was shocked to see that even Lullus was surprised by this. Lullus being surprised was a rare sight. If I’d known she’d react like this, I would’ve picked a better time to tell her.

That aside, I too had forgotten it, but I did in fact have the body of an Ancient Elf.

Ancient Elves were supposedly a long-lost species of Elves, with higher status and abilities than those of normal Elves. The details were a bit fuzzy, but if Wind Dragon were considered a middle grade among dragons, you could say I was a higher grade among Elves.

Such unique beings came with their own troubles, and while I didn’t know the exact means, I did know that I’d be desired by powerful figures. Especially the higher-ranked Elves. They’d either try to gain control over me or, at the very least, eliminate me as a threat.

However, I’d completely forgotten about that fact. I was never really interested in it in the first place.

The smaller Wind Dragon finally surrendered, and with the outcome of the turf war settled, we decided it was time to head back to town.
