Project GB is an official initiative by Re:Library.

The event had gone on for longer than anyone expected, and the seemingly endless boss rush in the last floor was finally reaching its end as well. There had been a three-way split in the choices of bosses to defeat, but all paths had converged back into one after a harsh fight.

That likely meant that this was the final stretch, leading to the end of the floor.

After going through that path for a while longer, they reached an enormous door, so tall the top was not even visible, which was basically screaming that it was the final boss’ door.

…The only issue was that they reached that door when it was already seven in the evening in real life. The players had been wading through the boss rush for nearly ten hours straight by then, which had obviously worn down on their minds.

And at the same time, being online for so long without breaks also caused another issue… Namely, they could not fight with an empty stomach. That was a common phrase, with an unknown origin, but everyone knew and could agree with.

Even if they had the incredible motivational boost from the little fairy, it could only carry them so far before physical factors brought them down. But they had reached a major goal, so taking a dinner break was something they all happily took.

Also, since Kou’s parents were part of the development team, they obviously knew how far she had gone.

Amari and Sora easily anticipated Kou’s desire to have something simple and quick, so on their way back from work, they bought pizza for dinner.

Some time passed, and eventually, it was nine in the evening in real life.

After a substantial dinner, Crim and the rest returned to the gathering place in front of the final boss’ door, where the three groups of players that had gone through the three different paths earlier were all gathered together.

“Alright… Let’s do this, is everyone ready?”
“Yes, it seems we’re all set. Let’s go.”

The one taking the lead was the same person who had become the defacto general of the group so far, Sorleon. Next to him was the one who had somehow become his aide, Crim.

As they opened the enormous door, they were greeted by a scene bathed in vivid turquoise.

It was a large hall, with the half on the door’s side being no different from the rows of bookcases they had seen so far, but the other half was surrounded by walls of glass, and judging from the fishes visible outside, it was clear they were far below the sea.

And in the center of that hall…there was something and someone who felt out of place so deep at the end of a dungeon.

“Umm…what’s this…”
“Is that…a girl?”

The players began to whisper in confusion.

They were looking at the center of that hall surrounded by the ocean, where a young girl was curled up on top of a bed, wearing a strange thing that resembled both an octopus or a jellyfish as a hat, sleeping soundly.

Seeing that girl sleeping so peacefully confused everyone, with some even lowering their guards.

“…Somehow, I was anticipating some sort of demonic entity to rush at us the moment we opened the door…”
“But I don’t see any other corridors in there. We have to remain cautious, so don’t be deceived by appearances or lower your guard.”

Everyone nodded to Sorleon’s warning, reaffirming their grips on their weapons, ready to draw them as they approached the bed. And then..

“Mmmhahh…”

The girl on the bed let out a yawn and then rubbed her eyes as she sat up on the bed.

The weird hat thing she was wearing had countless tentacles that fell down like a curtain, covering her body and spreading out squirming around the bed. Everyone held their breaths as they watched the girl…who tilted her head.

“Hm… Was it you bunch who woke me up from my slumber?” She rubbed her teary eyes, let out another yawn, and then spoke with a haughty voice. Then, she crawled on the enormous bed, falling off one end, before standing up and readjusting the position of the strange hat thing.

“I see, I see… So you’re actually utterly ignorant, merely strolling down here unaware of anything, driven by mere curiosity. “

Even though she was surrounded by fully armed players, she did not seem alarmed or bothered in the slightest, and instead she began to grin…

“Heh… Ahah…AHAHAHAHAHAH!!” …And suddenly broke into a maddening cackle. “And yet you came here of all places. Heh, how foolish, how utterly foolish…!”

Sudden waves of pressure hit everyone there, but mixed within was an eerie feeling, like fear worming into the players’ skin with each wave. All that pressure emanated from the girl in front of them, and the players noticed the debuff icon start to blink in a corner of their vision.

“I’m the long forgotten heir of these seas, forced to lay dormant within this city. I must thank you for coming here, that’s the least courtesy I could give!” The girl continued raising her voice.

Meanwhile, the curse around her body began to pulsate with more intensity.

“My name is ■■■■, too magnanimous for the ears of mere humans, but I’ll permit it so it might instill fear and terror within your souls, which will last until the males watch their guts dry in front of their eyes, and the females understand their wombs exist for my progeny.”

That name was incomprehensible, it did not seem like it could be reproduced through the mouth of a human. The closest approximation would be Cluh-Luh.

As her voice rose in volume and became more energetic, an ear piercing male voice began mixing into it, which made something clear for the players gathered there. She had been an entity they should have never woken up.

But it was too late now, Pandora’s box had been opened. They could only fight with their lives to clean up the disaster they had aroused.

“To arms, everyone! Stay in formation, and everyone with healing spells start dispelling the debuffs on our frontline!” Even in such a situation, Sorleon remained calm and collected, quickly dishing out orders, and the players readied their weapons with heroic determination.

“Taste the depths of your foolishness, humans, for not fearing the endless unknown!!” The girl, Cluh-Luh, shouted loudly as countless tentacles sprouted from her body in every direction…
