Project GB is an official initiative by Re:Library.

“Taste the depths of your foolishness, humans, for not fearing the endless unknown!!” As the girl shouted loudly, countless tentacles appeared around her.

“Eughhhh?!”
“Tentacles! There were tentacles down there?!”
“Rear lines, move in closer!”

Shrieks came from the rear lines. Another set of countless tentacles had sprung out from the floor, forming a ring around the players.

“Stay alert everyone, we of Nord Glacier will deal with the main body! And you, Shao, take care of the stuff outside!”
“Alright, as you wish. I’ll take command of the rear lines then, everyone listen up!”
“We’ll remain flexible and assist whichever side needs it most, Freya, focus on cleansing debuffs!”

The three Demon Lords quickly directed their followers on how to act, and even the players that had been taken by surprise recovered from their stupor and moved into formation.

“Leave it to me, I’m already done chanting! Sanctuary!!”

An area that recovered HP and neutralized debuffs expanded from Freya. That was Sanctuary, a spell obtained with 70 Skill Points with the combination of Healing and Mystical Magic.

The debuff icons started to vanish from the peripheral vision of the players, and any new status effects were quickly neutralized by Freya. Now, everyone could safely move into position, officially starting the fight against Cluh-Luh.

There were a total of 90 players in the boss fight. But it was next to impossible for them to focus all their power on a single target, especially one as small as that girl.

So instead, Shao took command of most of the players, turning to face the outer ring of tentacles that had the ability to absorb HP, while Nord Glacier and Lua Cheia dealt with Cluh-Luh’s main body, but…

“Woah?!”
“Kyah?!”

There were many cries coming from all over the place. The tentacles coming from Cluh-Luh stretched out and attacked the surrounding players with extreme speed and accuracy.

“Rotten thing, just when I thought we had this side under control…!”

Crim grumbled as she cut down a tentacle that was trying to get past her and hit Lycoris behind.

The tentacles seemed to attack at random, striking whichever target even if they were not tanks. That in itself was unusual, so all players needed to remain even more alert so they would not get hit, but that resulted in their firepower becoming lower.

On top of that, Freya was already occupied with keeping Sanctuary active, and she also had to assist as a healer, meaning she couldn’t contribute as a tank as well.

Meanwhile, Nord Glacier’s main tank, Lueger, along with Sorleon, Ernesta, and even Crim—who was rather squishy—had to protect the rest from the tentacles, which further diminished the players’ damage output.

Their only saving grace was that Freya’s tankiness meant she did not need someone directly protecting her at all times.

“Frey, she’s about to use magic!”
“I know!!”
“Reinhard, we need magic resistance!”
“I’m already working on it!”

Crim and Sorleon shouted orders to those behind them as blue magic circles appeared around Cluh-Luh. But they seemed too numerous. There were nine at once, and random targets within the magic circles were selected with AoE indicators appearing beneath them. That was her Splash attack.

Lueger was still maintaining constant aggro, so all the other targets would spread out away from him, making sure that the AoE attacks would not overlap. At the same time, Frey and Reinhard’s magic increased the defenses of everyone.

A moment later, plumes of water shot up from the battlefield. They emerged with terrifying pressure, showcasing how high Cluh-Luh’s magic power was, and many of the direct targets lost half their HP in an instant.

To top it off, those who were caught lost their footing and were unable to move.

“Spread out, there’s more coming!”

After a short period of healing, Sorleon shouted loudly. Another AoE indicator appeared, like a wave spreading out from Cluh-Luh. It was an aggro reset attack, Maelstrom.

“Unsightly humans, vanish from my sight already, Maelstrom!!”

A large wave of water pushed out everyone who was near Cluh-Luh. The first attack had left many with only half HP left, and this attack pushed them to the point that their HP bars were blinking red, but there were still no casualties.

“Time to switch, it’s my turn now!”
“Thank you, leader.”

Since Cluh-Luh’s aggro had reset, Sorleon jumped in and used the very effective aggro pull Dazzling Magic spell Flash.

Should I use Ragnarok Weapon?

That thought briefly crossed Crim’s mind, but she dismissed it immediately.

“What’s happening… She’s truly a dangerous foe in every aspect, but still…” There was a reason why she felt hesitant. But she couldn’t quite express it in words, so she stammered, her thoughts wavering…

“Dammit…”

A long rubbery tentacle quickly wrapped itself around Crim’s arm. Seeing her caught, Cluh-Luh grinned menacingly as a bluish purple bolt of electricity ran through the tentacle.

Electricity!

Crim prepared herself for the incoming shock, but…

“…Stormbringer!!”

Frey’s magic came just in time, unleashing a green blade of wind that sliced through the tentacle. Once Crim was freed, she jumped back.

“Don’t spaz out like that, Crim!”

Crim swung her blade to cut down the followup tentacles as Frey reprimanded her.

“S-Sorry Frey, I was just thinking about something. Thanks!” She thanked Frey, and then focused her attention on Cluh-Luh again. But somehow, she still could not shake off the strange feeling from earlier.

Why…why does this feel a bit too normal?

Cluh-Luh was strong.

Starting with the serious debuffs, her incredibly high stats, the many vectors of attack from the tentacles, and all the spells at her disposal. Not to mention she also had plenty of access to resources from the HP and mana the tentacles had sucked out of the players and miscellaneous mobs nearby.

In a way, it was suitable for a final boss. But at the same time, it just felt like a regular boss with boosted stats, not something more special. If they just fought consistently like during the way there, they would win without much trouble.

This really feels out of character knowing this game’s devs.

While that was a slightly disrespectful view of the developers, Crim could not shake off that feeling. But despite that, the fight with Cluh-Luh went on…
