As dusk approached, the sky bathed the surrounding mountains in a red hue, which slowly transitioned to ultramarine.
And above the Fairy Village, a small figure fought against countless wyverns in the air.
“…Tsk, a pincer attack now?!”
A wyvern charged at her from behind.
As Crim was still a beginner flying, she did not have the speed to outrun the wyvern no matter how much she flapped her wings, so the enemy drew closer, and soon its fangs would reach her.
Meanwhile on the opposite side, another wyvern awaited, its jaws open wide, ready to bite down once its prey flew in.
If she slowed down, she would be struck from behind.
If she continued, she would fly straight into the jaws of another.
No matter what choice she made, she would end up as a wyvern’s next meal.
“I have to…tryyy!!”
Her wings flapped vigorously as she changed course, flying sideways.
Her small body was under immense pressure from the sudden change, and the wyvern behind her had to quickly make a turn to follow her, leaving its neck exposed for just a moment.
That was a chance she would never let escape, so using her wings at full power she spun around in mid-air.
At the same time the red glow of Demonic Attack covered her enormous polearm…which easily sliced through the wyvern’s neck, completely ignoring the tough scales covering it.
It was yet another perfect critical hit. A moment later, the wyvern’s body shattered into light particles.
“Gahahah, long necks are so much easier to cut through!!”
*You’re the only one who can say that.*
A voice in her head instantly replied that way. Something she would have certainly heard if others were present.
…The wyvern necks were covered in thick scales and dense muscles, so not even a regular greatsword could cut through one. Crim’s Demonic Attacks were just too powerful.
The second wyvern took flight to avenge its fallen brethren…but after flapping her wings again, Crim pulled off a barrel roll to evade it.
It was a narrow miss, and as the wyvern flew past her, she continued spinning with her red glowing polearm slicing straight through its neck.
Everything around her went dark that moment.
She instinctively moved out of the way. A third dragon that had been watching from above had swooped down at her.
“That one spooked me. Take this in return, Miserable Chain!”
Slave Chain had turned into Miserable Chain when Hemomancy was upgraded into Sanguimancy. A multitude of chains tied to stakes ripped through the wyvern’s wings.
Its body twisted in pain.
Crim was not done, pulling on the chains to land on the wyvern’s back, thrusting her polearm into it.
*GHYAAAAAAAHHH!!!*
The wyvern’s ear piercing cry echoed through the sky.
It tried to shake off Crim, but they were falling at a nauseating rate.
Just when they were about to strike the ground, Crim swung her polearm, tearing off its wings and kicking off its back to gain altitude, coupled with Damsel Air Hop from her Soaring Boots to fly up as her wings flapped.
The wyvern, having lost its wings and being pushed down even more with the kick, crashed into the ground and dispersed as light particles immediately.
…And so she continued driving away the wyverns.
“HAHAHAHAH, SUCH PITIFUL CREATURES! IS THIS THE EXTENT OF THINE DEFENSES?!”
Crim got too carried away, taunting them with gleeful mocking shouts.

…And while Crim was still going crazy in the air, down on the ground…
“Just who thought it was a good idea to give her wings?”
“Woahh, she’s so cool…”
When the breath attacks slowed down, the group had found a moment to disperse and take cover under the rubble around them.
Frey looked genuinely concerned watching his childhood friend go berserk in the air, while Lycoris was full of admiration.
Not to mention that Crim’s generous estimate was that she was only 50% done regaining control of her body. He feared seeing what Crim would become once she used her new body to its fullest extent.
Frey really thought the developers had made an *interesting* choice by picking Crim to evolve like that.
Her Soaring Boots and her new wings had opened countless new moves for her, both on ground and in the air.
And…he was fully aware that if anyone had the mental swiftness to quickly determine the best move to use any given situation, it was Crim.
“Oh well. At least she’s keeping them busy now, so shoot, shoot at them Lycoris!”
“Ah, yes, right away!”
At least having her as an ally was reassuring.
Deciding not to worry about it more, Frey gave our orders while also shooting up the magic lightning spears he had conjured.
That was Vajra, obtained with 90 points in Profound Knowledge Magic, which could lock onto a single or multiple enemies.
The lightning spears of condensed lightning pierced through the wyverns above… and then all the energy burst inside them. As their bodies began to fall, Frey chanted another spell.
Earlier the wyverns had full control of the skies, attacking relentlessly.
But Crim had changed that, so many of the wyverns had to focus on her instead, and the rest of Lua Cheia could attack from the ground again. Now Frey was also dealing considerable damage amongst them.
Everyone else who also had ranged attacks joined him, since they no longer had to worry about their safety as much.
And so the battle tipped in the favor of Lua Cheia… Until the wyverns decided they were too dangerous to be considered prey and flew away.
